Has anyone seen if Bathead has posted his thoughts on it? I know he loves the long ears, so I'm interested in what he thinks of it.

He likes it, with the reservation you mention.

omg on the reading comprehension. Do you seriously not see what I was getting at or how it related to what you said? It's called internal logic and consistency. Just because one conceit is fantastical (a guy dressing as a bat) doesn't meant it needs to be executed in a completely fantastical way (a suit that looks exactly like the comics- why? because it looks cool).

Enjoy your strawman argument you've invented over there, as though I take issue with the concept of Batman. Unreal.

Strawman argument? I said that Batman is meant to look like a beastly creature of the night to strike fear in the hearts of criminals. The musculature is a part of that, PLUS, Bruce Wayne is meant to represent the absolute peak of human physicality so he supposed to be that diesel anyway. He's not meant to look like an honorary SWAT-team officer...and btw, this is coming from a guy who pretty much loved the TDK/TDKR suits.

What are you not grasping about this? Why do you believe internal logic and consitency will not be present in this film? Because Batman has muscles and you don't think he should? Because he actually looks like Batman now?

Far out. I would share a jernt with Mullet Superman.

Huh.

Poor marks for you today. Because I don't like design elements of the costume I'm not a "real fan"? What are these, praise boards? Seems like everyone just wants an echo chamber to repeat their own opinion back at them.

Why is it so difficult for the "fans" to accept dissenting viewpoints?

No you said it doesn't make sense for a guy being stealthy in the shadows to be wearing grey. That's Batman. Tell me you don't like the ears, or the belt, or whatever details, but you described Batman in general, and he doesn't make sense to you.

No marks for you at all.

Hey,I got no problem with anyone saying they outright hate the costume. That's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

But when you say things like "The """""fans""""" are easily pleased because it's """""""ripped""""""" from the comics!" you deserve an eye-roll.

This is the most comic accurate live action costume we've had for Batman in a generation. No reason to bash the majority for being excited.

Never understood the love of long/huge ears. Kelley's art always made them look stupid and in a real world context they'd be unwieldy as all get up.

For some reason it seems worse when it comes to Batman. You can't even be a Batman fan and say anything to the contrary. Par for the course unfortunately.

It's too bad you don't like it. Perhaps it will grow on you when more pictures of it are released? There's also still the tweaked superman suit and wondersuit to see. Perhaps those will be to your liking.

I never thought I would see the day that fans would hate a costume for looking too much like the comics.

I'd assume they'd go "OH NOEZ. IT'S TEH PUFFY. BETTER CALL BEN." :woot:
:funny:
"Who's a cute puffy...you are! Yes, you are!"

*The goddamn Batman breaks his jaw*

Lots of crying and pants wetting ensues.:D

Whiskey, I think that '6 Reasons' article needs a seventh addition.

But, you see, that's really not true.

Plenty of Batman fans and non-Batman fans have reasonable complaints about the suit that I and others have accepted and acknowledged. You just have to understand how your blanket statements of "too comic book-y" and "well-made cosplay" could by perceived as ridiculous by many of us here.

And I'm sorry, but comparing this to Cap's suit in the Avengers is another one of those ridiculous statments, if I'm being honest.

Yup. Spot on old chap. Tea.gif

you do know that's a black and white picture

Granted but even in black & white, does there look like anything on that suit that is not dark-colored? Maybe you can see it better than I can.

They look awesome?

I, for one, love longer ears and non-curved ears. Looks better.

I never thought I would see the day that fans would hate a costume for looking too much like the comics.

Well...I'm not really a fan, but if it ended up looking exactly like it came out of say, an Alex Ross painting, I definitely wouldn't like it...because it would look like someone trying to look like a comic book. :O

Well, it seems the Marvel fanboys are out in force, but I don't think the shine can be taken off this.

I have been arguing against the notion that only a black rubber wetsuit can work as a movie Batsuit for about nine years. I feel like I can close that chapter of my life tonight. :)

Seriously? People who don't think the new batsuit is the greatest thing ever are Marvel fanboys? Does that make you a Marvel fanboy as well, seeing as you hated the TDK suit so vehemently?

I'm a Marvel fan AND I love the new Batsuit..

What makes your insinuation about the people complaining that the new Batsuit is somehow less awesome because it is "ripped from the pages" being Marvel fanboys is that nearly everything in the MCU is also ripped straight out of the comics.

Seems even the Batsuit reveal isn't enough for people here to stop bringing up Marvel.

I hate the Kelley ears. I like them about Neal Adams/TAS length normally but I'll take the short ones over the ultra long ones any day.

the cowl, cape and gauntlets look like they might be black...it's hard to tell. If you look at the bat mobile in the back ground the tires even look grey

So how do moulded muscle padding/armour covered in gray fabric contribute to that over say- any other form of armour? It's not like criminals are going to be standing around examining him the way fanboys dissect every aspect of the suit. He's a guy who operates from the shadows and who takes you out before you even see him coming. Why would Bruce Wayne possibly care about moulded muscles? Answer: It's a conceit to sell the aesthetic to the viewer that he is a capable/powerful hero. Not my cup o' tea.

What are you not grasping about this? Why do you believe internal logic and consitency will not be present in this film? Because Batman has muscles and you don't think he should? Because he actually looks like Batman now?

Yes, because the Batman characters from the previous Batman films looked nothing like Batman :whatever:. No, I do not take exception with Batman being muscular, nor any other aspect of the character (hence your strawman argument denigrating me and questioning whether I was a "real fan" for dilking aspects of the suit)

Please do try to be a bit less condescening next time.

Just business as usual. The same people that criticize the "haters" all over the rest of the net for 'judging a film they haven't seen perform the same elitist attitude when people disagree with their thoughts; even though NO ONE has seen hardly anything.

As common as it is, it never fails to annoy the hell out of me.

My only gripe (and I'm sure someone else might have brought this up) is its lack of color. It could probably use a bit more, but other than that, it stands out from the TDK trilogy suits enough w/o going too far into alien territory (no pun intended). The lack of color gives me a bit of a Black Panther vibe in this particular photo.
I think it'll be black and gray. There's definitely enough of a contrast between the cape, cowl, and gauntlets in the original photo to come to that conclusion.

Once again, the look & action of the film I have absolutely no worries, doubts, or any form of hesitancy with.

...The only thing that has got me on the fence about anything is the story, Affleck as Bruce Wayne, & whether they're trying to cram too much story/characters in general. My thoughts SO FAR from what has been presented.

Same here.

The level of immaturity in this community is frankly astounding sometimes.

Yep.

To be fair Alex Ross takes the most LITERAL route possible on anything he paints. If it isn't fabric based, he'll MAKE it fabric based.
