RoboCop Reboot - Part 4

I thought the cgi looked pretty good actually, and it seems they shot the suit so that you can't tell how plastic and fake it really is, or so I hope.

Yea I feel the same. I don't know what the budget of this movie is, but I'm sure as hell impressed with the digital effects. They seriously look amazing and beyond what I expected.

For anyone questioning the CGI I'm not sure what your looking at here.

Liked

-personally, I like the Robocop designs fine
-there are some hints of a really interesting story, though i dunno if i'm projecting that because of the great interviews the director has given about the project in terms of the themes he wanted to explore

Mixed

-dunno about the performances. Kinnaman? not sure. Oldman and Keaton should be good. SLJ looks awkward and out-of-place, but maybe it's all the hair-piece's fault.
-the FX. some shots looked good. some looked like high-rent TV movie effects. another coat of polish and everything might look good...or it might not. but overall, not bad. not great, but not bad.

Disliked
-the cinematography. yowch. i think this is where most of the "generic" comments are coming from, well that and maybe some of the production design. a trailer can be too early to judge the final look of the film, but right now the cinematography looks painfully bland. visuals are always important, film is a visual medium, but i think especially if you're trying to immerse an audience in a science fiction context, the visuals need to be above par or else you leave people feel like they're watching SyFy, not SCI-FI. moreso than some lackluster FX shots here and there in the trailer, it's the cinematography giving me feelings of "meh." after seeing the second Elite Squad, i was expecting this RoboCop movie to have a really gritty, vibrant, dynamic look. instead it's very staid and dull, at least from the little bit we've seen so far. i fully recognize that when we see the finished product and everything in context, it might leave a completely different impression. i'm hoping, anyways.

all in all, i was more excited about this movie before i saw the trailer. now i'm left hoping that Padilha's vision remains at least somewhat intact (sounds like he had a hell of a time with the studio on this one) and that the presentation doesn't let his ideas down.

Really liked what we've seen of Oldman and Keaton. Its always wonderful having Keaton bless the screen. I'm a fan of Kinnaman, he's a pretty good actor so I would assume he'll be good in this. The action looks pretty cool and the visual effects are great. The idea of the illusion of freewill and that he is turning into a machine, I find to be extraordinary. I'm liking both the gray and black suits and the gray already is in it much more than what I was thinking. Really like the voice, I thought that was done perfectly, and the dead or alive line, I mean come on that is just awesome. Really awesome. The best part so far though. You look at him and its Robocop. You can't sit there and say oh he doesn't even look like him. No just no, that is Robocop. I can't wait, I think they've delievered something great here. Time to go watch Robocop on blu ray.

Keaton is awesome in the trailer, even if I didn't like the trailer (which I did like it) I would see the film for Keaton's performance alone, seeing Oldman and him together on screen is a fan's dream.

So I decided to search for the original Robocop trailer on youtube, and I noticed it had the theme from Terminator?

i have a problem with your post. in every shot in the trailer the black suit looks like plastic. this is not an opinion. red is red and blue is blue. the world is not flat. the black suit looks like plastic. :yay::huh:

That is opinion because I didn't think it looked like plastic at all

i'm glad to see Samuel L Jackon's hairpieces find work.

Every 100 of them.

in the script is there a similar scene like in the first movie where he takes of the helmet? and its meant to look shocking like a horror movie?

or a similar scene like when the police attack him? that was emotions galore

That is opinion because I didn't think it looked like plastic at all
google pictures. search for black metal or black iron and black plastic.

the suit on set was made out of hard plastic and similar fiberglass materials. and it looks like this in the movie. they didnt use movie tricks like painting scratches, dirt and rust....

Why would Robocop have scratches on him. He kicks ass, not the other way around

I don't see why people are so upset about the car bombing, yes the original had a glorious annihilation, but the way the trailer portrays this, it seems Michael Keaton is the guy who bombs Alex Murphy, thus he gets his "human lab rat".

the car bomb is meant to be like in the war when soldiers die with a car bomb. the trailer shows a room full of soldiers with robo legs and arms. connection to modern times.

its an interesting direction. but it would be a scifi masterpiece if the movie was about humans using the tech to become perfect humans. something like this could be used as inspiration.

I have to say..it looks pretty good. And the visuals have me feeling a bit better about it than i felt about Total Recall, which I ended up somewhat liking, but I acknowledge its exponential inferiority to the original and off the mark visuals.

Jackson looks like a TV preacher. Maybe (hopefully?) that'll be the case.

Are you kidding me?!?! The visuals in the Total Recall remake were fantastic!!! I know it ain't the original, but it sure as hell isn't anywhere near as bad as people make it out to be.

To me the suit looks much different on screen than in setpics, and it didn't look as fake but most of those shots are fast cuts, but that's just my opinion.

The film itself was boring as hell and dull, I didn't like it at all but the look of the film, cgi and cinematography was all fantastic.

I'm wondering if Jackson's hair will look better in the context of the actual film, or if people will stop noticing it once the actual plot gets going?

Just watched the trailer. Looks pretty good. Better than I thought it would be.

I'm not jumping out of my skin and into a robo suit, but I'll see it.
He could use a little back up.

You're saying Robocop is going to spin records and charge 7 grand a pop?
