RoboCop Reboot - Part 1

Then again, the first Robocop was very satarical, so realistic wasn't in it's MO.

The one thing about the original is that his death is too over the top, hand shot off, okay, arm shot off okay hes probably close to dying at that point with the loss of blood, getting shot a dozen times by a group of people, he would be dead by that point, it makes the final blow to the head a little less powerful. The death should be violent, but in a more realistic way.

I agree

As Octoberist said the original was satirical, but for this one I wouldnt mind a little more of a grounded approach

I think that's basically the final thing we need to see to be convinced this can be something truly special. So far so good.

Hunter I really recommend for you to watch Tropa De Elite 1 & 2 whenever you have the chance. A brilliant look into the bureaucratic mess when it comes to government, corruption & honesty within police and the naive nature of gangs. Padilha gives an incredible look at the endless waltz.

I wonder if we will get a reveal pic at SDCC.

I've heard of them are they done in a sort of documentary style? or are they like The Raid?

I'm expecting there to be a split, regarding the 'eye's visibility' subject.

Most probably, and what's a fanboy movie without divisive ranting? :D

It's a thinking mans version of The Raid. The main character at times has over arching monologues going on which I like.

Tropa De Elite 2 is definitely the better of the two but the first one is still a great watch.

Well if they show up at comic con I don't expect much beside maybe a panel with director and some of the cast and talk about the film a bit. Since they would still be in prep work for film and filming wouldn't start before comic con.

It's a cool stand-up but... what the hell is it a picture of?

That is old news from the las vegas licesning expo from a few weeks ago. As we discuss then most believe it may be robo's leg.

IT DOES CONFIRM HIS SUIT HAVING RED ACCENT LIGHTING

Not nessiarly doom. Remember licensing expo was for a lot of things that are in various stages of production/pre production. For all we know the film's final look could be different from that poster, or any of the early design looks we heard.

True, but I didnt think they'd showcase a poster like that for licensing purposes if that wasnt at least CLOSE to what we were getting. Licensing partners probably want a good idea of what theyre buying into

Whoops, I looked through the thread and didn't see a discussion on it. Must have missed it.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually excited for this reboot.
Maybe I'm more curious than excited. But still, I wanna see the design of the suit, and see it in motion. I can't imagine how it's gonna look like.

No problem man we did end up in a new thread and it was probably on the old one more.

I'm very curious, and interested to see what the design of the suit is like. I wonder if they've took any design inspiration from the IM armors or if they've come up with something completely different. I remember the original movie his bottom face was exposed, but I wonder if they'll still go that route or if he'll have a full helmet. Has anything been said about that?

Anyway, I can't wait to see the suit design. I hope their isn't that much red piping, this isn't Tron armor. Any chance they'll be a presentation for this at SDCC?

Side note, anyone seen Peter Weller lately? He was on Franklin & Bash this week.

The years have... been a brutal, vicious bastard.

There has been some mention of possible designs but it was from a few months ago. So we don't know what is going to be final look yet to once filming starts in sept.

"We've Got The Future Under Control"

I'm wondering about the film's setting. will it be set in a futuristic type present day like the original, or will it be set in a cyberpunk type future kind of like Blade Runner, Judge Dredd, or the new Total Recall?

last few things i seen him in he didnt see that bad looking.

How old was Weller when he made Robocop?

To my surprise, he was about 40 years old. I swear, I thought he was in his mid-30s at best!

Yeah, he looked mid 30's. Last time I saw Weller was Dexter and I thought he looked good for his age.
