What I meant was it is near impossible to talk about Routh's acting ability based on his track record. Let's see, what else has he done:
1. One Life to Live
2. Cold Case
3. Gilmore Girls
4. Will and Grace
First of all, any argument for, or against, his acting ability based on #3 and #4 is a garanteed thin one considering he had a combined total of 2 sentences to say and a total 1 minute of screen time. I'd understand gripes about his acting if he had delivered the lines spastically or looked at the camera in a Zoolander way or something, but he didn't.
As for #2, his part on Cold Case consisted of mostly looking left or looking right, looking concerned or looking embarrassed, and a single line, "I have to be going now." That's it. That's all he had to work with. And again, it's not as if there was anything overtly unbelievable in his delivery of his one, solitary, line. It was even, believable, and not melodramatic. Taken #2, #3, and #4 all together, if you can somehow make a case that his acting skill is crap (or gold for that matter) based on his ability to look left, look right, act concerned, act surprised and say the lines, "I'm curvy where it counts" "Is there a problem here?" and "I have to be going" then you either have no idea what you're talking about, or you should seriously consider becoming a friggan acting coach because you're a genuis.
And now for #1...his part on One Life to Live. Unfortunately, I've only seen a brief clip of Brandon as Seth on brandonrouth.com, though what I saw didn't send up any s*itty acting flares either. If anyone here actually watched the show and saw Brandon's acting, then by all means come forward and give us an opinion. However, all I've seen and read from peeps about Routh's One Life to Live tenure is that they haven't seen a second of footage, but they all they know is that he was fired. Well...I'm sorry but that just doesn't cut it as a logical argument against (and certainly not in favor of) Routh's acting ability. All it means is that he was fired. Case in point, Batgirl's recent posting. Was Routh fired because he has no acting talent whatsoever? Or was he fired because he just couldn't make dialogue that had all the richness and meaning of an athlete's foot cream directions label emotional and dramatic? You don't know, and I don't know. And chances are, you've never even seen him act on the show anyway to form your own logical opinion.
Finally, all of these TV appearances happend, what, three years ago? THREE YEARS AGO!!! Hilary Swank's first movie was the freaking "Next Karate Kid" and now she's a two time oscar winner (and I saw her movies. She deserved both of them.) The bottom line, is that nobody knows jack about Routh's acting ability and people have nothing with which to form an accurate INFORMED conclusion.
So like I said, Routh's acting ability should be a non-issue.
OR.....people should stop making declaritive statements about it like they went to school with Brandon and took acting classes with him.
