Spidey appeared in an MCU flick within 15 months of the Sony deal being signed, so the 8 year gap is absolutely ridiculous. I expect to a see former Fox character or two in an Avengers 4 post credit scene.
Though in that case they had to rush that out since Spidey is still owned by Sony. When the Fox deal goes through, and Marvel/Disney gets access to those characters Marvel will fully own both X-Men and Fantastic Four so they could take as much time as they need to on those properties. Though I do agree it won’t take that long for the Fox characters to appear at all.

I think, reading between the lines of recent statements by Feige, 2022-2023 is a pretty realistic window. He has emphasized that their current focus is on films already in the works, but there's nothing officially in the works beyond GOTG 3.

I figure we'll see a few other films that haven't been officially announced in 2020 and 2021, but beyond that, they should have quite a bit of freedom to start planning FF and/or X-Men films for that 2022-2023 window.

If Feige expects it to be beyond that, I think he would have said something different like: "We already have the next 5-6 years planned out, so even after we get the rights, it's going to be many years before we start working with the new characters."

I think he has been making it fairly clear that he is ready and anxious to hit the ground running as soon as he has the green-light.

Wouldn't be surprised if in the Avengers 4 stinger we see Galactus or get a news blip about 4 astronauts going into space.

Disney/Feige will probably call it a "reshoot" and film that stuff so fast once this deal is finalized.

Its not a big blow at all. Feige will find a good director and he will complete the trilogy. If they had lost Feige that would be a Blow. Its gunn's fault he was fired. He kicked a hornets nest and he didn't watch his six while doing it. Disney and Marvel are not to blame

You're confusing whether he deserved to go with whether it's a blow or not. Whether it's a blow is only related to if any talent is being lost. If someone like Scott Buck gets fired undeservedly (for something outside work I mean), it's no blow because he has no talent so the MCU loses nothing even though the firing would be unjust. If RDJ, Cumberbatch, Evans, Hemsworth, Larson and Boseman all get deservedly fired, it's a blow even though they deserved to go.

Yes losing Feige would be a much bigger killer blow than any other individual person but I didn't say losing Gunn would be the knockout blow that losing Feige would be.

I'm not onfusing anything. it will be a blow if Vol 3 ails and it's a lesser movie than Vol 2. Then i will admit that it was a blow. Let's wait who gets the gig first.

Okay, so I watched a Screen Junkies video where they speculated when the Fox-held properties would appear in the MCU. The guy they inexplicably call Billy Business said he thought it would take 8 years for that to happen. 2025 was his guess.

I think that's ludicrous. It will take at least 3-4 years to get an FF/X-Men franchise up and running, but the characters will appear in other films before then, imo. Feige isn't about to let those heroes lie fallow for so long. That would be potential wasted.

So after the vote Friday, is there a chance we could get a new press release and statements from Iger about how he plans to incorporate the Fox IPs into the Disney brand?

Maybe we'll get a tidbit on the Marvel properties

Very sad that the late & great Jon Schnepp will never be able to finally see a good Fantastic Four film considering how big of a fan he was of the property. :csad:

But by that logic nothing would ever be a blow at the time it happened lol. Whoever went, we could just wait and see who gets their gig next. RDJ leaves after Iron Man - no prob, just wait and see who fills his shoes and it can't be considered a bad thing until IM2 comes out and the new guy sucks (and if he's fine then all good). It's ok to be confused sometimes. ;)

Yeah, 8 years is too long.

My point exactly. It's a blow if the product that comes is lesser. There is no guarantee that Vol 3 will be bad. If it is then the whole situation was for the worse. But maybe it is for the best. IT'NOT a blow. It' a question mark.

"I'm here to talk to you about the X-Men initiative."

If you follow that line of thinking, there's also no guarantee the vol 3 wouldn't have been worse than vol 2, so, we'll never know whether it was a blow or not??

I would just say that losing a talented person is a blow. Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don't, but you can never really compare reality to what "would" have been. Unless you are writing a comic book.....:cwink:

No, it's not. And i won't call it that until i see Vol 3.

I don't who that guy is, but he needs to stop gargling the bong water.

I think anything from Iger will be general, like the statements when the deal was first announced.

I also wouldn't expect anything until the actual closing (though hopefully we'll get a some announcement on the closing-date soon after the vote).

Then after everything is all closed, I'd be surprised if they announce anything via a press release. I would expect something at a Comic-Con (though maybe not the big one depending on timing) or D-23.

My best guess is they'll do something next summer and announce a good chunk of the next five-year schedule.

Though maybe Feige will drop little hints prior to that.

Iger will undoubtedly be asked about next steps and where everything is and an ETA on closing date on August 7th.

The perfect song for today's part of this long wait to end the drama for our Mutants and Beloved Four...

blast my evil dying memory... that guy who did the song about "I Believe" from Lost Boys... that's the song...

"Through the pain, through the tears... "

OK. So if you like vol 3 it's not a loss and if you don't, it is.

I think vol 3 was going to be worse anyway so, by some weird form of logic, losing Gunn isn't a loss.....LOL....if I think it's worse, I think it was going to be worse anyway and if it's better, it's a plus and a win to lose a talented director. :o

Let me rethink that.....it's a loss losing a talented person.....

EDIT: I really thought I was on the Gunn fired thread. I was on it just before going here. Sorry guys and gals.
