You learn something every day. Why did they do that?

I have NO idea but thats how i and all the Swedes are used to seeing him. The Phantom was (and is) a very popular character in Sweden. We even had "Fantomenland" Phantomland in english, a Phantom-related themepark!

It opened in 1986 and closed in 2010. I went there as a kid, great fun. :word: Although i caught one of the phantoms (on his break) smoking...:wow:

Here is a picture from Phantomland, it's The Phantoms skullcave!

Do you think the blue scheme was used in Sweden to echo the Swedish flag?

Haha, yeah, thats a possibility! Although i think it was simply a screw up when they were printing the comic the first time. Or maybe they thought he looked better in blue...Only the covers where in color, inside it was all black and white.(Nowadays it's in color and i think The Phantom is purple)

From a visual standpoint:

Blue Superman + blue Batman = too much blue

Blue Superman + blue Batman = too much blue

I disagree - if you look at the Avengers, there's a LOT of red going on between iron man, cap, and thor. Iron Man being essentially all red, cap & thor having both. I think it would be fine for WW, Bats, and Supes to all have blue as their scheme.

Blue(unless really dark) does NOT look good. How can some of you think it looks good?!
Unless the blue is really dark, it looks stupid.

The 70s batman blue would look terrible on screen.

Midnight blue would work best, if blue was to be used.

Sky blue however? No....

Depends on the tone of the movie. In the Nolanized super serious world of superheroes? Yea, it might look a little out out of place and kind of silly.

But if the movie scales it back a bit - which I expect it to - and isn't ashamed to have a little fun then the blue batsuit can be all kinds of cool.

^ You can't have ANYTHING that's a design feature, except for two Bat-symbols, a bright belt, and a weird piping design around the neck.

:funny:

That was a nice shot of the TDK suit which for one reason or another looked pretty good in TDKR. I think Bale was just too skinny in TDK which made both the begins and TDK suit look like poop a bit in certain shots.

I agree. Batman is teaming up with a flying alien. That's already unrealistic.

I think the same way! The suit looks soooooo much better in TDKR. It looks like they brightened the grey areas on the chest a bit and made the shoulders and chest bigger and more muscular. I mean, look at the scene where Bruce comes back to the cave wearing the suit without the cowl. He looks like a beast!

But back to Batfleck: I am intrigued by the blue suit idea, but it shouldn't be as bright as some of the manips around here. If they would go for blue, I would want a much darker blue, like the suit in Arkham City (which has a blue tint that it didn't have in Asylum and Origins).

Somewhere far far away on another website someone is going.

Obviously that's just my opinion, but I think the 3 main characters all being the same/similar shade of blue might not work. I think they'll make Superman's suit a bit brighter since he'll probably be appearing a lot at night alongside Batman. Were there any real night-time sequences in MoS?

Uh no. That blue looks ridiculous. Unless it's the 60s series, keep it away.

Is that really a logical reason. It's really not.
 yes, let's put him in a sky blue cape and cowl, that sounds perfect.

The B&R suits are darker than that.

What works in a drawing does not always work in real life.

Don't slap yourself too hard now, you could hurt your hand:woot:

But.. It's not real life.

It's live action, yes, it's real people. It's "real life". Thanks.

They're not going to make Batmans costume sky blue.

Again, what works for a drawing in comics does not always work on real people with real materials and lighting.

This has been debated ad nauseum- we have agreed that blue in a muted shade would work just fine.
