A single success is not enough to win back the general audience. Did the success of D&W also turn Cap 4, Daredevil and Thunderbolts into successes?
It will take time, planning and a much higher average quality. And it is not even certain that you will be able to regain the audience you had before back again.

Those films were duds because the MCU has been aimless after Endgame with no real promises of the next event film being tied to the other like the Infinity Saga. The general audience was in for that entire lightening in a bottle joy ride. It's virtually impossible to keep up with once you end such a once in a lifetime string of hits. Things were always going to reset. Fantastic Four, though, could lay the seeds to that prior MCU formula if their ever was a franchise to build off of towards another phase of storytelling. Time will tell.

I think the mutants have a better shot at it.

If they can double dip in that regard and have a beloved and well known property like the FF4 hit alongside the eventual X-Men in MCU form, Marvel got nothing to worry about. They can go in multiple directions if they ever-so please. For DC, everything is riding on Superman or say hello to the never ending Bat-verse.

July will be a crucial month for both DCU and MCU.
I hope for both to succeed and be loved by critics and audience, even though I didn't like the Fantastic 4 trailer.

This may be the biggest summer for the genre ever for absolute sure. Let's hope because success breeds success, and this may be the last chance for connected universes to still be around. If all of this fails, DC vs Marvel crossover will be the next hope lol.

It's just too early to know. Box office is wildly unpredictable now. I feel pretty strongly confident Jurassic World will be the biggest hit here, that probably goes without saying tbh, but Superman is an absolute toss up. Neither it being a huge hit or it completely tanking would remotely surprise me. I think its the most likely to underperform out of the three - DC is a brand damaged possibly beyond repair for the foreseeable future, there isn't a single marketable or popular face in the cast, the GAs famously Odd relationship with Superman - but it could also be Really Good and therefore catch on.

I think Eternals, Quantumania and Love&Thunder back to back destroyed Marvel almost on the level of what BvS, Suicide Squad and Justice League did with the DCEU. The horrible TV series, the lack of planning and narrative coherence are doing the rest.

The fan base was larger and more consolidated over the years, but most of the general public has lost it and it is never easy to win it back.
Love And Thunder made a small profit.
The other two and The Marvels slowed the momentum of the franchise.

I've never been one to care about box office predictions or final numbers, the only thing that will matter is the holds from weekend to weekend. If this thing has legs that means it resonated with people. That's what WB should consider a success. If it has a large second week drop then I'd be concerned.

I will say, I think what the previous 2 reboot movies failed to capitalize on is the Lois and Clark relationship and from what I've seen, they are bringing it back finally.

Sometimes I wish I would have never popped the forum cherry when I did and get lost in this wormhole and just enjoy movies for what they are instead of box office receipts, studio turmoil, and critical reception, let alone toxic fandoms left, right, and center. Shame that we can never go back though. Addicting for sure:smile: This will all end someday and we will look back and yearn for these crazy times.

You don't have to stay in the toxic loophole.

Of course not, but I enjoy all of this because it's my hobby. I won't allow the misery of toxic fans take me out of what I enjoy doing. I look into all of this as a creative outlet to mingle and bounce brainstorming ideas and thoughts in these make believe worlds. If I feel topics and toxic personalities are bringing me down? I step away a bit. I got better over time at doing that.

You won't see me post every single day like I use to, for instance. But I'm always around and keeping up with things at a distance on social media platforms. I tend to not be wasteful with my words and only hop in when I feel like I have something of substance to say rather than add just to add. But in a weird way, the toxic loophole is apart of the game. As I said, it's addicting. Deep down, I remind myself that I love Superman and always have. The love for the character will always bring me back in any capacity. I love talking, debating, and immersing (for better or for worse).

I've been lucky enough to see 2 superman reboots now and hopefully this third one. Most of the complaints today are the same as previous years.

But I'm a big believer that movies speak for themselves when they are released, and good movies find a way of resonating. Plus, the internet is a bubble and most people are in fact, not online constantly, so these things have very little effect on the outcome.

Exactly this.

Exactly. The outcome is our entertainment and films (or anything for that matter in these realms) are subjective in any faucet. There really is no rulebook when it comes to movies, art, etc. What resonates with me may not resonate with you and vice versa. It truly is a personal experience at the end of the day. We're lucky to even get lost in these worlds judging by how the real world works today. I live in real world situations 99% of my life. The other 1% like the world we are in at this moment in character-texts is a welcomed choice and freedom.

I don't think Brave New World will affect FF4 in the slightest. If anything, FF4 may be beneficial to the MCU brand if it is a hit because fans are salivating for these properties to hit again and the fanbase may be waiting on that film since Mackie is a carryover from the older storylines that doesn't seem to have that much interest or pull. Plus, having Captain America as a title and not having Steve Rogers in the film is asking for trouble. FF4 set as a summer MCU Blockbuster should not be takin lightly in the slightest and Jurassic World being an alternative for the audience after two superhero genre releases is a good spot for that franchise.

Superman has its online distractors, and every single day is a new Warner Bros Discovery mishap of the company in dire waters. Superman can be the hit we all need it to be if you want to live in hyperbole, but we got ourselves trapped in this bear claw before and when it snaps, there's no recoil. All I'm saying, is tread this thing lightly. Throwing around the Big B word and talking about next level stratosphere's reminds me of yesteryear. If it does reach those heights? More power to us, and we're off to the races. I'm just approaching things with cautious expectations a tad differently than last go-around because at this point, seeing is believing.
The problem with Marvel right now (and the pitfall of shared universes in general) is that there isn’t a story that is being told or that the GA is invested in. Therefore each film’s premise must stand on its own. Arguably, Shang Chi could do that. As could Guardians 3 and Spider Man NWH. But most other post-Endgame films just haven’t been able to pull that off. Audiences aren’t going to just go and spend their money just because a film has the Marvel name attached to it anymore, especially if it’s major plot revolves around a character like Thunderbolt Ross, who has never been much more than a plot device side character to the vast majority of audience.

Is it time for a new trailer yet? I need to see more of this!

Feels like the first trailer came out so long ago.

Can't wait for all the 'laugh' reacts to it, though.../s The amount of snark and shade this film gets online is tiresome already.
