Please keep giving us the pleasure of seeing your work! In all honesty, your vision of Batman is truly breathtaking. And I think most here would agree that we see The Dark Knight come to life in your work!
Totally, his 3-D renderings really are the batman from the pages come to life

Just one shot like this, and I'll be a happy camper :)

I still feel this is the best way to do the white eyes...

With actual lenses, they'd either be too small for the actor and stunt doubles to see or too big that you have something like we've seen with Spidey, Green Goblin, and Hawkman that you lose the somewhat scary look that Batman's going for.

So, contacts or CGI I think, if they want to give him white eyes.

^ I think the best way would to be built-in lenses with lights that toggle on. And then have them be somewhat transparent when they are off.

I hate the lenses honestly. They look great in comics, but keep them out of the movies. After seeing something similar to them in TDK, I just laughed. The eyes express so much more emotion and lenses would just takes away from it.

What if the lenses had a real purpose? For example high tech lenses that allow Batman to see better in the dark (since he always operates during that time of the day) and serve to protect his eyes from tear gas and other dangerous chemicals.

^ I think the eyes should be treated like heat vision was in MOS. You shouldn't see it much, but when you do, it should be terrifying.

contacts wouldn't hinder the performance, heck they could even go transparent when not in use.

Tell me that isn't intimidating :word:

About the puzzle suit? Well, the mesh layer was a decent idea, as was the modular armor for that matter, more or less... but the overall execution was poor. And as much as I would like to lay claim to being cool and hippsterish now alas I said as much from that first sneak peek back in the day and it only got worse with each successive look we got at the thing. So I'm going to have to go with none at all.

Haha my question was directed towards a different poster who said he hated the entire TDK trilogy from the very first day. I have no qualms with people who dislike the TDK suit.

I do; quite prefer Wagner to either Lee or Adams actually... Wagner draws to a certain pulp sensibility that suits the character.

I like all of them, but yes, Wagner's style is just unique and very appealing to me.

Thank you very much! :yay: This one is truly dark..

You never fail to amaze me Vigilant! I could look at your work all day! Btw, I've seen your "Meanwhile, in Gotham city..." YouTube video literally dozens of times. It's just sublime Batman eye-candy.

created by bunk, a longtime SSH poster and I think still lurking around.

There, now you don't need to feel guilty anymore ;)

Thanks :)

The problem with attempts at lenses on film thus far is that they're too damn bulbous and bright... in the comics the lenses are effectively Batman's eyes and brow and move as such but that's not easily achieved in a movie costume where the eye hole needs to allow for some peripheral vision... doesn't mean you can't cgi the look. It just needs to be done right, like in the above.

Here's an old favorite, albeit a manip:

... and it works just fine.

Thus this one:

I know it was technically already done in BB and TDKR, but this shot is tons more atmospheric and creepy. I'd love to see the silent predator brought back to the character.

Is that from Splinter Cell? If so that's my favorite stealth game. In a way Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and Batman are alike.

I really like that game too. Sam wouldn't kill people he didn't feel he had to, using fear as his primary weapon.

And Ironside voiced both :word:

I'm not fond of the lenses idea. I like the ones in TDK, but those were given an actual purpose in the plot and weren't used too long. With evidence from the Michael Keaton movies, I think uncovered eyes are the best way to go.

Agreed- it would be a shame if a fly hitting his eye would be the downfall of the Caped Crusader! I mean when I've gotten a gnat or other bug in my eye, it takes me out until i can get it out. It sucks!

Not sure the sarcasm is really called for here...He does have a point. Gliding at high speeds and altitudes, being in close range of explosives and hazardous chemicals, being underwater, using night vision, etc etc. There are many practical uses for lenses besides the look.

I don't want to stoke a "teh realistic" debate but, having once been punched in the eye while wearing hard contacts, I can't recommend it.

Batman is incapable of being punched in the eye.

This fits nicely into the category of things that I don't consider worth thinking about, with all the suspension of disbelief that goes on in these films I think issues like contacts getting stuck in uncomfortable positions can be tackled by not even mentioning them.

I agree with you, but I maintain that you can't really make a "teh realistic" argument for the lenses, either.
