One thing that surprised me is that I really grew to like the black suit and would've been perfectly happy if he'd kept it.

you got me with Ed Tewohnein. i broke google heheh

He's a true visionary. He will become this generation's Spielberg. Making RoboCop 2 will get his name in the Cinematic Hall of Fame.

Exactly. He's a machine.

MGM! Hire Ed Tewohnein to direct Robocop 2! You have 15 seconds to comply!

lol, i thought he was some obscure foreign director at first.

yeah, me too, but i liked the symbolism aspect of it. it represented omnicorp's control over him.

While the movie paid homage to the original in a very good way, I do wish one more homage would have been put in. When Murphy's wife stands in front of the bike and tries to talk to him when his humanity was shut off, I would have liked him to end the conversation with "Excuse me, I have to go, somewhere there this a crime happening."

I was totally expecting it in the movie and I think it would have been awesome to see.

didn't he say something similar?
but it's more or less a paraphrase of that.

i really enjoyed how they included his wife and son in this one. it added an extra layer to the story.

I hope Jose returns but I don't see it happening if the rumors are true. I want his Rated-R vision come to life. Those who have seen his Elite Squad films know his style by now and what we saw in theaters for Robocop had studio interference written all over it. Regardless, it was a good film to get the franchise rolling again.

Oh and the detractors/critics in here can stop with the "it's not Robocop" garbage. You sound no different from the whiny Batfanatics who claim Nolan didn't know the character at all.

I'm not understanding the "It's not Robocop" crowd.

How is it not Robocop just because it's a different angle on the concept of Robocop?

That's like saying BATMAN BEGINS "wasn't Batman" because it didn't take the exact same approach as Tim Burton's 1989 film.

It's more like saying "It's not Catwoman" about the 2004 film.

I really liked it and hope to see a sequel to it,I give an 8/10!!

I liked it, without comparing it to the original, it was a pretty good movie.

Was disturbed at the scene when Murphy first sees what was left of him, "MY GOD, there's nothing left!" Damn

I think he just said he had to go, I was hoping he would say the full line, would have been an awesome homage to a similar scene in the original.

Yeah the inclusion of his wife and son was quite clever I thought, it made for some of the better scenes in the movie and some of the more emotional ones as well. The scenes he didnt recognise them due to his humanity being subdued were very well done.

I liked those scenes as well especially when his humanity was taken away. I wonder if that's a comment on Americas pill popping culture.

I still can't believe that after all of the fan backlash myself included, in reference to the black suit the film finally comes out and barely anyone had an issue with it, I felt it didn't look as bad as I thought it would, but I am still overly in love with the new silver suit.

The biggest fear/complaint turned out to be a non-issue. I just wish they'd kept it more glossy black like the prototype from the B-Roll footage. Matte black made it look more like a "guy in a suit" but made more sense from a tactical or SWAT perspective.

"People don't know what they want until you show it to them."

I enjoyed this movie a lot and emotional bag really got me,when Alex was going to check his car i was like "No no no don't go" them BOOM.. looking foward to a possible sequel.

looking foward to a possible sequel.

It's been out a week... and it has made over a $100m worldwide. There's a sequel coming. Unless they're scared of the numbers at the North American box office.

I have to say. Did't hate it. The action was a little dull. But... what should I call it? The human element? Was good.:oldrazz:

It has been out two weeks overseas and the numbers are pretty low for a film that cost at least $100mil.

Well there are countries that the movied had not yet released,in Brazil it released 18 feb so i think the movie will have a good return.

It is going to need another $150mil to start looking at profitability. The movie cost $100mil, and usually the marketing turns out to be half the budget. Even if you undercut that, we are looking at $130-140mil bill to cover.

Yep i get your point but i'm optimist about it.

Just watched it today, it doesn't have the sheer brilliance of Elite Squad 1 or 2, but it's very good. The action scenes has a very cool feel to them, and you can really understand how a robot would be unmatched in the battlefield, it's bang bang bang, the third guy is dying before he realize the first one is already gone. The parallel between the drug lab storehouse scenes between the two films show this well. My biggest complain with the film is that the pieces and the end didn't fit very well. I liked the CEO guy as character, but suddenly he was a villain. It didn't feel right to me.

About the PG-13... the... assemble scene... that was stronger than anything in Robocop 1. If I watched that as a kid like I did the first one, that image would be in my heads for way long than the tank guy did.

So, not as divine as the Padilha's two previous films, but great film nonetheless.
