The world is totally invested in this Avengers saga and we gotta know what happens next. It’ll make 2 billion again easily.

I’ll never forget how packed it was for Infinity War the first night. Thought i was at a damn concert.

With the impending Brazil approval yesterday, I was sure I remembered a mention by someone here of another country definitely not on our list. After quite a bit of searching, I came across a post from @Zyraquis (linked below) that included Ukraine with a couple of other countries new (I think) to our discussion.

Unless the other countries have approved discreetly, is it possible we have a longer haul ahead of us than we're hoping?

I think that list was compiled based a lot on the submission of DIS lawyers in Brazil (link below p16, won't recommend opening it since it's a large file and link is not private) I exact the text of the table there. Ukraine was indeed one of the market back at that time pending notification and approval. That said, many regulators aren't that transparent so approval may have occurred but not announced, and some jurisdictions have that silence = approved. Some only disclose approvals in batches eg. quarterly, monthly etc. retroactively, if they disclose at all.

So the database in my company could be incomplete and not up to date depending on what approval is already publicly announced (we can't put rumor into our database).

The only party that has the clearest picture is DIS itself and it's up to the company to announce progress, if it chooses to do so. Most companies only update when all conditions are satisfied so I think that will be the case here.

Bottom line is that this will go through just a matter of when. I can't see any other market where DIS and FOX have no or little TV presence (perhaps like Ukraine, which I doubt it would allow US companies to have any stronghold in the TV broadcast market at all, or Japan, where the local broadcasters are so strong and so culturally peculiar, will make foreign ones difficult to dominate) will have any problem at all if film business is the reason for review. The only real hurdles left are Mexico and Chile that haven't publicly announced approval, and if they are working together that's great so that means that they could come soon as well but I would bear in mind that each country will have their markets and politicians have their voters to look after no matter how similar the situation is so I won't pop open the champagne until I see it.

If DIS doesn't make any update by the end of next week ie. announcing all conditions precedent have been satisfied and closing is expected in a few days, then there may be some hidden hurdle or delay the press hasn't got the whiff of and DIS isn't telling. So far I haven't come across anything on IFT or FNE yet (well more like i havent had time to look, got my own deals to handle), and it's late there so there probably won't be anything until tomorrow the earliest.

Ok, I must admit that was significantly better than the first trailer and had some moments that I thought were legitimately cool(Jean crushing Magneto's helm for example). This looks like a movie I would at least consider watching as a rental.

I think the trailer was alright but man they're not even attempting to hide spoilers like...

Mystique getting killed by Jean

For those who care: Simon Kinberg confirms the blue you-know-who dies in the movie in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. So I guess it's hardly even a spoiler anymore if the director isn't even bothering to hide it any longer after it was seemingly already revealed in the trailer.

Has Kinberg also confirmed that his hope of making a sequel to this film has also died?

All I see is "X3 done right". It's clear to me Kinberg just wants to show his own vision of TLS that he couldn't make it.

Judging from the trailers alone, I feel the X3 ones had more energy than Dark Phoenix's, which looks completely dull and flat. Many scenes look basically the same with small differences in characters and setting.

Exactly.

I think one of the major differences, as bad as TLS, is that we were more emotionally invested in those characters. Especially Famke's version of Jean.

At least I think so.

Will we see de-aged versions of Charles and Erik like in the beginning of X3?

Oh, I forgot. The two of them look exactly the same since the 60s, minus Charles's bald head (which he got from trying on Magneto's helmet after he left superglue in it). :o

It is curious they don't even make any attempt to age them up. Give Fassbender grey/white hair, throw in some wrinkles. Same tricks used to age Jackman for Logan would at least make them look a bit like it's been 30 friggin years since they turned up.

Secondary mutation!

It doesn't look godawful and I'll probably watch it because I'll have AMC pass, but I'm simply not that interested knowing MCU XMen are coming. Iger should take the hit and dump this on Hulu at best.

It doesn't look great or terrible to me. Just sort of boring and familiar.

Not knowing anything else, I'd probably just wait for it on video because the whole X-Men shtick is getting old and this doesn't seem to do anything to change that.

Add into that what I know about Simon Kinberg, the merger etc. and it just makes me less interested.

Who does Kinberg need to have formal talks with?

The audacity.

"I really felt on this one I couldn’t imagine where else to go with these characters after what they’ve gone through in this movie."

This guy really has no idea about actual X-MEN stories
