I'm actually partial to the idea of saving Sinestro for GL 2, myself. That way you can make his betrayal of the Corps an actual "shocking" twist, after spending a decent amount of time building him up as a sympathetic character. Or, even better: be really heretical, and have him be the antagonist *but not the villain*, by making him the harsh, ruthless, *but loyal* GL. Hal has to beat him not because he's a traitor, but because he intends to solve some problem in a really ruthless and brutal way. . . and to do that, Hal doesn't just have to punch him out, he has to come up with his own, more noble solution to the existing problem.
Sadly, its not to be, even if they do make a sequel.
