Because Gunn could have used the current actors, and applied the vision that he had, and you could have seen Henry Cavill in this exact same suit, or a suit possibly similar to what we saw today... I do think that when Gunn was given the reins, he could have done something that would have mended the bridge that Walter Hamada and the past regime burned, but he didn't, and that's probably why these people hate Gunn so much... because there was potential, and instead of blossoming that potential, he gave up.
No, he couldn't have because he's clearly going for different takes on the characters that require different actors. Also what potential? Cavill ****ing sucked. He deserved to get ditched.

I tried… couldn’t make it past the pilot. I feel like I can’t watch CW styled shows now that I’m 35 and not in high school. Something about the pacing and such, throws me off.
As @Lily Adler likes to point out, I’m almost 50. And S&L is not the typical CW show.

But I guess it’s not for everyone. I just see Hoechlin as the closest to the Clark in the comics that I’ve ever seen on film. And Tulloch is the closest to my favorite iteration of Lois from the comics.

But heres hoping that Gunn does right by them as well. So far, everything is looking really great.

I'm 36 and a therapist. I Love that show 🤷‍♀️
I rally wanted to… heard good things about the guy playing Superman and the whole new premise aspect of it all.

I wasn’t trying to be too mean, I was a SMALLVILLE kid and still have a soft heart for most of that up thru s6.

I also struggled to get past s1 of Titans. When also heard was different and good.

Heavens to Mergatroid! Can’t the Snyder guys let us have a day to enjoy our set photos in peace????!!!
No one said you can't... I never said you can't...
like I said earlier, I'm not a die hard Snyder fan... never have been, never will be...
this whole thing started because someone said that Snyder fans that have no faith in David's performance even though they haven't seen the performance yet are lunatics... While I think they're wrong, I think saying that David's performance is gonna be flawless and perfect is just as incorrect, because just like them, you haven't seen him before him either...

I'd encourage you to give it more of a chance that the pilot.

Watch up to 1x11 - if it's not grabbed you by then, it probably won't. (1x11 is peak).

What loyalty do you owe to someone else's vision if you have your own?

It's ok for people to come at these very old properties with their own ideas for something new. It's what you want from creatives for the most part - to put vision and story ahead of politics, appeasing old fanbases or what have you. Snyder's version had its day in the sun, enough movies for a fairly heavy Blu-ray set, so it's not like it was over before it began. If a new director feels no sense of obligation towards them, it's not sneaky or underhanded, it's just moving on.

Fam, I'm gonna put this as delicately as I can.

The notion I've seen perpetuated here and elsewhere of Snyder fans being "wronged" or "owed" or "needing an olive branch" is, well, a patently ridiculous one. We're adults. These are movies about cartoon characters. There have been plenty of Supermen before Cavill, and there will be plenty after him. This is not serious stuff.
And this is the reason why many Snyder fans don't like Gunn fans... for this reason alone.
Why should they blindly accept you when you humiliate and insult them at every turn? Heck, I saw this happen back when Superman Returns was coming out, and the first suit picture was released, and the incredible divisiveness that people had between Donner's vision and Singer's vision...

I'm on nobody's side, I'm on my own side, I see merits on both sides, but this divide is only going to get worse before it gets better if both sides cannot put aside their differences, And I'm not saying that just to those who support James Gunn, I'm also referring to those who support Snyder and blindly think that Snyder can do no wrong

“The Snyder-verse is dead. Bury it. Consider it mercy.”:o

I honestly don't have any loyalty to anyone... when the concerns this character, I'm loyal to Superman and Superman only.

To say that "Snyder" had enough movies for a fairly heavy Blu Ray set... I question that, because when it concerned the original lineup for what Snyder wanted to do with the DCEU, there were a number of movies that were never originally meant to be made, yet those movies were the very movies that hurt the DCEU and made it the laughingstock that had turned out to be... Black Adam was meant to try and bring back the original vision that Snyder had, and I honestly do think if Black Adam was released in China, it would have made a much better international box office run than what it originally made.

Snyder absolutely had his fair share of time with Superman, I'm sorry. Why should one director and their vision continue to monopolise all Superman films for decades?

I'm on nobody's side d, I'm on my own side, I see merits on both sides, but this divide is only going to get worse before it gets better if both sides cannot put aside their differences, And I'm not saying that just to those who support James Gunn, I'm also referring to those who support Snyder and blindly think that Snyder can do no wrong
"Blindly accept."

"This divide."

Again man, we are talking about movies about cartoon characters. People can trade barbs at each other all they want. Doesn't change the fact that when it comes down it it, this is not serious stuff. I've been attacked by Snyder fans too. Here's the thing. I don't give a ****, because it doesn't matter.

Snyder had three movies. That's more than most get. If his fanbase can't come to grips with the reality of the situation and keep an open mind toward the future of the character they supposedly love, that's on them. And I harbor no sympathy for that.

Have all comments toward Snyder been fair and in good faith? Certainly not. The point remains, he had three goes at bat. We've SEEN his finished products. We haven't seen a single shot from Gunn's. They are not the same.

The DCEU got mocked once BvS released and it was the following movies that tried to at least course correct. Some did it better than others.

But my point is, if we see gonna point fingers at what made made the DCEU a "laughing stock", then point it at the movies that laid a horrible groundwork. Snyder directed BVS and it's his vision that doomed the DCEU as a shared concept.

I'll withhold opinion on the suit fit and texture until post-production and trailers, but that collar is bothering me. It looks especially stupid from the back, just this random blue part that just pops up from the cape. As a team no-trunks guy, I'm ok with trunks, but trunks with collar just looks off. Can't put my finger on why, but it should be one or the other, not both.

It's because they clash. The collar gives royalty vibes, the shorts give campy vibes. And I don't even hate the trucks, I just think they don't work with the top.
