Glad that we can agree on that because you can further build the universe that way with this approach

They need to not worry about building the universe for now.

    The Rogues as a group.

    Capt. Cold

    Heatwave

    Mirror Master

    Weather Wizard

Capt. Boomerang (he's on leave from the Squad or whatever idea they can come up with)

Leave it at that. Let's be honest... None are prime candidates to be able to shoulder the weight of being the sole villain in film on their own. Cold would have to be the most charismatic in terms of writing and casting as he is the defacto leader. There is a wide variety of powers and broad personalities for our hero to go up against but also they don't really lend themselves to an "end of the world" story which is fine. Make it about Central City and Barry's life. Again... the conflicts and inherent drama of a young man with super powers that's taken it upon himself to help people and fight crime in his own town.

I think the template is what Raimi did with the first two Spider-Man films only Barry isn't the sad sack Raimi's Parker was, but that tone, balancing humor and heroic old school daring do is what they should go for. Plus the number and varieties of powers and skills the Rogues as a group can throw at Barry allows the film makers to showcase what the Flash can do without having to resort to another speedster to thwart Barry's own incredible powers.

Again... I think it's easier to write from my POV than trying to make a convoluted story of why the fastest man alive has problems fighting off one guy with a single gimmick for a whole movie. If it's just Cold for example I think the audience will just go "how is this challenge to a guy we know can catch bullets?"

Make it a determined and experienced crew going up Flash and the odds seem less in Flash's favor I think. Look I love the Rogues BECAUSE they aren't the Bat villains. They mostly aren't psychologically deep. You could do what they did in SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING, sure, and basically rebuild them from the ground up, like with Vulture, but I don't know... Again the single gimmick thing is an issue for the modern audience I think.

For me if I were plotting this thing out I would hit these elements, which are more than enough for one film:

    1. Thread Barry's backstory (mother's death, father imprisioned, gaining powers) via flashbacks throughout the movie.

    2. Establish the Rogues as independent operators Cold brings together after each has had run ins with Flash and they attempt to put an end to his interference in their goals which includes consolidation of underworld power in Central City.

    3. The problems Barry has as someone balancing beinga novice CSI, a super hero, romancing Iris and working on his father's case.

I would keep the father stuff unresolved in this film but hint at RF and maybe also hold off on Iris and Barry immediately becoming a couple.

I really wanna see Gorilla Grodd.
I never see anyone bring him up as their choice for a villain and I don’t know why.

Get the team that worked on the apes movies.

I think Grodd's issue is that for a first film it is alot on multiple levels. For one you can't have Grodd without Gorilla City. So already, even for short sequences you are adding a lot budget wise. Second you have a first film that should concentrate BATMAN BEGINS or SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE style on it's hero. Taking time to explain where Grodd comes from (and sorry, no, a giant telepathic, genius talking gorilla is gonna need some explanation to the audience) to invest you in the character.

Establish this version of Barry first I say with bad guys that don't need too much build up.

Grodd is a sequel villain I think. Once the world is introduced you can then start throwing curve ball at the audience. That's my take.

Rock Duer has been cast as young Barry Allen. His only other role was also as a younger version of Ezra in We Need To Talk About Kevin.
Edit: could just be a rumor.

I can't see them not showing us the mother's death in some capacity so a young Barry would be a must.

Yeah and I wonder who would play Barry's mother Henry's wife in a flashback sequence

They can do a decent comedy, but I'm hoping for a lot more than that.

I'm not saying they're a bad choice, but I've yet to be convinced by them.

I think game night is a little more than a comedy
There’s more to it than just it’s jokes.

Justice League kinda killed my excitement for this movie but it’s definitely starting to build again. I can’t wait for production to start moving. :D

I remember back in 2015, the director of DOPE was announced to direct. That would have been SWEET

I'm pretty much the same. It'll be interesting to see what form this movie takes after the JL fallout. I can't see an actual Flashpoint movie happening. At least not for a while.

Clemons said she is still Iris

I will be so happy if they make a good solo Flash film with Ezra, he's one of their aces.

They need to hold off Flashpoint for a later time, maybe 6-7 years at least, it could be their Civil War

If they do Infinite Crisis way down the line, Ezra is key as well, they need to not mess him up.

All things considered, I agree. I was in two minds about it anyway. It did seem kinda early to be looking at doing FP (although a lot of people were thinking it could be the DCEU's DoFP). One plus would have been seeing Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Thomas Wayne/Batman. If they ever do it I hope he's still around for it!

All I ask is his characterization is a lot better than it was in JL.

As a performance I was entertained by it, but it wasn't 'Barry Allen' to me.
