When was Ukraine ever in the mix? How are we suddenly hearing about this now? Who else is involved whom we don't know about?
The Disney / Fox operation was notified in 25 jurisdictions and culminated in collaboration between antitrust authorities from around the world. In Latin America, the close dialogue between agencies in Brazil, Mexico and Chile resulted in a coordinated solution to the case.
The only way I can see Disney buying SM rights from Sony without acquiring the company is:
- PS5 struggles and loses a lot of money like the PS3
- Sony gets hacked again
- Sony wants to buy one or more of the following (Endemol, Fox Sports Latin America, RSNs, etc)
- Sony has to make some divestments in India due to its bid for Zee Entertainment and Disney is interested in selling
Other than that I'm having a hard time seeing a deal taking place.

I highly doubt they'd go about it like that. Right there you'd be limiting stories that flash back to Apocalypse in ancient Egypt or Selene in pre-historic times. Also, you couldn't have an old Wolverine born in the 1800s, or Mystique for that matter. That's because the snap affected living beings in present time.
likewiseTrue.
Man now that this acquisition is coming to fruition I’m just really wondering how all of a sudden mutants are just going to be a thing. Not complaining at all, but it just really fascinates me.
Sony wants to make more content for Spider-Verse. Sony can't make a TV show without Disney's okay. Even If Marvel can't buy the rights back, maybe this can open the door to negotiations that loosen their grip on the license? Maybe Marvel gets a character package from Sony and some of their spinoffs are cancelled so the characters in question can be integrated into the MCU. With the impending Brazil approval yesterday, I was sure I remembered a mention by someone here of another country definitely not on our list. After quite a bit of searching, I came across a post from @Zyraquis (linked below) that included Ukraine with a couple of other countries new (I think) to our discussion.
Unless the other countries have approved discreetly, is it possible we have a longer haul ahead of us than we're hoping?

The path to victory is clear then. It's only a matter of timeLoosen the grip, yes. And I mentioned this exact scenario a few days back.
The scenario above is the way that I see Marvel completely getting the license back in the foreseeable future.
In essence, Kinberg has an ego. He's trying to prove to himself that he CAN make a good Dark Phoenix movie hence him remaking TLS. Complete with the whole "Charled locked away Jean's true potential" plot device he created for the preceding adaptionOh dear...
