Oh, that is a different shot than I thought you referring to, see photo in my previous post.

Still seems consistent with Bizarro. He could be panicking because he realizes he isn't the real Superman or something.
I have seen nothing that makes me think it is Bizarro. I said it before you guys are reminding me of the dude who that Cavill was playing Bizarro in BvS because of different looks on his face and a general dark demeanor. And that was in actual trailers not out of context BTS shots.

I don't think this is the third act either...I would bet it is somewhere in the middle where Superman is in a fight and the Terrifics (or whatever they are) show up to help. I think the cuteness stuff is being filmed to offset the more corporate dbag stuff of Guy. In fact I bet Guy will even say "look at that guy, worried about what kids think...protecting the squirrels!!" in a mocking tone.

The fact that Gunn has said nothing we have seen gives away anything really tells me this is exactly what it looks like. If he was filming a version of Bizarro...that would kind of be a big plot point ;)

The full context of that crowd scene seemed to be that Superman watched a video on a phone that then disturbed him and everyone else. I don't think it's Bizarro.
Maybe someone shows him a clip of the doppelganger doing them evil deeds. Maybe that's why they're scared of him.

I have to admit, I'd be a little disappointed if we get Bizarro and and he does just look like a pale Corenswet. I hope we get some elements from his comics design like the chalky white skin and large brow. If that's him though, I suspect he's only starting to deteriorate.

What you're describing is exactly what an Superman would do but taken to the max. Almost like he's "learning" or trying to act like Superman.
Or he is just doing it and you are seeing what you want to see ;) :p

I won't lie it is an interesting theory but it just doesn't pass the smell test for me. You are basically saying part of the film is going to be seen through the eyes of SuperClone...so Superman gets sidelined in a film that was originally called Superman: Legacy? The last attempt at Superman made him a passenger in his own story (supposedly) now you are saying they are going to do it again? That we are going to follow SuperClone as he tries to be Superman? That sounds pretty terrible and will get ripped to shreds by Superman fans.

Otherwise what is the point? If we the audience know it is SuperClone the whole time why would we care? Why isnt Superman doing something to stop him he must know right? Is he using SuperClone as a shield somehow? Is he missing somewhere? Why would you do this in a film that is introducing Superman for the first time?

First, it's not called Legacy anymore. Second, that actually would tie into his legacy. I'm not sure how long of the movie you'd think it would be, and the idea Superman himself wouldn't be doing something at that time. Like Superman II. Where Clark literally has no powers for a chunk, but is still very much a part of the film.

I already wrote my theory in this thread. It answers that second paragraph.

Why the extreme skepticism? It is a fact that we had a scooper last fall say that the movie's story involves Lex Luthor creating a Superman clone called Ultraman in the movie. A scoop which Gunn did not debunk in his usual direct manner.

Nine months later, we get set photos of a big dude in a full face mask with a big U on his chest manhandling Superman.

Now we are getting some slightly unusual actions on set like a crowd scene where the crowd reacts weirdly to Superman and he shuffles off walking funny or alternatively him stopping mid-flight to talk to a squirrel.

Naturally, we could be wrong, but it is more unreasonable and illogical to consider those who suspect a clone/Bizarro storyline crazy or without any basis for their theory.

Also, how is shooting these potential Bizarro scenes an obvious spoiler? Clearly the public are far enough away that we don't know for certain.

It's all theories right now. Because we know nothing. Which is why the speculation is fun. No one here is Gunn. And even if they were, he sure as hell wouldn't be leaking his movie. :funny:

I mean this one doesn't come from nowhere at least. Last fall, there was a scoop that the film involves Lex creating a Superman clone called Ultraman. A scoop that Gunn refused to debunk with his usual directness.

Lo and behold, 9 months later we get a big guy in a black suit and full face mask with big U on the chest manhandling Superman during the shoot. That's some pretty decent circumstantial evidence in my opinion.
That doesn't mean the Superman in the pictures is that clone though...

I'm super curious why the giant masked dude with a U on his chest is just dismissed.

1. Dude's Superman's size.
2. He has a giant U on his chest.
3. He's masked.
4. He works for a crew arresting Superman.

This is the Speculation thread. Speculating involves risk and sometimes we get it wrong. That goes along with having any actual ideas. Those who just spend the entire time poking holes in others' theories aren't taking any risks and aren't really contributing much to the discourse in my opinion.
Hey! I feel triggered ;)

(I am not very creative :( )

Can I just hope he's pale because he's been through a Green K ordeal please?

Does it mean it isn't? No one knows. But if you believe in the Ultraman/Bizarro idea, that's where the possibility comes in.

Superman acting strange could be down to kryptonite of some sort. But that's another theory.

I just don't get why people get territorial about theories.

Then just be nice to the people who are trying to come up with theories to entertain everyone else and pass the time between now and release! :hehe:

Okay... New theory. Lex Luthor has body swapped with Superman.

He's excited by the Squirrel because he's finally seeing the world how Superman does, All Star style.

Honestly, no huge deep reason... I just find him really boring. I have tried so many times, but I never connect with him or give a crap about stories with him in.

Even on S&L, which had an arguably more interesting take (for me anyway) I just... don't care 🤷‍♀️

For this movie, I also just feel it'll take way too much attention and screen time away from Clark & Lex & Clois.
I agree...most of the time Bizarro is a one note character and the stories are kind of trash. There are some wacky silver age stories with him that are fun but honestly most of the time he is just so...blah. Zibarro though is way better!

The main reason I buy into Ultraman/Bizarro, beyond the big masked dude on set, is the theoretical utility of such a "villain" is it keeps Lex hands off for a flick (though he could always power suit up), while giving Clark and the other heroes someone to deal with. Him tossing around the other heroes works well. Also, if this Superman suddenly "buys in" to working with that group, another nice little dynamic.

Why does green lantern wear mostly white in this? Like I've seen all of his comics outfits.... We'll at least Gunn is keeping with all the superheros are wearing motorcycle jackets....

But Superman 2 is a sequel so we had time with both Superman and Clark before he loses his powers and runs off with Lois. Plus, we were following the machinations of the villains so we were occupied elsewhere. That can work in a second film, but will feel off in the first film.

And just because it isn't called Legacy anymore doesn't really change the point. I doubt the story changed when the title did. And I just don't see Gunn telling some side story with a SuperClone and making it work in the way you have it set up. It is too messy, and I can see the criticisms coming a mile away even before people watch it. It would make more sense if the Clone was a reveal much later on hence him wearing the Black Suit when they arrest Superman. I dunno it just feels completely disjointed and out of place in the first movie of a franchise.

But we shall see :)
