BvS The Batsuit Thread - Part 17

The city is locked down and he's out of the city locked in a prison pit god knows where, it's not stupid to inquire exactly how did he get back into Gotham. "He's Batman" isn't enough of an explaination for a version of the story that goes out of it's way to take all (most) of the fantasy out of the character and his world. Nolan can't have his cake and eat it to.

Even in a more fantasy based Batman I'd still be annoyed by the complete lack of an explaination but I acknowledge that I might be able to let it go easier if the film wasn't striving to be gritty and semi-realistic.

I'm not saying that the explanation has to be "he's Batman." However, BB showed us that Bruce was trained to be an elite infiltrator, and knows how to get to places without being detected. The key thing is that he did it without his money, or his resources, so the precedent is definitely there. That being said, Is it really so hard to believe this same guy could not do the same thing we had already seen him do before? In fact the city being locked down doesn't stop you from knowing how to infiltrate, so long as you know what you're doing. For comparison's sake, look at how the reconnaissance team was able to make it to Gotham in spite of the lockdown. They hid behind a delivery truck disguised as workers. It's certainly not impossible to assume that Bruce hid in a truck or vehicle set to go to Gotham.

That being said, it doesn't mean that it's impossible to make it through. In fact, the only thing Bane locked down were the bridges (accessible only when Bane's minions confirmed) and had his team of Tumblers searching around Gotham for any intruders.

Grant Morrison is overrated anyway. Never cared for his style.

I just want to point out that the Dark Knight shows that Bruce is the one to call in the South Korean smugglers for his Lau-napping, and that Batman Begins shows him in multiple countries befor being arrested, and established before he began that he only had some pocket cash on him. Add in Bruce's escape from Gotham with Selina at the end of Dark Knight Rises, and the films establish Bruce as an accomplished infiltrator and expert at international smuggling. And most of his trips were accomplished while keeping an extremely low profile, one that only the LOS ever proved capable of tracking.

So yeah, I do think its a load of crock to say that his arrival in Gotham's a plot-hole. His lack of resources never slowed him down in the past, and he's the (insert whatever hilarious profanity you want here) Batman. the film gave him the time to get there and the skills to get there, so get over it.
This x 1000.

It's established in the first two movies, what he is capable of doing when it comes to infiltrating. It's not a case of "he's batman, he's disappears so get over it" i understand how that can get annoying. But we see in Begins and Knight when he was in his prime as Batman, what he's able to do. Even as Bruce Wayne pre-Batman. That's how he's able to get back into the city.

I am sorry, but people who have a problem with that scene need to watch another movie genre. You only complain about it because you wanna poke holes into the movie, because the "OH YEAH, look the mighty Nolan finally failed" train left the station. I have never heard that complain from any other people but haters of the movie. Thats the only reason why you can have a problem with it.
But let me explain it to you:

He. Is. A. Ninja. For christs sakes! He stealthed his way onto some plane out of that country he was in, after walking to some town and hitching or stealing a ride. He maybe hitched a few planes all stealth like to get to the US, then stealthed his way into Gotham over the ice, or under the one functioning bridge and taaaaadaaaaaaaaaaaa, he is in Gotham. Thats if we act like he really was completely broke at that time (which he wasn't because how can he lead a new live with selina in italy without any money? He still has offshore accounts and money stashed away off the books, which is what every billionaire has.). If we assume he had money, he simply could've payed some shady people for fake passports and made his way back without being all ninja about it. Even a moderately talented black ops soldier would have managed that. Why people question that Batman does it is beyond me. Also the time between him escaping and arriving in Gotham are weeks. There is nothing... NOTHING plot holey about that.
Sometimes I really wonder if the internet is hurting some peoples brains. I mean, ten years ago, NOONE would have had a problem with this scene, but since the hate can spread so much faster today its like a virus and one person complains about something stupid to put the movie down and every other hater just latches onto that small thing and screams "HELLS YEAH,I HATE THAT SCENE! PLOTHOLE! PLOTHOLE".

So much anger.

I think he is the most inventive writer in comics after Alan Moore. You're entitled not to like him, but I think he earns the praise he gets.

I agree 100% with this comment.

As for Moore, I love his work, but he's one strange dude. :hehe:

Oh, and the new Batsuit and stuff.

I'm guessing that when he was globetrotting and getting training from cia operatives or some other intelligence operatives or even in his business life as the CEO Wayne industries He made good friends and probably contacted one of them who might have owed him a favor. that's how he got back to the states. as for getting back into Gotham well he's Batman and he knows that city well. He probably had a mini sub stashed across the bay like he did the Bat Pod in that building. or maybe he traveled the underside of the one bridge they left up? lots of possibilities.

This batsuit thread needs a little batsuit right now, so here's one I think is pretty much perfect:

^I agree with both.

He's creative but i still think he's overrated. It's just not how i view Batman.

Keep it simple.

Streamlined, organic, form-fitting. And hell, if they get the cape and cowl just right, then they've already won 80% of the battle.

Amen... Amen to that...
I am not one that thinks that TDKR is that great, but I also do not need everything explained. The rest of my thoughts would echo yours..

Plot hole? Or is the Colette lack of imagination of others?

But, that said, that suit sucked ...

I don't know you but if I see smth like this in the movie, it'll be AWESOME!!

I didn't want to give away a secret but since the costume will be revealed soon, I can't believe no one has made the correct Bat Symbol on the costume. It's right in front of your eyes people.

Are you referring to the logo from the SDCC reveal?

If so, it doesn't necessarily mean it will be the final logo, nor the one which will emblazon Batman's chest. We just had three successive films where the Batsuit featured a chest emblem different from the marketing one.

You know the suit's going to be revealed soon?

Probably just wishful thinking on his part. Can't blame him really.

With Godzilla coming out on Friday, and with production starting next week, WB may finally start throwing us a couple more bones.

I hope/implore/shamelessly beg.

I don't really want that suit, but I'm very excited to see how Wilkinson interprets the classic Batman suit considering his incredible interpretation of the classic Superman suit. Don't get me wrong, I love the classic Batman look, but this image just jumps out at me as a pretty good example of the suit design looking outdated. Would love to see a more modern interpretation of that design that just looks right.

Production starts next week? As in full on filming? Where'd you hear this?

That doesn't look intimidating or frightening at all.

Nor does any Batsuit, unless you are of a remarkably weak constitution.
