Stop motion is pretty good. Ed is iffy at times but never too distracting. Just got the trilogy blu ray. Eh don't like Robocop 2 at all and Robocop 3 wow embarassing

Of course they realized it but they probably could not afford to redo the SFX so they rolled with it.
It doesn't bother me, it adds to the nostalgia factor

The model used would have presumably had to have been signed off before it was used - how no-one [Tippett Studious?] didnt get the model maker to redo the arms is beyond me.

Funny how when we were kids those stop motion effects are all we had in movies so we thought they looked awesome.

It probably wasn't a big deal back then, they weren't used to perfect special effects.
Besides, it becomes even weirder now that we get to see that shot in HD with this Blu Ray releases.

If I remember correctly, on the making of on the DVD it was stated they only had the money to have one try for each stop motion sequence, so whatever they got 1st time they had to use, most of it was spot on to be fair.

I know and I love that suit design so much, I would have been very happy if they had just kept with that for the whole film, but I guess I should be happy we're getting it at all in the course of the movie.

Studios are smart they know advertising is expensive, why waste that money on lots of stuff now. No, no you wait until a month or two before the movie releases before you start releasing stuff and then a few weeks before is when you hit it hard. Tv spots left and right, posters, stills. There'll probably be a trailer around Christmas time and then it'll be steady all of January.

Yeah I dont mean extra trailers or TV spots, those are expensive but it's not really expensive to release posters or stills just to keep the films profile up before they get to the month or 2 before the film comes out.

I know I am late to the party, but here is my take on a few topics.

1. Robocop 2 was awesome. I loved it, and yeah I do recognize how cheesy it is compared to the first one. The 7 year old in me just remembers being incredibly excited as it was a direct extension of Robocop, the tone was still there, Peter Weller was still there, and the villain was a classic comic book concept, the hero's doppleganger, the Anti-Robocop. Kane was a psychopath that came back back from the dead as a hulking behemoth of a machine. Even at 7, I though it was silly that their "Robocop 2" prototype was a criminally insane murderer. I loved the Frankie Muniz clone that was cast as the other villain. Something about a villain that was pre- pubescent, foul mouthed psychopath was pretty awesome. When you consider that I was 7 and shouldn't have been watching Robocop 2, the villain being a child was cool to me, and it speaks volumes with the social commentary that carried over from Verhoevens original, to Frank Millars credit.

2. Robocop 3, there was no social commentary, it was the PG-13 Summer popcorn edition of Robocop, which was bound to happen now that Robocop had a Saturday morning cartoon and a fan base made up of kids. (see above, paragraph 1)
It featured robot ninjas, Flying Jetpack Robocop, and a child in distress for the newer, kid friendly audience to identify with. That being said, it was horrible. Just horrible. I won't even touch on the absence of Peter Weller, because while I loved Weller, it doesn't take much to play a robot. Peter Weller nailed it, but also, you felt Alex Murphy underneath Robocop. Robert John Burke didn't have to play Alex Murphy, that character exists in name only in Robocop 3.

3. In the topic of Robocop VS Terminator, and which movie is better, I can only offer my opinion but wouldn't say definitively that mine is absolute.

Robocop is a better movie than the first Terminator. Terminator 2: Judgement Day, is better than Robocop. So in the grand hierarchy, I see T2: Judgement Day > Robocop > Terminator > Robocop 2 > Terminator Salvation > Terminator 3 > Robocop 3

I'm with you on that. We are probably in the minority, but I really like Robocop 2. Like I said earlier, the Cain robot still gives me chills. The look, the movements, the design, is so menacing. Arrgh.

That silver suit really is superb, I hope if we get more movies beyond this 1st one, that is the suit he uses the most. Though in figure form the black one doesnt look too bad either.

I think Robocop 2 is a decent sequel, not as good as the 1st obviously, but it still has some great moments, Cain/Robocop 2 is awesome and the fight between them both at the end is still superb to this day.

If I had to guess, it's going to be attached to Thor: The Dark World. That's only major recent release that I can think of.
