That's fair. I'm definitely not feeling the Terry Crews idea. A black Jew with blue eyes could make people wonder if Reed created his best friend in a transporter accident involving Sammy Davis Jr. and Sinatra.

I just want a more traditionally Jewish Ben Grimm. We haven't even seen that on film yet. Someone with that trademark humour and mannerisms and unmistakable appearance.

I would get Seth Rogen. He would look right and already has that gruff voice and teddy bear-like personality and would be able to do the humour justice.

Definitely don't want a pasty brooding guy like Jamie Bell. And I never thought Michael Chikilis was right.

That would be really cool and make a lot of sense.

But what are the doing to telegraph it?

What other movie for that November release date, Willie?
November '61... the issue #1...

They made a big deal over 10 years of the Studios... could fanboys like our Fiege ever dream of missing it, if the rights were back?

Just as Inhumans was a place-holder for our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man coming home, my money says the Eternals is the same for the FF. I feel that they will be working a story that can easily be turned to a FF tale, with the main tale of the Eternals pushed back, but kept to film, later. I could see it, and I'm sure that would be doable. Most say that Eternals would be the November 21 movie... and that merely adds fuel to my supposition. A prime, hallowed date to fanboys, us older ones, who still set store by certain dates in history. What better Jubilee, than the FF coming officially home on their 60th birthday, as far as when they were released.

The rest is tenuous, little vapors, like "They are coming home" things said in interviews, but hedged by the deal.

I have wondered, since the first, Willie, if that whole meeting of Iger and Murdoch was to close the FF reversion deal, and led to more when Iger dropped some hint that they (House of Mouse) would be interested in buying more. We know Murdoch hated what FFINO did to his bottom-line that year, and was very open about its impact then and since. If the whole mess was going to Disney, I think Murdoch might have asked to hold off admitting a transfer of the Four, or said it was a all or nothing deal, to get rid of what he no longer wanted, and get a bit of the Disney wealth-generation.

But for now, we are all inside a Tom Petty song...

We gotta take it on faith,
and take it from the heart.
'Cause the Wa-ay-iting is the Haaaaa-rrrrrrrd-est Part.

Yet Ben is also a test pilot... so there is a hard edge in there.. could Seth pull off the cool of a Yeager wannabe or revival in a new era of space travel and speed?

How much money do you have to bet?
I just hope The Eternals does well at the box office given how many fans have no idea who they are/are in denial. It's a bigger risk than GotG, because if that had lost money instead of raking in $775 million, they could have completely ignored everything in it until the chess pieces were needed for Infinity War. A faithful Jack Kirby The Eternals would be a Godzilla-size game-changer for subsequent films set on Earth.

$5 may not seem like much to you, but it is about all the free cash I have and can guarantee coughing up if wrong... so, $5.

That's a 2017 film still. She WILL be 4 years older in 2021.
Same age as Spider-Man, though? I guess it's not as weird if they're both adults but again, she'd be the same age as him and his fellow classmates. And what about Johnny? He has to be Peter's age too. An actress who is 26(-32 imo) NOW, being introduced the MCU before the actual F4 film would work really well.

 Yeah, I definitely like the sound of that now that you've pointed out it will be the 60th. And with the way things are going, they would certainly have time to put together an FF film to be released in three years if they want to.

But I guess I'm a little reluctant to believe it, because it would seem too good to be true. And while people like us recognize the historic place of FF, they have been completely irrelevant lately. I can imagine them making a big deal of the 60th... and releasing Dr. Strange III as part of that celebration.

I absolutely LOVE the idea, but I'm afraid Marvel studios may not share my enthusiasm.

As for the talks, yeah, ever since the rumors of the buyout first surfaced, I've suspected that, after Fant4stic failed so miserably, Fox and Marvel may have started serious talks about FF rights, X-Men TV rights etc. and that might have turned into something much bigger.

… With Fant4stics big losses possibly being a wake-up call to Murdoch regarding the unpredictable nature of film and a signal that maybe there are better, simpler ways to make money than constantly chasing the next big blockbuster.

When the full history of this is told, maybe we'll have Josh Trank and Simon Kinberg to thank for a $71 billion Disney acquisition. :funny:

Same age as Spider-Man, though? I guess it's not as weird if they're both adults but again, she'd be the same age as him and his fellow classmates.

Tom Holland will be a 26-year-old man playing an 18-year-old high school senior in 2021. That's just how casting works. It doesn't mean every adult in the universe has to be over 30 to match him. Just accept that she's 25 and her brother is 18. I'd even call out the character as 23, because an age gap of more than 5 years between full siblings is rare and they don't have a middle sibling.

Fantastic 4 would also be a family film, so you should give Disney kids young actors to relate to, in hopes of being more popular than Ant-Man where everyone in the superhero family was 37+ except Scott's little girl. Older actors, science-based powers, Quantum Realm = Ant-Man retread.

Well that's what people have thought about other actors before. Often though, comedy actors are able to do well in dramatic roles. Also, someone like Chris Pratt got into shape for Starlord. He was rather cuddly before.

I don't know her, but she looks more suitable than Peyton List and older there in that photo. I have to see her acting first though. Peyton List is really teenybopperish and seems better as someone like Gwen Stacy.

Back when they did GOTG, they needed to take a risk and try to build something out of nothing because they were quickly running out of well-known characters.

But they're about to get a whole bunch of well-known characters dumped in their laps.

It would seem foolish to put X-Men or FF films off in favor of Eternals not only because Eternals would be harder to market and force them to catch lightning in a bottle for a second time, but the MCU needs the X-Men and FF to fill in the missing puzzle pieces. The Eternals aren't as critical in defining the Marvel universe.

This is the problem of Grandma Aunt May all over again

to the overall history, as it evolved in print? Yes, the Eternals are important. But, we all know the golden rule, and in this case, yeah, the Eternals might fade away as they cash in on the characters that are money, the Mutants.

But...

This is Marvel, and I think they have a plan to embrace it all in the secret vaults of Fiege's mind.

There's always a risk of having to catch lightning in a bottle every time. OTOH, some fans interpret Feige's statements as his plans being set in stone. shrugs
I think the smartest play is to introduce Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters with a first class of X-Men in 2022, replacing Spider-Man as the young heroes after he leaves high school. That gives Disney rather than Sony a Homecoming-like series without feeling redundant.

So... what about them Disney buying Fox news? Any new news?

Because those guys double up so well as character actors.
Rogen's among the last batch of comedians to ask to attempt a Brooklyn/Bronx bravado.
