RoboCop Reboot - Part 4

Robocop 2 also has a line that me and my brothers use to this day.

Anytime one of us makes a mistake we tap our fingers together and say "I'm having........trouble" :D

Lol, my brother and I also use this line when joking around. :D

Murphy had a basic digestive system at the very least, as he did have to ingest food. I remember seeing the slop coming out of the dispenser in the precinct/lab and also didn't Lewis bring him some baby food later on?
What's said is that he has a rudimentary digestive system to sustain his organics--whether said system is organic isn't clear. Could be an artificial system that processes the nutrient slop for his brain and face.

Also, didn't Murphy feel pain when he was skewered with the metal pole by Boddicker? That would suggest some other organic parts in the chest area.
As with most things, it's unclear. I mean, he certainly couldn't have taken that pole through a heart or lung and then get up to go arrest Dick Jones, so I sort of I doubt it. I think it's more likely that A) the scream was done for effect, with no thought behind it, or B) that the artificial body is designed to communicate pain in some degree to the brain.

This sounds reasonable but why would they want a cyborg police officer to be slowed by "pain" instead of just functioning like normal

Reminds me of this :D

If this gets a sequel, I really hope that Johnny 5 is the villain.

He was definitely in pain when he was stabbed with the beam. I can't imagine the programmers were sitting around and said: "Hey, how about we have him scream out in pain for craps and giggles whenever something pierces his body."

That could also be psychosomatic. You "see" something happen to your body and you "feel" it even if it's all imagined or fake. Or in the case of amputees, they still feel the amputated limb. And in the case of Robocop: you feel anything from the neck down.

if you dream that someone stabs you would you in the dream feel pain? would you react? yes you would ;)

i think it was a reflex and also at that time he was so damaged that his brain was f.. up.

I would imagine a cyborg would have some kind of pain avoidance system. For the same reason humans do...to avoid further threat/damage.

thats the risk you take with a human robot. if you want predictable than use a program. :woot:

It does seem impractical, but the reason we feel pain is because it's useful. Sensing damage helps keep us safe and in good health. A human brain is doing the driving here, and the human brain understands and responds to pain because it's a good system, and might make sense to keep. If you're OCP, it probably also makes sense for your expensive robot to not think of his expensive components as disposable. Hardware is expensive so maybe there's an nice reason not to get an expensive arm blown off.

Keep in mind all of this is pure speculation on my part, but it could also be that whatever technology allows him sensation (assuming he has sensation) and control of the body comes with consequences. If you've got an electrical system wired into your brain and then somebody drives a spike through it, I can conceive of that being painful.

Oh, I'm not refuting that he was in pain. When I suggested that the scream may have been done for effect without much consideration, I meant on the part of the actor and filmmakers. For the sake of drama.

"Los Locos kick your ass. Los Locos kick your face. Los Locos kick your balls into OUTER SPACE!!"

Possibly the greatest lines uttered by a robot of the 20th Century.

i rather see robocop take on the terminator.
that would be a fan movie wet-dream.

Nope... besides the Terminator would be stripped for parts faster than he could say "I'll be back."

You do know that Short Circuit has a remake in the works? right?

they don't team up.
he goes into the future and then back in time to f*** up skynet.

Something along the lines of "Your husband is dead, they made this to honor him"

I remember (I think):

Robo: Touch this.
*the wife touches his face and quickly pulls away*
WIfe: It's... cold.
Robo: They built this - to honour him. *turns* Your husband is dead. *walking away* I don't know you.

Obviously I can't remember the wifes name (Ellen?). But for my money, there's good stuff in RoboCop 2 that gets overlooked because it's not RoboCop 1.
