Splinter Cell: Blacklist

well we already had video's put up on that already with more indepth looks. But one more wouldn't hurt thanks.

Here's a good look at the different types of play-styles in the game.

I think those of us who were concerned about it leaning more towards action or stealth have nothing to worry about.

I was never concerned. From day one they showed the ability to ghost the level.

What i am concerned with tho, is it seems like Sam is always holding his weapon. I hope we can manually holster the pistol.

Killing in motion looks so damn sick tho. Love that one where he shot the guy as hes moving towards another then slashed the dudes throat. So sick.

I haven't been keeping up with this game at all....is this a prequel? I'm assuming so since he "seems" younger

No it's a sequel. They just gave new ways to approach a missions and they have a younger voice actor, yes. But that's about it. they are just letting the players choose how they want to go about their missions. or if they play a certain way they can do that if they feel like. This will also add alot of replay value too not that the series never did before. but those that play in the classic stye will be rewarded the best in the game.

Yeah, after that Perfectionist Difficulty video, I'm ****ing sold on this game.

I still wish there'd be some crazy 11th hour change to get Ironside back, because I just know that will still bother me.

But, the gameplay seems like exactly the direction to take Splinter Cell. Just allow me to ghost the game, and I'll be happy. They can have Sam kill as many ****ing people in 5 seconds as they want, as long as I have the option to sneak through the place like I was never there. And it looks like they're going to deliver on that.

Yep.

And even Kobin, from Conviction, is supposed to appear in this game. Same POTUS, as well it seems, and they've mentioned the death of Third Echelon with the creation of Fourth Echelon.

Seems it's about as much a sequel as it could be. Except for Migito, unless they somehow tie into the Blacklist...I was looking forward to seeing the mystery of Migito uncovered by the time Conviction ended.

Almost thought that was Jade Raymond at the end of the video. But, it's not.

Pretty cool how they made the presentation look like an overseas war room meeting.

speaking of Jade

New trailer highlighting Fisher's Abilities

[YT]9Ey4GQY_kJg[/YT]

Looks good. I don't really mind the new Fisher, i just wish they would of used the opportunity to reboot the series rather than try and pass a younger looking and sounding Fisher off as a sequel.

Just keep telling your self it's the tom cruse fitness program he's on. lol I sure they just wanted a new voice actor and they wanted to show Sam's panther thing from the last installment but didn't realize people would see him as physically younger due to him being nimble still. or the fact that they prettied up the graphic's. Oh well it's live and learn on their end.

I completely agree. The more I see of the game, the more I'm loving it. But there's still that weird factor of seeing an older Fisher sound and look like he's never been younger. I don't mind the loss of Ironside, but its just weird to think of this a sequel. I can understand why its a sequel from a storyline perspective, but if this were a film series, I doubt the same change would have happened.

Splinter Cell’s popularity is held back by its complexity, says Blacklist studio head

Splinter Cell: Conviction may have starred a more action-heavy version of Sam Fisher than was seen in his Third Echelon days, but – even with its lighter, more fluid stealth systems – Ubisoft’s Jade Raymond thinks its complexity has still had an effect on the series’ appeal. Speaking to Eurogamer, the Ubisoft Toronto managing director said the games’ comparative difficulty has made them less popular to modern audiences.

in other words alot of my buddies that I play games with as I've stated what their issue's were before with the SC titles prior to conviction. some of them have serious patience issues. I guess I'm the more rounded one. well now they have no reason not to join on in. what ever.

Yeah, I've tried to get my brother into the older games and he always said he hated stealth games like this because it requires you to have patience, and he prefers something with a more "run-and-gun" style of play. But I agree, for me it's never been an issue because I like how being stealthy is a part of the strategy. Even in other games that offer a choice of style, I always go to stealth first.

Yea thats ALWAYS been an issue. I remember showing Splinter Cell to my buddy and he was like 'oh thats really cool, but i dont really wanna wait around that much, i just wanna play'. Unfortunately, theres more and more gamers like him now than there was back then.

Yea im in the same boat, and unfortunately there isnt enough of us out there to justify the costs it takes to make these games successful the way Ubi wants them to be. You could get away with that 10 years ago when SC dropped, you can't do that today.

Yeah, and honestly, I wouldn't say its just an issue with gaming. I think with the way technology has changed in the past 5-10 years, people have just become very impatient in general. But that's why I like games that let you do something that requires a little patience because it feels worth it when you do something cool. Whether it lining up a shot with a sniper, and holding your breath for an extra second so you can nail that headshot, or carefully getting into a position so you can sneak up and knock down a guard in a cool way is always awesome.

I don't want to jinx it, but out of all of the games that come out this year, I think I'm really going to like this a whole lot.

hmm I'm not gonna put it all on technology it has more to do with what people encounter in life in gen that would require patience for one and if you need it in your life to get by. I was brought up with tech in way and I turned out fine. I do have a few friends that have this as well. This is more of a "what you need to get by in life" thing in a way especially when life become difficult and requires it. . and those other friends of mine with those issues will have to learn that lesson in patience some time in their lives other wise life will be difficult for them . the true meaning of survival of the fittest isn't the strongest physically or what most people think it's. It applies to those that are able to adapt to change. it's a learning's process. those that can't won't make it . kinda like those that don't learn patience.

Well I don't mean to blame the blame on technology itself, but rather the idea behind it which is based on the mentality of "I want this now". It's not just something that happens with technology, but in many aspects of life. Fast Food chains are popular because people choose to go to a place where they get food right away, as opposed to either waiting for a cooked meal that either they make on their own, or someone else will make. And even then, people will go to McDonald's and hate having to wait a minute or two on line. The reason I mention technology is because it makes things easier and gives us "instant" access to things.

I'm not trying to say that technology or wanting things right away is wrong or anything, but rather that the idea of patience is a sort of discipline that is very valuable, and its something that people have moved away from having to practice in this day and age. But I think the reason why Ubisoft has tried to give the option of Stealth/Run and Gun is to appeal to both sides. The classic SC fans will want to play stealth, while the newer generation of gamers are going to want something more quick and action-oriented.

Don't worry I know what you mean. I was thinking the same after I wrote that. It's the "I want thing's now issue." Alot of people have become spoiled some how(well we kinda know why) I'm one of the few that broke a way from the mentality. but alot of people have become way too spoiled and that's the real issue at play here with that.

Spies vs Mercs Reveal Trailer

[YT]Bhhx2qk5cgI[/YT]

It also has a lot to do with the fact that gaming is much more popular now with older people in there 20s-40s. Those people don't have all the time in the world like a younger kid or a teen would have to play. Most only have like 2 hours a day to play a game a lot of times less than that. So its hard to play a stealth game like Splinter Cell when you have to wait around for enemies and the next thing you know you've barely done anything in the amount of time you were able to play. Its not a bad thing just something that has become much more prevalent now a days and developers realize that. Also Spies vs. Mercs looks awesome
