Nope. Same "scratches" are on Superman pic as well:

As for the cowl, they could have used a specialized one that folds back like in "Watchmen" with Nite Owl... I think it's impossible to claim that the cowl is not really there on his back right now.

First, the picture is perfect! Ok that's outta the way.

Second, outs not impossible. It's pretty clear it's not there.

You don't see a bunch of white lines in lower left corner of the pic?

Well, there is something there, could be that the cape itself has a shorter "neck" as some say... though if they could use a different cowl for Nite Owl, I don't see why they wouldn't for Batman as well.

I was referring to Cavill as Superman. CBM perfection.

You're willing to tell me, looking at that picture of Ben with the suit on and the cowl off lightened up... You think the cowl is still there behind his head? Like honestly? It clear that it's completely detached.

And just because they did something for one movie costume doesn't mean they'll repeat it. They are totally different cowl and neck designs. Bats has a thicker neck and traps. If it folded back the neck and traps would still be there. His bare neck wouldn't be able to be seen

Nite Owl's mouth opening was significantly bigger/wider. It might not have been as believable or even feasible to pull it back.

Ah, that... agreed.

Well, while I do agree that his regular cowl is definitely not able to fold back, they could have used one that does for this shot. It does look like it's completely removed, but what I am willing to tell you is that I don't write off the possibility that it's still there. Wouldn't claim it one way or the other as of now.

Good point.

So tried to make it as light as possible, and changed the hue a bit, what are those things shown next to the arrow, it looks like that's how the cape gets clamped together?

I can respect that.

I'll just leave this here if you gents care to reference or juxtapose it against the Empire pic above.

Well we gotta keep in mind whether the tech cowl is the base layer of this cowl or the mechbat cowl. If the base cowl is the tech cowl, there's really no way it can be all rubberized and be stretched and pulled back like Nite Owl's. It becomes a helmet essentially with all the hard metal parts in it.

Yup! I'm really starting to think the tech cowl goes under the armored cowl though. That would possibly explain the glowing eyes with those pull down "glasses" the tech cowl has.

So this is where Batman's cowl supposedly sits on top of his neck area (or at least the visible part where it will most easily come apart):

Looks like the cowl is attached to the cape at the bottom of the neck with 4 snaps.

Oh, you're welcome. I saw somewhere earlier where someone mentioned they had brightened up the image. So I just thought to do that. I mean, it's kinda sad that he can't fold the cowl back, but then again, the cowl wouldn't have the form that it has if were that thin that it could fold back. So that's the tradeoff, I guess, and it probably wouldn't be believable enough to have a thick cowl for most of the time, and then have a thin cowl when he's folding it back.

I will say this, though. I really, really, really, really, really love this batsuit. It's perfect, imo. I can't imagine a batsuit that translates better to the big screen.

They could have shown him START to fold it back, then cut to a sculpted "folded back" version, sort of how they do on The Flash. A minor cheat.

But it's not a big deal. What they've gone with a lot better than Batman Returns' ripping the damn thing?

Not only that, but I've just noticed that you can see the sides of the cowl part tuck into little slits on the shoulders to hold it down:

I only recently noticed this too. Also it looks like the caped is seamed shut under that tuck which means the cape mostly likely won't be shown drapping over the front of his body. Too bad. I was hoping we'd get that look.

Oh yeah, looks like it's permanently folded back. :(

Maybe it's done that way for filming and/or display purposes (i.e to be pinned back whenever they don't want it to flop forward), and then they use an un-stitched one when needs require? It's certainly possible.

I think that's the case.

That's definitely plausible and something I'm going to hold on to with my fingers crossed. This Batman is too awesome not to have that image.

It was in the concept art so we have that!

I like your optimism. Although we all know not all concept art makes it to production. But let's just put it out there in the universe.
