unneccesary and unfortunate? im sorry has anyone seen this new design yet? i just dont see what the big deal is....yet. lol. ill see what he looks like before i put forth my opinion. at least as far as the design and look and all that.

If there's no William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross in Avengers, I'm "bummed." He was perfect and it doesn't make sense to do a Hulk story without him, especially since there's an obvious conflict to explore between his agenda and SHIELD's.

If a sequel to The Incredible Hulk with The Leader, etc. is off the table at this point, they may be unsure what to do with the character. It would be possible to look at some more recent comics and do a film based on "Planet Hulk," in which SHIELD would blast him to a distant alien planet where he eventually reigns as barbarian king. It would certainly be different to what most everyone expects from a Hulk movie and it would give Marvel yet another way to introduce more cosmic concepts and characters into the films.
It would also present the option of later doing a "World War Hulk" film, or not.

Is that not Sal Buscema's Hulk? I know that John Buscema did draw a great looking Hulk, but he isn't automatically associated with the character. Also, I'm pretty sure that is Sal's artwork, and the signature in the black and white picture looks like it spells Sal more than it looks like John even though the first letter could be read as either an S or a J (but the following letters look more like an A and an L).
yeah sal of course.... my mistake:doh:

I was thinking about this yesterday, I think one of the best things they can do is follow up on the leader, than down the road do Planet Hulk after Guardians of the Galaxy and cosmic-type stuff is established. Plus, by then maybe there can be a proper Illuminati! :awesome:

...just perhaps without Reed :csad:

Same.

Still gutted Norton isnt coming back, but I really hope they dont change Hulk's appearance from TIH as I liked that look. Agreed on Thor, cant wait to see it, but the green goliath is the one I am waiting to see more of.

Yeah Norton was good but let's see how Greg plays him. I get the feeling that his looks are going to change.........again.

Is nobody else worried about what the hulk is gonna look like? So far it doesn't sound to great..Mark Ruffalo's face, 'big green and bloated' and walking on all fours..?
They got it perfect in TIH, I don't know why they think they need to redo it...

Me.

This is the second biggest problem with the movie franchise, the design of Hulk. Number one being a voiceless/non-opinionated Hulk, when in his 50 years of comics, being a boisterous anti-hero has been his distinct calling card.

I too thought that the design of Hulk in TIH was just about perfect, but Marvel Studios just can't seem to understand that Hulk (foes included) does not have to be a GIANT to make them appear like powerhouses. I think a 7'6" to 8' Hulk should be max. What makes Hulk hulk is not his height so much as it's his girth.

I don't know if the these actors or interviewers have seen the making of either Hulk or the Incredible Hulk, but in Hulk, Hulk had Bana's face which bothered me. Hulk in TIH had Norton's facial mold and scar, but his face was distorted enough that you could vaguely tell it was him. This is the route they should go. I don't mind a hairy Hulk, as it may make him appear more brutish.

This is perfect.

I agree, this Hulk looks great, I just wish they tone his size down some. If i remember correctly, Hulk is suppose to be about 7 foot, maybe 7 foot in a half. He is not suppose to be 9-10 feet tall. That's outrageous for a guy that is suppose to be, what, 5 foot 10, as Banner.

Hulk hasn't been 7ft since the 80s lol.

:O Go to show when the last time I bought Hulk comics. :O

Hell yeah, although I don't mind Hulk being 9 feet because that's around the size he's been in recent comics.

9-10 foot is a good height for hulk, it just puts him that little bit ahead of the tallest human.

I'm glad you agree...I feel like it's a pretty big issue that's being overlooked.
This isn't typical fan boy whining by the way - this is simply an 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' look at things. They had a great design in TIH and it would help with the consistency and continuity if they stuck to it.
And yes, I'm well aware it's not totally fair to make judgements on something we haven't even seen yet. Yes, the design very well could be the most breathtakingly perfect Hulk possible and I'm just a whiner.
But we've heard snippets from Ruffalo, and to be honest, 'swinging arms like a gorilla', and ESPECIALLY 'just like me but green and bloated' sounds terrible.
Bottom line: when I look at the Hulk in the avengers, I want to see the Hulk in all his big green comic book-glory, and nothing even resembling a big green Mark Ruffalo-esque gorilla. That would really take away from the movie in my opinion.
But the motion capture thing is great. I love that they chose to go that direction because I feel like Ruffalo doing the motions will bring it all together. It's just the aesthetics of the Hulk himself that I'm concerned about.
That's honestly my only worry with this entire film, which so far is a good sign :woot:

I think we tend to forget that marvel studios is behind all of this, I highly doubt they're going to give a a big green boated ruffalo gorilla hulk. The producers, director and animators know what the hulk is supposed to look like, and I don't think they'll fail us.

^^^ Yeah, Ruffalo is just the actor after all, he doesn't have any major say on Hulk's design.

7 feet is good too. I just like him a wee bit taller than the average NBA center.

Hulk hasn't been 7ft since the 80s lol.

This is true. Most of the time he's drawn about 8-9 feet tall and even taller in comics. When Ang's Hulk came out I think Mike Deodato Jr. was drawing the comic and his Hulk appears to be 10 to 12 feet. But what works in the two dimensional world does not always translate well on the big screen.

Hell yeah, although I don't mind Hulk being 9 feet because that's around the size he's been in recent comics.

In TIH movie he was portrayed at nine feet which was just a little too big for my taste but not as bad as Ang's GIANT.

Exactly. If it ain't broke...but we all know about artistic rights...which can sometime suck.

I don't think we're whining about being concerned with a new look, especially after the previous one was so satisfying. Hopefully the new design is just as likable, although I can't see it.

I really hope Ruffalo was just exaggerating about the arm movements. This is another concern of mine that falls into the category of the "voiceless" / none verbal Hulk, they are focusing too much on the "primal rage" aspect of the character and turning him into an 'animal' instead of focusing on what he initially was when he was first created and what he's evolved to in his 50 years of comics. Hulk has more to offer than "primal rage" though I admit his unbridled rage IS a big part of the character, but only one part of at least five other major parts I can name. Some of his traits are he's brutally honest, extremely loyal to the people he considers friends, protecting of friends, highly emotional and very sensitive which is why his rage gets the best of him.

I hope they don't turn Hulk into an ape in this movie.

Quick question to those of you with "The Incredible Hulk" on Blu Ray:

Does your copy have a box in the upper right hand corner that says "Enhanced View" throughout the whole film? Mine does and I think it's a defect. I just want to know so that if it is I can return it and get a new one. Thanks.

My Blu Ray is now in my PS3 (at least it's still good for something!) and I don't see it.

Ruffalo's comments aren't based on his own personal ideas for redesign, his description of what the Hulk will look like is based on him actually seeing the concept art. That's why I'm worried a little.

Yeah, i'm sure Ruffalo will be good in the role but it doesnt like they are keeping the Hulk himself the same, which will piss me off a little.

I think Ruffalo will bring the empathy for the Banner character that has been sorely missing. I hope that the creators don't miss the point that Banner and Hulk are literally opposite sides of the same coin.
