I still maintain that the TDK/R suit looks ugly in set pictures, but did look fantastic in the films. I rewatched the trilogy last night and one moment that particularly struck me is the shot of Batman surrounded by the SWAT team in the Prewitt building.

You can barely see it, and the awkward fight choreography distracts. Does that help?

The part when he's standing still. Cape hanging down nicely, light hitting the right bits. Yes, you can't make out all of it, but that's a pretty standard trope for Batman films.

One more before bedtime... Enough fleckin around...

I think I'm definitely swayed to the black/grey now...

Also, after my like, 50th picture with Ben Affleck's face, I can't imagine Batman having any other chin... I find Fleck's jaw fits better than the majority of the originals I'm replacing...

This looks cool.

I've been thinking that perhaps the utility belt being yellow is unnecessary. In the New 52 Superman's belt became red to keep the same main color as before with his trunks breaking up the suit. But Batman's stayed yellow instead of black like his trunks to break up the grey. But without the yellow oval or anything the yellow colored belt is just kinda random. What's the point? To have a target away from his head? The crotch is the last place I'd be directing bullets.. And I do think its one of those things that isn't essential to Batmans visual and might be just naturally done away with in the next few years (Arkham Origin already showing this).

Another thing too, this being a Batman/Superman film, it'd be kind of coincidental that both of these characters ended up with dark suits that had yellow belts separating the mid-section...

Batman and Superman have always shared a number of traits, including, the belt. The colour of the belt doesn't have to be explained away, it's entirely inconsequential.

Solid black and grey from head to foot, including the belt, doesn't look right to me. It is somehow excruciatingly drab. If the belt isn't yellow, it should at least be plan tan leather.

You can't compare Superman's colourful costume with the black/grey colour scheme of Batman. If a belt recolouring works for the first, doesn't necessarily mean it will work for the other one. It is a matter of visual aesthetics and in colourful designs it is more pleasing to swap colours than in black/grey combinations.

Since we're talking about it, I made some variations on belt color. I think bright yellow should be a thing of the past, but here's a few takes on not-black or not-gray.

Yup. Been saying this for years.

one more option, for those who want a non-yellow(or yellowish) belt, but think there should be a nod to it. Personally, I think brown or tan leather is the best, because it says "tool belt" rather than "police equipment" belt, and I don't love the idea of Batman as a policeman even though he essentially is a super elite combination beat cop/detective.

Also, a note re: material since we've discussed it many times. I don't think we'll be getting this in the movie, but I really do love the idea of the material of the cape/cowl being a heavy leather exterior that is lined with super high-tech bulletproof fabric. I think the cowl and cape shouldn't necessarily be one-piece (we don't want someone to be able to yank his head back by pulling on his cape, etc.) but I think the cowl being a hard molded plastic isn't my favorite either - it could be more heavily armored than the cape. I think the suit itself would do well as either tin-cloth or gabardine exterior on top of bulletproof material, with padding on the other side for comfort when flush against his body. Belt would also be reinforced heavy leather.

Yup. And not even promotional pictures, just awkward spy photos.

I really love the mesh under armor plates look. I've seen the suit in person, and it's gorgeous despite being more on the busy side. But with the benefit of great cinematography and lighting...it's all a non-issue.

Oh yeah. I'm not keen on busy suit designs (Injustice being the worst offender that I've seen) and I too have seen the suit in real life and it looked good. The spy pics did make it look far less flattering, especially with the awkward rubber plates creasing. I do hope we get a far more stripped-back suit this time around however, more in line with what the comics have been showing for the last 70 years.

Matt Damon is now weighing in on the suit:

Only a handful of people have seen Affleck in the costume, and even fewer have talked about it. There was Kevin Smith‘s enthusiastic ramblings after a “Man of Steel” fan event, and now Affleck’s best bud, Matt Damon, had told MTV News what he thinks of the getup.

The Academy Award winner stopped to chat with us at the red carpet premiere for “The Monuments Men,” the film directed by former-Batman George Clooney. Damon admitted that he has seen a photo of Affleck in the costume and that he knows a thing or two about the story.

“I’ve seen a picture,” he said. “I have seen a picture. It’s excellent. And I’ve talked to him about the storyline, and it’s great.”

I feel like the only person who hasn't seen the suit

I still maintain that it looked like **** regardless of where it was shot. Just a horrible design all around.

HORRIBLE! :barf:

Only thing that worries me is right now the suit must be nearly finished, you know, final details - just like Cavil had a final fitting just before shooting began to confirm his body shape etc.

Batfleck has been seen, but his body is no where near in batman shape - so what does this tell us about the suit? It's a lot more forgiving? Not as tight to the body, will we even see a suit - is it all CGI? Does his role allow us to see him properly utilise the suit??

they make changes to the suit as the production goes on.

It's been said to be more fabric, like Capt. America's, so don't expect it to be skin tight form fitting.
