RoboCop Reboot - Part 4

i kinda feel the black suit will be a similar case to the nolan batsuits.

will look sorta crappy in stillshots, but looks good in motion and under cinematic lighting.

but gosh yea i love that new silver suit, in some ways, i feel like its an improvement over the iconic one.
and it seems like nobody's talking about how cool the new ed-209 looks!

I remember hearing about a suit that could actually change color depending on the social interaction Robocop was having. Turning Black for night time, Silver for public, camouflage etc...

Im not sure what ever came of that, but I really would have loved that idea. An all in one suit, where we could have the black look and the silver look depending on the situation. Not completely different suits with the "hero" suit looking inferior.

I think there is a lot more in store for us in the actual film, and Im hopeful. Ill be waiting on a second trailer to get a better overall idea. Right now I'm optimistic that we could have some very cool/semi-graphic, hopefully disturbing moments.

They could always do an unrated or rated R directors cut for Blu ray! Thats the route they took for The Wolverine and it working for them. Get the box office and the fans of the original on board.

Judging from the preview the whole "all thats left of him is a pile of organs and a head" aspect is gone

No.

In the trailer, post-explosion Murphy is as much in tact as post shooting Murphy was in the original script.

Just a torso with one arm left and one leg left.

The only difference is that he's burned rather than shot up.

But yeah, odds are we'll still see them dissect him into nothing but his head, "hand", and assorted organs.

Why would they worsen his condition by dissecting him?

I think they'll just slap what's left in that suit.

Same reason they cut off his left arm in the original.

They want as much of him to be robotic/artificial as possible.

To make it easier for them to say he is no longer human and they own him.

the commoditization of a human being.
the idea of that is the most disturbining thing about robocop's story, gore or no gore.

Or, more prosaicly, because its a lot easier to keep whats left of him alive inside the machine if they limit themselves to only what they need. Keeping a bunch of bones and muscles alive that don't do anything anymore would be not just wasteful, but potentially risk the whole thing just up and dying.

In a way that concept does seem a bit outdated. Why make a disobedient cyborg when you can make a killer android that does exactly what you tell it?

That only made sense in the original movie because AI sucked... see ED-209.

It's good to see Keaton again.

If you pay attention to he details of the trailer you can see which parts are in china as the signs are in Chinese. (I think it is Chinese anyhow)

In fact, they didn't actually use his head.

It's not directly stated in the film (though the evidence certainly implies it), but in the special features the writers discuss how the entire skull is artificial, and the face is basically "stapled" onto it. You can actually see this if you look at the face and back of the head. They note that the face was kept so that, even with his memory wiped, Murphy wouldn't have a mental breakdown when he looked in the mirror.

As for other organs, again it's not directly stated, but the desire for "total body prosthesis" suggests that, besides the face and brain, no other organic material is kept. In the universe of the film, there's no reason to keep anything else--since, as per the "Yamaha Sports Heart" ad at the beginning, artificial organs are readily available.

i think with the head he meant face skin and brain. there was no way his whole head was under that metal. :)
everything was good in the first movie. need to watch it again next year haha

in the sequel there is a line about his face. he talks to the wife. i dont remember what it was.

And it appears good old ED will be making an appearance too. I wasn't sure that would be in the reboot.

I'm watching Robocop 2 for the first time in ages, wish me luck.

I found Robocop 2 adequate. It just irks me that he finds his identity at the end of Robocop then goes and rehashes the same 'am I human' plot.

Though I liked the ending line.

Murphy had a basic digestive system at the very least, as he did have to ingest food. I remember seeing the slop coming out of the dispenser in the precinct/lab and also didn't Lewis bring him some baby food later on?

Also, didn't Murphy feel pain when he was skewered with the metal pole by Boddicker? That would suggest some other organic parts in the chest area.

I'm not 100% certain of my facts, it is a long time since I have sat and watched Robocop...

You were right his brain and spinal cord were probably kept in tact along with a portion of his digestive system to keep the organic parts of him functioning.

What was the last line? Don't feel like re-watching to find out.

Lewis: That son of a ***** is getting away with it and we can't even touch him.

RoboCop: [while using a ratchet on his head] Patience, Lewis. We're only human."

*****y movie but I liked the last line of RC3 too.

Rip Torn: "What do I call you?:

Robocop: "Friends call me Murphy......YOU may call me Robocop"

:D

Something along the lines of "Your husband is dead, they made this to honor him"

Robocop 2 also has a line that me and my brothers use to this day.

Anytime one of us makes a mistake we tap our fingers together and say "I'm having........trouble" :D

Well after watching 2 I realize how huge of a stepdown the film is compared to the original, the effects and action scenes are good but the overall story (which I never knew Frank Miller did as well as he cameod) was really bad and just a rehash.
