Part of the intrigue is in "how" they come back together. It's not like the first movie depicted them exchanged phone numbers at the end or how to get to Thor on Asgard. They all went their own ways. Speaking of Thor, we saw in the end-credits he went back to Earth but it's not known whether he reached out to the others.
For me personally if I see them already together on a mission, it'll back track on Fury's comments at the end . almost glossing over it.
I know Joss said it will basically function as a direct sequel to TA but what if they give everyone a quick rundown of where everyone has been leading up to AoU similar to how they started TIH? It could serve as the intro and also catch up people who may have not seen every movie in phase 2 so far.
Just a thought
Same here. Sleeping bags ready.I'm so camping outside of Hall H for the whole weekend![]()
I took Fury's line to mean that humanity would need the Avengers and they would return. It's not irrelevant. The SHIELD/HYDRA situation makes Furys "we'll need them to" comment irrelevant. There is no organization for him to get them back together. Its now Tony and Cap making those calls. So that considered Tony couldve already got everyone back right after TWS occurred and started doing his own thing.
I dont believe in a need to show a reason why theyre back together or some opening credits montage to show whats happened leading up to AOU. You can easily just jump into the current story with everyone rolling along. The audience is intelligent enough. You start off where these characters are in their current lives (like Godfather II).

Who knows, maybe. I thought the people in those places would also drop into the forum that combines the whole thing every now and then.
At the end of TWS, BW talked about how they are the best defense and "You know where to find me" which I assumed meant Avengers tower...since SHIELD is gone... also Maria Hill is working for Stark and Banner was hanging out with Tony at the end of IM3 and they rode off together after Avengers. Cap and BW are bros as well as BW and Hawkeye.
The only person that needs to have explanation for rejoining is Thor...and he is already on Earth
I don't think that's necessary. If people really want to know, they either had an opportunity to see them at the theater and if not, pay a couple bucks to see it on video. Otherwise, this film should be dealing with itself on its own terms and not be caught up in whether or not people saw the other films. The beauty of the first film is that you didn't need to even see the others, as preferable as that would have been, it functioned on its own. Whedon wrote it in such a way where you knew exactly who these people were and where you understand them and their motives and reasoning behind everything in this narrative. It's great screenwriting and should be applied to all comic book and franchise films.

"Disney's presentation then turned to Marvel Studios with president of production Kevin Feige in attendence and "armed with the first footage from Avengers: Age of Ultron." Sadly, The Hollywood Reporter didn't offer a description of footage shown, but did reiterate that writer/director Joss Whedon is "half way through a 100-day shoot" for the Marvel sequel. Despite reportedly skipping Age of Ultron set visits last week possibly to avoid inevitable Edgar Wright questions, "Feige also played sequences and an interview montage from Ant-Man, including contributions from Peyton Reed."

I'm in favor of starting with the team reassembled. If we're going off Fury saying that the team would return when a crisis great enough necessitated it, surely SHIELD being annihilated and HYDRA rising up to take over the world qualifies.
^^ I think Joss will drop bits of info that clues us into how/why theyve got to where they are, he just wont spend any more time than whats needed.
