I'm not saying they have no standards when choosing films, but when Nolan goes, they are not tied to him; If they like the new director, script, etc. there's no reason to think they'll say no. I don't recall Michael Gough and Pat Hingle quitting even though Burton was gone because they understand that it's how the industry works.

Let's be honest - Michael Gough and Pat Hingle aren't exactly the same caliber actor as Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, and Michael Caine. Freeman, in particular, knows he will always have work if he wants it.

Hingle I'll give you even though I disagree, but Gough was definitely of the same caliber.

something tells me the bane is going to be a mix of bane and black mask. hardy may be able to gain weight and muscle, but bale will still tower over him. i wonder if they'll do some camera angles ala lotr to make bane look more physically imposing, since nolan doesn't use cg that much?

I wonder if they'll have enough time to bring something out to Comic-Con.

Considering Hardy has already started working out, and costumes should be finished, and a May start. . . probably just a few kick-ass promo pics.

Let's say Bane takes control of Gotham. Do you guys think it would be cool to see a mob meeting called by him similar to TDK's, but filled with various freaks to show how Gotham has changed? I think a couple of cameos would be awesome like Black Mask among others...

Watching Dark Knight on TNT now and makes me wonder how Harvey Dent would of reacted if Rachel would of chosen Bruce instead of him!! Plus hes dead as a door nail his story arc was wrapped up in the 2nd film, he was just a man broken down, he wasnt going to have henchman and become a villian in the 3rd that would of been poor story telling. Whos to say that the 2 cops the Gordon mentioned at the end wast Rameiz and the crooked cop at the bar that Dent killed!!

Just read this on IMDb

"Tom Hardy put on 3 stone (42 lb) to play Charlie Bronson, doing 2500 press-ups a day for five weeks."

That is quite impressive, but his shoulders and deltoids were bigger than his pecks in Bronson.

I think Bronson was a short shoot though. So I think he can be big but he'll be a different type of 'big' for Dark Knight Rises, the sequel to The DARK KNIGHT, the sequel to Batman Begins.

The thing about this "no more mob" concept is that...the mobsters still EXIST. We saw about a fraction of them in TDK, and there's no way the Joker could have "wiped them all out." They just simply won't be the biggest game in town or calling the shots anymore. Mob = Henchmen. Not obsolete or out of the picture, imo.

That sounds reasonable. Maybe even a short teaser trailer that's only dialog, no footage. Like the first Dark Knight trailer.

Yeah, I've always thought of Gough as fantastic, even when he's just doing voice work!

It's surprising to see anyone 'round these parts putting him down at all.

i dunno, it seems like filmmakers would just be setting themselves up for disappointment because, honestly, how can you top the pencil trick? also, what has bane done to call the shots and get the heads of the mob into a room together? in TDK, they met up because their money was stolen and NONE of them took the joker seriously until he clearly established himself as someone not to **** with.

Agreed. Gough's performance was the only thing consistently good about all four films of the previous franchise.

True, but it also depends on how many mob bosses there were in that meeting. Which ones were bosses and which were just goons? Joker took out the Chechen and Gambol. For all we know Maroni(who is the top guy)is dead too.

I agree that what's left of the mob are just henchmen now. I just don't want to see too many mobsters in this next film. It's time we got some more villians from Batman's rogue gallery. Bane and Catwoman are great to have in this next film, but I'm still thinking there might be one more villian, and I'm not sure if it's that rumoured second female they were supposedly casting.

Roman or Rupert

TDK and TDKR can both fit nicely into an extra long tie-in game. It would also be a great way to bring ledger-joker back, much more tasteful than recasting him in a movie. It's only fair since TDK game was canceled.

Roman or Rupert

Hell no to Rupert Thorne's fat ass. That's what I meant when I said I don't want any more regular mob types in the next film. I'll take a Roman/Black Mask over Thorne any day of the week.

What about a mob controlled new DA that brings Bane to Gotham to help them get rid of the Batman? Even make it Rupert Thorne be the DA...

So...now that we know that Bane and Catwoman are in the film, I'm going to bring up another tired point of conversation.

Dick Grayson.

How would people feel if he was in the film? Personally, I wouldn't mind at all. If the death of the Graysons was somehow involved in the overall plot scheme, I think it could work. Plus, Dick's personality could do something to elevate Bruce's feeling of isolation and loneliness.

Thoughts?
