The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 23

Spider-Man 1 didn't age well, and the Green Goblin mask and suit are just too goofy & campy. SM:HC, on the other hand, got Vulture which is brilliant in terms of design and execution. That's why it has a leg up on SM1 for me.

Goofy effects only bother me if they're in a bad movie. Im not bothered by E.T. obviously being a puppet. Most practical effects from 80s/90s movies didnt age well and look a bit cheesy/lame today.
SM1 and 2 (along with TDK), for me, remain a gold standard when it comes to superhero movies.

Better yet, they could drop the name "Defenders" for that particular team-up when Disney cuts ties with Netflix and give us Doctor Strange, Hulk, the Silver Surfer and Valkyrie together.

Don't forget Namor when Disney gets the rights back from Universal. :cwink:

Universal owns the Sub-Mariner?

Universal owns the distribution rights of Sub-Mariner and the Hulk, which is why after TIH Marvel decided to only put Hulk in other superhero's movies so they won't have to pay Universal (due to this loophole).

That's disappointing. I had thought he was a FF character so he'd belong to FOX, but doing some research right now and learning he's around since the 30's. So that makes sense. Thanks!

My understanding is that its not as clear cut as "Universal owns the rights to Namor", and that his rights are tangled up by multiple parties owning a piece of him, and that Disney would have to do a lot of deal making and or a bunch of legal maneuvering to get Namor back for Marvel.

One day everything will be back..I hope.

I hope so. She hulk is the crown Jewell for me. I know we will finally see the marvel u when she appears

There's must be something more to Namor, otherwise he would've been at least guest starring in other movies like Hulk. Yet they act as if they can't use him at all.

Maybe theres a fine print where Universal gets a % of any movie hes in and Disney dont want to share. Ruffalo has been very vocal about Universal being difficult to work with and how Feige had to basically cheat and spread out Hulks story across multiple avenger movies rather than doing a standalone trilogy.

I hope Marvel can find a way to give Hulk at least another solo movie before they retire him.

since Sony has no other successful franchises at the moment except for Spidey and arguably Jumanji, I could see Disney not offering money for the Spidey rights but instead some of the franchises purchased in the Fox deal, that don't fit their family friendly image

It would feel like we are really getting into it at that point. I’d love to see a She-Hulk solo do well in future if everything could somehow come together for it to be possible.

Is She-Hulk tied up with the Universal Hulk rights? I'd love a She-Hulk movie. I think it could do really well. Better than a solo Hulk film.

I assume all the Hulk characters (Abomination, Doc Samson, Leader etc.) are all tied up with the Hulk.

Ragnarok was close to being a Hulk movie, but without those characters, Hulk is always going to feel off.

DigificWriter seems to have shown up on cbm, still banging that drum for Constantin Film. Nobody understands that Disney won't ever own the rights to the FF and might even be sued for producing bad FF movies just to spite poor old Constantin. :loco: Between him and the guys who claim that Deadpool's rights are up in the air, IQs are dropping by ten points a minute on that site. :cmad:

:hehe: What is he posting?

Doesn't surprise me. If only he were here to still entertain us.

Here's what the person wrote, spoiler tagged for gag-worthiness:

For the millionth time FOX DOESN'T OWN THE F4 RIGHTS. There is no guarantee that the actual owner, Constantin Film, will want to continue* having Disney/Fox make films for them, nor is there is any guarantee that Disney will be willing to pay Constantin for the "privilege" of accessing the F4 IP.

*Legally Disney is in a position of conflict of interest regarding the F4 contract. It can be shown they could benefit long term from bad F4** releases. Constantin could EASILY sever the contract on that circumstance even if they don't have another out.

**bad ones would almost certainly be non MCU.

The stupidest part is where he says that Disney could release bad FF films for its own benefit. As if Constantin and Fox haven't released 3 horrible FFINO movies (4 if you count the Corman abomination). People seem to buy what he's selling, though. Go figure.

:funny:

Who are buying into it? FFINO defenders? Foxmen?

Man, Bob Iger is going have egg on his face! His company releases multiple statements welcoming the FF into the fold. But the rights were NEVER Fox's to sell! The fool forgot to consider CONSTANTIN!

Try reading the contracts next time, Bobby!

I thought mcu spiderman was getting a trilogy? Or was supposed to show up in 6 films.

The Venom movie looks like it was made cheaply. Probably around Deadpool 1's budget. If it does 300-400M WW I think that'd be quite good.

The only way Venom was around Deadpool 1's budget is if Venom only appears on the screen for about 2 minutes. I guess that's possible.
