Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Oh, the wiki looks wrong then. Makes sense as I've never heard of the earlier ones.

It's not really a continuous story but they're worth playing through. Splinter Cell and Pandora Tomorrow still hold up.

Chaos Theory is the best of the series. You can buy it through the 360 marketplace but it was on the original Xbox.

Double Agent was a departure from the regular stuff, worth playing if you plan on playing through Conviction coz it sets stuff up.

Conviction was developed by a brand new team led by a director who doesn't respect the source material. It was cool to see Fisher on a personal journey to wreck everything in his path but it wasn't Splinter Cell.

Blacklist looks like they don't even give a f**k about tying it into the series anymore. :/

If you're planning on playing them, I would highly recommend the last generation version of Double Agent. Same team as Splinter Cell 1 and Chaos Theory, and it's vastly superior to its current generation counterpart.

I still have to play Double Agent on my PS3. I originally played all of them on Gamecube, but then I got it for PS3 after I heard about the HD trilogy. I played through those and was a bit disappointed and how they weren't really improved and the interfaces and controls were different for each one.

But I did notice that the PS3 verson of Double Agent was a lot different from what I remember about the Gamecube one I played.

Prob for the best. This series started to dip when they tried to make it into a interweaving storyline. They just need to Jack Ryan or James Bond this series. Obviously this game comes right after Conviction but the follow up should just be set away from any of the previous games.

Great, thanks guys. It'll have to wait till after ME 1-3 & AC 1-4/5 but it's now on my list of franchise catch ups.

Yea like Soapy said, the last gen versions of SC: DA were MUCH better than the current gen. Honestly the only SC anyone needs to play is Chaos Theory. None of them really connect into one another and CT is freaking AWESOME.

I completely forgot that there were 2 versions. :o

I don't mind the change in gameplay because that died with Chaos Theory. I just wish they wouldn't ****e out Sam Fisher like this lol.

How are they ****ing him out in ways that they haven't already?

They're making him incredibly nimble with a new VA. Yet it's not a prequel. Keep the Splinter Cell name, just get a new protagonist if you want to tell a story about a cartoon super soldier.

Sam Fisher is just a code name, like James Bond, haha.

And Fisher isn't anymore "cartoon" than he was last go round. Ironside just isn't back to reprise the role.

I wish. :o I barely remember anything about the demo aside from the bit where he's scaling a rock wall. F**king terrible. I could get over the silly crouch walk, the ridiculous new M&E kills, but that was the worst.

Yep. Chaos Theory is easily the best Splinter Cell game, and among the finest stealth games ever made. It gives you plenty of options for every situation. It even lets you gun everyone down if you wish without ever resorting to becoming a straight up action game like the more recent entries.

For sure. CT was, imo, the pinnacle of the genre. I also feel it had some of THE best co-op i have ever played. Really, really, wish they didn't take that out for the PS3 HD re-release.

I'm not actively looking for things to complain about, I'm just commenting on what I saw:

^Cartoony bulls**t.

edit: Alls I'm saying is get a new protag so I don't have to roll my eyes about how suddenly Fisher is leaping up a mountain when the dude used to move way slower.

Now that's just harsh. I mean, it's not like he's saying PC gaming is king and consoles are stupid. :hehe:

Yeah, every time I think of Chaos Theory, I think of how he had a knife in that game and how you freely had that option to kill, even though you'd get a better rating for not killing.

And honestly, that's what bothered me most about the demo. Not really knowing anything about how Conviction was, I saw this and thought it had to be a different character or something because that wasn't the Sam Fisher I remember, going around getting headshots in the open.
