Yeah, that's not pretty, but I still think the interrogation room when he's still sitting down is the worst, by far. Lookin a lot like Toucan Sam in that scene. :barf:

I hope they ditch the gliding. It's nonsense and unneccessary. He can still jump from a moderate height with his cape spread for effect but using it as a parachute to glide from extreme heights, I just can't buy it (this is where someone points out that it's a movie with a superpowered alien).

That's what the grapple gun is for anyway.

I actually dislike the glider cape. I don't know... Just the idea that Batman has like some kind of personal flight/gliding capability just feels off. I know people like it, and I understand what makes it cool to people, but I am against it.

Wow, lots of TDKT haters crawling out of the woodwork. No iconic images? Nothing "totes epic"? Pretty subjective measures there.

Pretty funny that 90% of the examples of "iconic images" offered up are from an entirely different medium. Not really a fair comparison.

I don't understand why filmmakers were so obsessed with that awful rubber disaster? From 89 to 2012 we were "treated" to that clunky rubber Batsuit. I know a movie being good is the most important thing but there is no reason why we can't have a good movie with good costume design. I'm sorry but I can no longer accept bad and bland costume designs in Superhero films.

Criticizing the Nolan Bat-films does not mean one hates or even remotely dislikes them. Why do I have to keep explaining that to fanboys?

It makes him a bit too "super" and safe - he pretty much never has to worry about heights.

It kind of makes him Falcon or Condorman almost. That's not meant to be one of his abilities. It was pretty much invented by Nolan.

At the MOST the cape should be able to *barely* slow down a straight down fall from one story high.

Oh, you're right, Nolan was, like, tots epic with everything Batman. Every shot was monumentally superb....and stuff.

Yeah, the shots of Bale in the BB suit in TDK aren't the most flattering because he wasn't filling out the suit. Was probably even a little thin for the TDK suit in that movie too, but I thought he really filled it out nice in TDKR.

But alright guys. I've got a few martinis (plus a glass of scotch) in me now so I'm feeling a bit loosey goosey and want to get this off my chest. This is my attempt to hopefully start bridging the gap between the two "sects" of fans we seem to have here. (Utterly futile I know)

Seriously...I hope all of you guys get what you want and get a Batsuit that makes your hearts sing in the new movie. Even if it's something I'm not as fond of, because I've been lucky enough to enjoy most of the on-screen Bat-suits thus far and I'm grateful for that. Honestly, I'd be really happy for you guys (though if we're to trust Kevin Smith...we'll ALL love it :yay:). I'm well aware that people have been clamoring for the grey and black (or blue) fabric since well before Batman Begins came out. I get it. Just from all the manips that have been done over the years, it's clearly something that a lot of you are very passionate about. And that's awesome.

Just sometimes it gets old to hear some people constantly ragging on the Bale suit over and over and over and talk about it like it's somehow objectively aesthetically offensive. And it's doubly frustrating when I know SOME of the people who constantly rag on it and call Bale's head a "bowling ball" are the same people who sing the praises of the Burton suits and seem to happily overlook the fact that Keaton's cowl was way too big on him in the first movie, for one. It definitely looked goofy in some shots. But the good still outweighed the bad, and that's how I feel about the TDK/R suit too.

But I digress. You guys should be happy because I have a feeling you're going to probably get something much closer to the comics this time. My .02 on the matter.

Looking like a straight up bobble head, and having a cowl that was "a bit too big" are two totally completely different things. Sure, the B89 suit wasn't perfect, but neither was the TDK/R suit. So trying to compare "rights and wrongs" is a bit futile.

PS: TDK suit sucks

The armor that Bale wore was as much a thematic symbol as anything else. He is THE DARK KNIGHT. I see what Nolan was going for. Still, I think a lighter costume and a more swift and agile presentation of Batman's movements when in action will do us all a world of good.

PS: No glider cape. :oldrazz: :word:

That's essentially what I said though. My point is it's all subjective. Something that doesn't bother you as much might bother me more and vice versa. Plus there's nothing "straight up" about that exaggeration.

don't mean to sound like a derp but what's the difference from the cape from the comics to tdkt's cape?

I think you're right - people are being overly sensitive and harsh on some of the DKT shots.

I took that picture we've all been laughing at, the closeup of the BB suit in TDK and did some absolutely minimal tweaks. This is just to illustrate that with the very simplest of stuff, this horrible shot can quickly become something not at all bad. Even with a cowl shaped for Christian Bale, a few elements make it something pretty cool.

What I did here- a half-assed crack at the white lenses, and a very quick insertion of Affleck's face, as well as some primitive manipulation to make it look as though the cape is draping over the shoulders and melding with the cowl as many have asked for in previous manips. It's not my favorite of everything that has been posted up to this very point, but it's far from wretch-worthy.

This really illustrates 2 things:
1) Unless you REALLY mess up, Batman is going to look pretty cool no matter what, if we can just get over ourselves.
2) Since this image is based on literally the worst close up shot from TDKT, and I made it better in 15 minutes, we are almost certainly going to get the coolest looking Batman ever, unless they mess up seriously.

And... in my opinion, it illustrates one last truism though others will disagree... The white eyes f'n make him BATMAN and not just an actor in an uncomfortable mask.

That looks worse. Lol

****in lenses look like **** in live action.

BattleAngel...a better class of critic.

I actually like it. I don't know if lenses are ultimately what we'll get, but I dig it.

Here it is in black (lots of blue in the original pic).

If you think that looks worse than the actual shot from the movie, you're mentally insane or just hating to hate. The filmmaking technology absolutely exists to make the lenses look sick as hell in live action and there are countless manips of Batfleck with the lenses that look amazing.

Now here's a version of this manip you're allowed to hate... blue lenses, which I like but haven't done in a while. Very easy to understand why no one but weird ol' me will like this.

dark_knight24blacknblue.jpg

I'm not going to cry if we don't get the lenses- it'd be a bold move for sure, but the technology exists to make lenses work, and to make them emotive. I've seen so many cool shots of the lenses that provoke emotion despite the lack of pupil- and I really believe that the lenses are a huge part of what makes Batman look like Batman. Certainly, in every version of Batfleck I've seen, it's the number one thing that helps Affleck's face disappear into Batman's. Of course, this is an opinion... but since the technology exists to do it, I think it would rock beyond belief. And if it could be done in motion and look as good as the white lenses in these manips (it would look much better than my half-assed job), there's just no way you can say they "****in suck"

Or maybe lenses just look silly in live action, lol.

Oh, but that's right, you're, like, a photoshop pro. Maybe I need to be quiet with any opinion I have. :hmm

Got any screen caps to support your point? And no the stupid cell phone ones from Nolan don't count.

I mean seriously. "The technology doesn't exist"? Really?
