RoboCop Reboot - Part 5

ROBOCOP (1987) will always exist. It's a classic. I'm going into the remake just hoping to be entertained and see a different take on it. ROBOCOP 2 and 3 didn't diminish the original, so neither will a remake. And if this remake gets younger people to see the original for the first time then that's a win-win.

None of this is remotely dubstep. It's minor electronics under very Hans Zimmeresque take on traditional scoring that's heavy on percussion. The electronic elements are more akin to NIN than any dubstep.

I gather it's the bpm. Have no idea what it's at, but most associate that slow EDM rythm with Dubstep nowadays. Which is fair imo given how much the past 3-4 years have been influenced by it in the mainstream.

Edit: Actually I think it sounds pretty cool. Just was different at first and took me off guard. Im digging it

Couldn't have said it better myself, yet it's what I've been saying since the beginning heh.

I agree, the MORE I listen to this OST the better it gets as a whole, I dig it. the title card track isn't as off putting after a nights sleep on it. I think listening to the OST and going into the film prepared for the type of music, will make me less disappointed with the music as it's used in the film. Not to say I would be disappointed, but it helps prevent that! It's just not what I was expecting, and I suppose that's a good thing.

Keaton in the clip was classic Keaton from the 80's and 90's. energetic and charismatic. i need 2-3 reviews praising Keaton and they have my ticket.

Don't need reviews to know Keaton will bring it.

Sometimes I think it's really sad that Keaton didn't make more Batman movies. Especially a movie with the artistic quality of the Nolan trilogy. He got so wasted in the '90s when CB movies didn't have any appeal and a serious treatment like today. And honestly, I often hear how wrong he was for the role and how Bale owns him both in performance and physical appearance, but to me Bale comes off a bit shallow compared to the dark tormented performance of Keaton.

keaton gets alot of respect on these forums for his Batman/Bruce portrayal. His Bruce wayne was definately more withdrawn and tormented which i did not respect as much until i started to read in between the lines (when BB was released) He gave off this sense of being emotionally reserved . A scene that will always stick out for me is when he is sitting in the dark in Batman Returns , MK gave off a visually disturbing look on his face craving for the Bat signal to come on. When the Bat logo shines on him. His instant reaction just makes my day. Moving on to Robo, Im just glad to see he hasn't lost that flair of his .The MK scenes ive seen have sold me . Nice to have him back on the silver screen.

I think Bale is definitely better but also Keaton got the short end of the stick. Those movies weren't about him, they were about the villains. Had he been in a Bruce orienatated movie like Batman Begins, he would be right up there with Bale.

I disagree. Keaton's Wayne/Batman was superior to Bale's/Nolan. More was implied, less was explained. Doesn't mean the character took a back seat to the villains. It was all in his face and his eyes. The aforementioned scene in Returns where he is sitting brooding in the darkness alone until the Bat Signal shines into the room is the best Bruce Wayne moment in any Batman movie for me. That perfectly summed up what Bruce Wayne should be in my opinion. Pure obsession, he has no other reason to live other than being Batman. No explanation needed. The visuals tell the story, not the words. Plus I thought Keaton was infinitely more intimidating than Bale. Genuinely creepy. You could tell this guy had severe issues. Again, no need for explanation.

Anyway i'm definitely willing to give this new Robocop a chance. As others have said (and this applies to all reboots) it won't diminish the original so there is no point in being against it.

I think we can all agree on one thing. Even if the Robocop remake doesn't live up to the original, if it makes money, then we can surely guarantee that its sequel will be a better movie than Robocrap 2.

Honestly.

It's really hard to compare them considering one is an origin story and the other isn't. But out of all the Batman movies made to date this short, silent scene in Returns tells me more about the character Bruce Wayne than any longer scene filled with exposition

Eh the only thing I could think during that was how come no one ever noticed this big Bat signal light on his house

Then you're thinking too literally I think.

Plus Wayne Manor was in the middle of no where haha.

As far as both Nolan and Burton's films go Wayne Manor isn't *in* Gotham City per say. People are generally unaware of what happens down the block from their house, much less with a mansion secluded in the woods miles away.

Because Michael Keaton is amazing!

But seriously I am looking forward to this quite a bit. A lot of big talents involved and although the original Robocop is still relevent with it's themes, a fresh lick of paint and some new ideas won't hurt.

I definitely will be catching this on Valentine's Day. It's got good potential based on the footage released. The CGI is very passable, the acting appears to be top-notch, the camera-work is well done, and action scenes seem to be efficiently executed. The arrow is pointing up for this film. I just hope the studio promotes Robocop a little more. I want to see a Jose sequel with more freedoms (assuming, of course, the rumors are true).

It was awesome seeing a tv spot for this during the Grammys tonight.

Yeah I love Michael Keaton so even if the movie disappoints, he'll be fun to watch.

Does anyone else feel the original ROBOCOP has the best scene of a heroes first day/nite on the job? I just love when he leaves the station and goes on patrol for the first time.
