I manipped Alex's Ross' painting to look more textured. Also made the hues a bit darker, but not borderline black.

It DOES look a bit Nite Owlish, but more cloth-based.

I'm really hoping we get a Batsuit reveal this month. I cannot wait for the first promotional shot of Ben Affleck in his Batman costume... really holding out hope that this time we get a Batsuit that skews closer to the comics.

I'm hoping for something like this (don't mind my lack of journalism experience, as it probably shows :yay:) -

Dateline: Monday, January 6th, 2014
Headline: HAPPY BIRTHDAY BATMAN - YOU GOT A NEW SUIT!
News Story: Who ever said an old dog can't learn new tricks, or in this case "bat"? Even with his 75th birthday celebration coming up later this year, Batman is getting a refreshingly classic revamp.

With the Man of Steel sequel (formal title still to be announced) a mere 18 months away from it's release date, and following a mixed internet response to the casting choice of the coveted role, the first promotional photo of Ben Affleck in the new Batman suit - "Batfleck" as he's been so lovingly dubbed by fans - was released this morning. Needless to say, the internet has already been inundated with a wide range of fan comments.

As seen in the released photo, the most notable change to the suit is the color. For the past 25 years of Batman films, audiences the world over have become accustomed to variations of a mainly all-black batsuit, most recently in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy. In his upcoming big screen appearance, the Caped Crusader's digs have taken on a more comic-faithful design. By utilizing a blue and grey color scheme, this Batman's look hearkens to a more traditional depiction of the character as seen over his almost 75 years in print.

Costume designer for the Man of Steel sequel, Michael Wilkinson, was quoted in the recent press release as saying that even though the classic colors were indeed influential, the design still needed to be brought into the 21st century. With the use of new materials and a slightly darker color palette, the new suit has a more gritty, yet streamlined film-worthy appearance. Also, with the addition of the famous "white eyes" commonly used in his printed adventures, this new Batman does indeed take on a look we've not seen on film before.

Ben Affleck as Batman, and Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman, will face off for the first time in theaters on July 15, 2015.

That's *really* nice. I love his take, and those colors/textures are great.

I really do apologize for the crappy hack jobs, but this one isn't *that* bad is it?

That's actually kind of cool! The only two things I'd change personally, is just lower his left eye slightly, and change the cape/cowl color to be slightly more blue and a bit darker. Other than that- it looks awesome- good job!

Yeah that shade of grey is perfect, but I would like the blue to be a bit darker. Otherwise it looks great

As I live and breathe, people who don't want to run me out of town for my manips! haha.

I know... that eye is killing me. I have really unsteady hands and only my track pad, so creating the eyes was tough - I might tweak that shot.

In the mean time, you guys have encouraged me to try another one. Thank you very much, I love doing it even though I'm terrible at it, but it's like meditation for me so I appreciate some of the decent feedback.

Bat-Fleck leaps! I think this is better coloring (not mine), and I think the textures are pretty appropriate and show off how a form fitting cloth approach can be done using high-tech fabric (nanotube for the body and kevlar weave for the mask/cape). I think Ben's face actually looks pretty sweet there. It's always a ***** to find a good donor face. The angles available are terrible... and that stupid grin... lol. I think he's going to crush the role though, in a good way.

For your consideration, I took an already cool image by BattleAngel and just did a few adjustments...

Hey- don't sell yourself short! This stuff takes practice and time- you're doing good work for just starting. Just keep tweaking:yay:

BatFan1979, maybe you can do something with that one?

HA! Yeah, I've always loved the satin blue look:oldrazz:

I know you're most likely just havin' a laugh, but if they really went this route for the movie, it would be an epic fail!

Thanks- I had a great image to start with:yay: I love tweaking other artists' work - it's a blast!

I don't see anything I can adjust on the second image really...anyone else have any thoughts?

Nah, dude. It'd be an epic win!

They don't even have to make the belt. :woot:

Nice! Seems like a pretty good collectible - I think they should have gone with a light grey background above the belt and a blue satin below the belt for the display case respectively to match the era batsuit.

Imagine if there is a flashback to Batman's early years...... and he uses this costume
