Yeah, for me it's a bit the same: from what I've seen, Gunn can seem like a
"one trick pony" and the connection with Superman isn't obvious... but he's also said a lot of things in interviews that make me think he could be going in the
right direction.
Who knows the outcome, but I can also totally imagine a scenario where Gunn continuing to alienate fans regarding Superman's general on-screen treatment while still delivering a more popular film than the previous modern adaptation.
Even I, who am not a great fan of his cinema, must admit that the few films and series I have seen of his are always at least entertaining
(with the exception of GOTG2, which I found very bad...and which was the last of this series that I saw...). So, there's that.
I totally get what this is going for, and I do believe this light, friendly Superman is the way to go...
... but it also reminds me of Levy's Shazam a bit... which is... a danger.
