Fair enough. I wasn't trying to incite an e-riot.

It is a great shot though. In fact, the only time I have any problems with the suit is in the promo images. It looks fantastic in motion.

I know you weren't. :cwink:

It's my favorite shot of Batman for sure, and it owes much to that eye shift we see him make... pure Batman there. And the suit did look a bit clunky in most promo images.

Once again I'll say this, this is my favorite shot of Batfleck yet.

He looks awesome, but I hope seeing him with guns won't be too often. Assuming it's something he uses against Doomsday specifically. I like to see him agile, hand to hand combat and using his batarangs and small explosive gadgets. Leaping through the scenes, untouchable by the enemy rather than standing there firing a gun.

I'm pretty confident that his use of firearms in the film won't be frequent.

I dunno, we'll see. We've already seen him with the sniper rifle on top of the bridge, and then we clearly see him with some sort of AR/grenade launcher, along with all the guns on his Batmobile/wing.

:csad: I did my research and I could not find the photos that appear in this video, anyone know where to find these pictures?

He's fighting super/meta/whatever beings, he's obviously going to use guns.

^ I'm okay with him making exceptions for superbeings. BUT I don't want guns anywhere in Gotham :/

I say that when you have batarangs and cool explosive gadgets..... no need for guns. :D

I see only one Batman here. And that's the one on the right. I enjoyed the movies fine enough. But I am probably the only one who didn't see Batman in those movies besides when he was in chase scenes. Bale is a GREAT actor but I just couldn't ever see it unfortunately.

You're not alone. Bale is one of my all-time favorite actors, but I never saw him as the definitive live-action Batman.

Yeah. For me There were too many distractions in his performance. So far Ben is living up to my support I've had of him since casting. And he wears and moves in the suit very well. Granted he actually has freedom to do so.

When I look at the suits, I see Batman both times. I will admit that I see it more like "Batman, THE DARK KNIGHT OF GOTHAM" on the left and "Batman, THE CAPED CRUSADER" on the right. Bale's world and suits, especially the second, brought to my mind a kind of neo-medieval fiefdom and a perfectly human man using resources to take on marauding warlords and barbarians. Affleck's have a more fantastical and mythological flair as of right now, what with the gargoyle-like image he portrays, the loss of an apprentice to a feud with a hated enemy, and even the way he seems more fanatically zealous about defending his city.

Same here. I've been rewatching the trilogy lately, reminding myself why I loved it in the first place (well TDKR not so much), I really love those films and Bale is one of my favorite actors, but he is just too bland as Batman for most of the time, to me. A shame really.

All this prisoner of the moment retro active backlash to Nolan's films (particularly TDK Rises) and Bale's Bruce Wayne / Batman performance is absurd.

Bland? He now has established the iconic voice of Batman. The growl is often imitated. Either being serious imitation or as overly nit picky parody.

Christian made the character more layered and nuances than he has ever been or probably ever will be.

The bashing of these various recent films which are by far the cream of the crop in the subgenre of comic book movies by people claiming to be Batman fans is absurd. And kind of alarming.

All we've seen is quick glimpses of what Affleck has done so far. I'm not even ready to put his performance based off that over Keaton's B89 portrayal let alone the man who carried the foundation of weight through nuanced and heart felt acting chops the way Bale did for an entire trilogy of movies spanning 7 to 8 years of filming.

That's just disrespectful. Bale exceeded Keaton and left giant shoes to fill. It's like any NBA superstar trying to chase the definitive greatness and GOAT that was Michael Jordan. Bale took the bar set by Keaton and moved it to the stratosphere. Too early to claim Affleck being better.

In regards to the costume? Yes his is more comic accurate but that doesn't make it better. Bale was still identifiable Batman.

And imo as it was show cased on film, even in harsh lighting is a better suit. And looked more believable as actual paramilitary or swat like real world armor. Modern knight like ... yet still retained the exact essence of Batman. He also looked quite intimidating.

The latter requires more atmospheric lighting for suspension of disbelief. Bale's given the use of more rigid and plated materials on the armor and cowl ... looks like actual armor.

Nolan went for more plausible.
Snyder went for more mythological.

Nolan's Batman looks like a practical warrior. Snyder's looks like an organic, living gargoyle ... with a textured suit that resembles Kevlar with armor underneath. But it definitely needs to be accentuated by atmospheric lighting or setting compared to Nolan's take.

I do think the backlash against Bale is a little harsh, but I don't think he set the bar as high as say Heath Ledger's Joker, for instance. (Bale is one of my favorite actor's BTW, but I don't think it's one of his better performances).

Also, his suit was terrible and doesn't even hold a candle to Batfleck's.

King23DC

It's not retroactive nothing, I've always been somewhat disappointed with Bale's Batman, especially since I liked the casting choice quite much and that he is known for playing dark and intense characters well, so I was hoping that he'll bring more of that into the character. Unfortunately, he didn't. And I find that particular growl to be limiting his performance on more than one occasion. Anyway, that's my impression, and no one was able to change it since "The Dark Knight", so we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Again, I love those films, but I have always found Bale's Batman to be lacking in few departments.

I thoroughly agree.

I still love Bale in BB, but after that, it just went downhill for me.

I still like his Bruce Wayne, though.

Yeah, that's why I said "since "The Dark Knight"" and not "Batman Begins".

I also like his Bruce.

Batman Begins was absolutely stellar as a batman movie and Bale shined in it.
The Dark Knight was a magnificient movie with one of the most perfect portrayals of a villain ever. Bale's batman was however a shim of his former self bar the introduction where he was 'out' catching crooks. apart from that, Batman went from BB as a man on a mission, strong, fearsome and respectable, to a psychologically-scarred and mentally hurt boy that was taking on the big guys but made many weak errors.

the catching of the joker imho was very anticlimactic. and the way they 'terminated' the hugely potential character two-face was just insulting. i loved the movie in itself and it was, as a hero vs bad guy amazingly well, but it left a huge open wound that was not at all adressed in TDKR, where batsy was a weak pathetic reflection of his former self. his sudden return as batman was executed pretty well, but immediately after that, things got even worse.

so yes, BB was amazing, and the rest was downhill, despite TDK being an insanely good movie in itself.

either way, i wasnt really bothered with the portrayal of the suit in either movie.
i think indeed the BB suit was the most fitting one and showed more 'bat' than anything else, where TDK and TDKR were essentially black spraypainted motorcycle suits.

i liked how bats could 'fly' with his batsuit. i am curious on how they're going to let batfleck fly.

Interestingly enough, I think he delivered his strongest Bruce Wayne performance in Rises. While the film itself didn't quite prove to be equal of its predecessors, Bale himself is not to blamed for any of that -- at least not in his portrayal of Wayne.
