McWeeny is not a pretentious d-bag that Faraci can be at times.

Absolutely not, totally agreed. I respect McWeeny, never will have an ounce of respect for DF.

Just saying though that Moriarty's lack of regard for the film and skepticism for the filmmakers' talents and studio's motives sound almost on the level of DF... almost. Which is unfortunate.

Obviously he's entitled to his opinion and it may be a very valid one, but I think he's got blinders on which is keeping him from enjoying the film at face value.

At least another reviewer from AICN has the opposite opinion. Capone loved it, and I found his review beautiful to read (with spoilers):

Indeed, you've saying Uncle Ben's death has zero weight and then you have Capone saying that Uncle Ben's death in ASM is much more tragic.

Given Sony's current financial situation being what it is TAS could do Avengers money and Sony would still be in the red big time. At this point I want Sony to fold and let the rights go back to Marvel.

Even though it's a different situation (the origins was done over 30 years ago) I wonder how people will react to another reboot with an origin: Man of Steel?

The thing is, Superman Returns was already a bit of a reboot. So this is kind of the third go around.

We shall see. The thing is about the MoS is has a true chance to be something we have never seen before, given the hero and how much tech and superhero storytelling has changed and advanced since the original film.

Not so much the case here.

7/10 on the RT user rating (the number that matters way more than the %) so far... I hope it's better than that current score.

The more reviews I read, the more "saddened" I get. This is NOT the Spider-Man film I wanted. I'm still going to see the movie, I'm not THAT stupid, but I really wanted an excellent film and this is sounding like one of those "Eh, it was okay. Don't see the point in it" kinda films. That's not what Sony should have been going for. That's not what WE should be going for. I mean, this doesn't mean we won't like the movie. Hell, I bet most of us will. But didn't we all want something fresh, unique, and completely vibrant compared to the Raimi franchise? From the reviews I'm reading, it sounds like a darker, better acted version of the same film we saw 10 years ago with a different villain. And...that's not okay with me. I really expected something unique. Eh, whatever. I'll keep my interest up for the sequel. They might pull a Dark Knight on us...hopefully.

Still excited for Tuesday, albeit a bit less  :spidey:

Even when some negative reviews aren't really biased, I think many critics are being too harsh on it just because what position the movie is in, and I think that's a little unfair

What does this mean?

You are a fickle one, aren't you? Sounds like you're just honing in on what the negative reviews say and taking that as a fact as to what the film will be.
