I typically don't dig the natural eyes look, but on this suit, I agree the eyes should be kept.

I did a quick Fleck job on Spider's image. I love the original appearance suit, but I don't at all want it as part of the movie universe except MAYBE as something you see in the Bat cave, as some have suggested...

Scruffless, for The Shape ;)

And scruffed, for ME! (this was a quick job - but it did reveal that I like the white eyes best with Scruff, and natural eyes a little better with a clean shave look)

So Batman has to match Superman in the costume department?

Well BattleAngel already said I think of it, its something you see in the Batcave in the background not as the filmverse.

If Synder does it then fine I would be happy since I love the original first apperance.

Me likely. :hubba Great work to all of you. Now that's a Batman. Dare I say it's absolutely terrifying when he smiles. :wow:

LOL. Glad you like it, Loca. I love your posts on here. :)

The more I look at it, the more I like it too... I think it would be really interesting to see the 100% terrifying version of Batman, the kind that would really make kids scream in terror the entire time. I don't think we'll get it, and I can't say I *want* it, but I would definitely be pleased as punch if they went all the way with the Batman as almost-villain concept. But if they give him those crazy ears, they sure as **** better give him his freaky purple gloves ;)

Simple flattery isn't enough to domesticate this sultry beast kind sir. If you would like to tame me you shall have to do it after a proper meal as I will need the energy to rock thy world and a girl's gotta eat. :o

But seriously, thanks, and I love your work so far. It's nice to see more contributors in the manip thread. :D

I sincerely hope that Batman looks that terrifying in BVS.

I think he can look quite terrifying without deviating too much from the cowl sillhouette. I'm with most people who think the ears look weird, but I am also strangely drawn to that look. The weirdest part about it is seeing so much of the top of his head. I think it's going to be hard to top this:

I give TDK trilogy a bunch of guff, but the Bat Demon and the whole fear gas sequence is one of the coolest things that will probably ever happen in a comic book movie, let alone a Batman movie.

I think the Batman INC, suit would work really well in live action.

no I do not like that "cowl". it looks like some kind of space helmet from the 30's.

Probably cause it's from the 30s ;)

Here's another look at something I like. Batman, clearly after having an ass kicking. This is one of the moments where I definitely like the natural eye look. He needs to be able to be a real human being in situations like this. For me, I want the suit to be versatile - demonic when it needs to be, and not off putting when he's talking to people like this. I also really like it when Batman does show his human side to people like this - the scene of him with the kid in BB is a bit cheesy, but I actually liked it.

I think the short ears look pretty decent here, too.

Regarding that "1939 Batman" design...I fail to see how Batman's ears being at odd angles somehow makes him any more terrifying or inherently "weirder" as a concept.

I think it's just that people are less used to seeing that design.

You can see that the thinking behind it was probably developed from a hood/cowl, with a kind of horned domino mask like Catwoman used to wear over the face.

To me, it's an uncanny valley effect that happens in two parts:
1) As Regwec said, we're "used" to a certain thing for Batman, and so when we see something that is almost Batman, but not quite Batman, it makes us nervous.
2) Batman's traditional ears obscure the top roundness of his head, and lets us know we're not looking at a traditional looking person. It's a person in a costume. But when so much of his head is exposed (you can see the entire dome of his head), it makes it look a little more like a person with distorted features, also freaky.

It also conjurs up 30's era design, which connotates one of the darker periods of the 20th century.

All that said, I don't like it for a modern day Batman!

Here's my first crack at sequential Batflecking. I really like how in this, the eyes are exposed, but not made up with black makeup. I am hoping the eye makeup is a thing of the past. I don't like the image of Batman having to put on makeup to be Batman. (I do like that, however, for Joker). In my mind, this is what Batfleck would look like when his eye-lenses are retracted and he's trying to look like a normal person.

I agree. It's a fine manip, but I really don't like that cowl. It's just awkward and silly looking.

Okay I see The Guard's point, but I don't think anyone is saying it's more terrifying than the mainstream cowl. How about someone try that manip with the other one?

It did start off as a domino mask, before Finger suggested a horned cowl.

I figured it was just supposed to be reminiscent of bat ears.

Yes, just as 60s Catwoman's domino mask was supposed to suggest cat ears.
