When was Ukraine ever in the mix? How are we suddenly hearing about this now? Who else is involved whom we don't know about?

Hey @Zyraquis in Cade Brazil press release today they mentioned they cooperated with both Mexico and Chile since they shared similar concerns about cable sports, and I think approval might be on the way from both of them immediately because of the cooperation.
The Disney / Fox operation was notified in 25 jurisdictions and culminated in collaboration between antitrust authorities from around the world. In Latin America, the close dialogue between agencies in Brazil, Mexico and Chile resulted in a coordinated solution to the case.

The only way I can see Disney buying SM rights from Sony without acquiring the company is:

- PS5 struggles and loses a lot of money like the PS3
- Sony gets hacked again
- Sony wants to buy one or more of the following (Endemol, Fox Sports Latin America, RSNs, etc)
- Sony has to make some divestments in India due to its bid for Zee Entertainment and Disney is interested in selling

Other than that I'm having a hard time seeing a deal taking place.

Wasnt it rumored Sony was one of the third parties interested in the Latin America networks or at least they were asked if they were interested?

I thought Sony were interested in Endemol.

I remember that the Disney-Fox deal could potentially give Disney assets that could get all the Marvel rights back. Whether they'll use them in that way is another matter.

I highly doubt they'd go about it like that. Right there you'd be limiting stories that flash back to Apocalypse in ancient Egypt or Selene in pre-historic times. Also, you couldn't have an old Wolverine born in the 1800s, or Mystique for that matter. That's because the snap affected living beings in present time.

True.

Man now that this acquisition is coming to fruition I’m just really wondering how all of a sudden mutants are just going to be a thing. Not complaining at all, but it just really fascinates me.

I still think its sad how Sony basically gets to leech of Feige and his teams work and gets to use the Marvel Studios brand but Marvel makes no money from the standalone movies. At least Marvel gets 100% of the team up movies that feature spider-man. Sony gets nothing of Civil War, Infinity War and End Game.

likewise
I'm pretty confident whatever they do will be good.
Feige is a fan like us, he knows the themes that matter and hires people that will make sure those details are looked after.

Sony wants to make more content for Spider-Verse. Sony can't make a TV show without Disney's okay. Even If Marvel can't buy the rights back, maybe this can open the door to negotiations that loosen their grip on the license? Maybe Marvel gets a character package from Sony and some of their spinoffs are cancelled so the characters in question can be integrated into the MCU. Norman Osborn, Kraven and Black Cat for example

Loosen the grip, yes. And I mentioned this exact scenario a few days back.

The scenario above is the way that I see Marvel completely getting the license back in the foreseeable future.

Hopefully they work something out later this year after Far From Home to keep MCU Spider-Man going past a trilogy.

I still think the Spider-Man titles are somewhat meta, describing the situation between Disney and Sony.

With the impending Brazil approval yesterday, I was sure I remembered a mention by someone here of another country definitely not on our list. After quite a bit of searching, I came across a post from @Zyraquis (linked below) that included Ukraine with a couple of other countries new (I think) to our discussion.

Unless the other countries have approved discreetly, is it possible we have a longer haul ahead of us than we're hoping?

I think most of us agreed that the list is probably out of date or not accurate. All the trades are hinting at March 8th is the closing date. So don't worry about it :)

The path to victory is clear then. It's only a matter of time

If ‘Far From Home’ makes a billion dollars or very close to it then I definitely can see the deal being renewed/extended for a third film and possibly more crossover films pass Endgame —be it another Avengers film or perhaps a Secret Wars film. I think Far From Home will make a lot of money because I think many people will be curious to see the fallout from Endgame since that movie will have very significant repercussions for the MCU that will change it forever and I think people will want a palate cleanser after they experience the very heavy film that Endgame looks to be. Spider-Man will inject the MCU will some much needed levity and hope after the(presumably) bittersweet ending Endgame will likely have.

Maybe Disney cancelled that Dark Phoenix trailer now that the deal is basically done lol.

This trailer better have some money shots at the very least.

I wanna see what that mediocre hack Kinberg has up his sleeve before he’s gone from this franchise.

Oh dear...

In essence, Kinberg has an ego. He's trying to prove to himself that he CAN make a good Dark Phoenix movie hence him remaking TLS. Complete with the whole "Charled locked away Jean's true potential" plot device he created for the preceding adaption

Professor X is going to be transplanted into a new body at the end of Dark Phoenix just like in the Last Stand. This will now signal his being transplanted into the MCU.

It’s the same movie. They just added a scene in space to attempt to add comic realness.

I really hope it gets moved to Hulu.

It’s a little funny. The original comics Dark Phoenix saga actually does have Wolverine in it while this new adapation(as far as we know) does not. If I’m not mistaken, this will be the very first X-Film that doesn’t have Wolvie in it, correct?

Dark Phoenix doesn’t work until you’ve properly established the X-Men in three films. It never works as your film succeeding the previous film that just introduce those characters.

If hes remaking It I hope Hugh Jackman and Famke Janssen have cameos somewhere.
