So I guess 20th Century Fox will be Touchstone 2.0?

I remember when people were crying about "Disney won't make gritty R rated films!!!111!!!" or "Adult Fox films are dead!!!". When others were saying from the beginning that it makes sense to use the Fox brand for those type of films and no way were Disney not going to do it. They are a business and it was silly to think that they would pass up viable franchises because they were rated R, especially when they get a brand new subsidiary to put those type films under.

This also gives more faith in the Deadpool sequels still being R rated.

Disney-Fox Film Structure Coming Next: Alan Horn Atop Divisions, Streaming Big Priority

- Alan Horn will continue to lead The Walt Disney Studios as chairman

- Current Fox chairman Stacey Snider will leave after the merger closes

- Current Fox Vice Chairman Emma Watts will oversee the 20th Century Fox label under Disney which the article describes as a slate of adult movies

- Fox 2000 & Fox Searchlight will remain intact with their current leadership

- Streaming will be a big focus

- No mention of new leadership for Blue Sky Studios at the moment

- Official announcement expected later this week
Awesome news, confirming what I expected.

They ain't gonna rename the Fox studios?

Makes perfect sense to keep the studios intact but I'd have thought a rebrand might be in order?

It would be a great birthday present to have everything over in November.

November 1st is the date speculated when Disney will complete its restructure of New Disney and New Fox. So by then theyll know who is staying who is going. And basically be all set to go pending China approval.

Please Disney, buy out Sony, so we don't have to deal with their Spider Man spinoff movies :)

DOJ would never approve it.

sadly this is true. it would give disney more than 45% of the total box office. Buying Fox gives them 40% and is already raising eyebrows. At 45% the DOJ would have to step in as one entity not allowed to own more than 50% market share. They couldnt stop Disney buying just the spiderman rights tho. if Sony ever wanted to sell that would be fine but buying Sony would be a no no.

There’s a precedent for two different studios using two seperate versions of the same character they both have access to in their respective cinematic universes — look no further than the “the tale of Quicksilvers” where both Fox and Marvel could use Quicksilver if they followed specific conditions(MCU Quicksilver couldn’t be related to Magneto and be a Mutant while Fox Quicksilver couldn’t be an Avenger) so it wouldn’t be unheard of to have two cinematic versions of the same superhero existing concurrently with each other. If the comics have have two different versions of the same hero exist(i.e Ultimates Spider-Man had existed alongside 616 Spider-Man at one point in time) then why not try the same for the movies?

I usually never second guess what Marvel does but I think the only major mistake they made was not signing Michael Keaton up as Norman Osborn.

Like that would’ve been perfection.

There’s always Bryan Cranston who can play MCU Norman Osborn.

it annoys me they havent cast him yet in the MCU hopefully theyre waiting for the right role. or its a chadwick boseman situation and hes already been cast and we just dont know it yet.

Maybe he'll be Uncle Ben, who died when the robber broke into his meth lab.
