Nice. It would be amazing if Marvel ever took up that option. If it's in the contract then they've at least thought about it enough to cover their bases.

Agreed. Clearly they thought of the possibility of eventual crossover potential and have their bases covered. Why hire a new Daredevil when you have one already under contract that people like? I am far less bothered by the fact the TV characters have not been mentioned in the films than clearly many on here are, but I also see really no reason to "reboot" any of these characters. You can easily just proceed with them with the shows and such as existing backstory. You also have the bonus if you do that of me not watching the same core story again, and much like Black Panther or Spider-Man, you can just move forward with them. But even if this never comes to pass, I can live with our existing Daredevil show being MCU without ever seeing him and Spider-Man tag team. This doesn't bother me like it seems to others.

We are have gotten a great Daredevil on Netflix that more than does the character justice. If they can keep that and still have him interact with Spider-Man than great, but getting Daredevil himself right is far more important than some crossovers and scrapping the fantastic version we already have comes with a ton of risk that the newer version won't be anywhere near as good.

So for me, yeah, I hope they stay the course.

100% agreed

Even in the cases of some characters who may improve like Danny, I'd rather they just leave the show as backstory. I don't want to see another show/movie where we see Danny come back from Kun Lun after being written off as dead, needs to figure out who killed his parents, etc. It would be boring to watch all that again. Just use the existing version and recast him if you feel you must. You can easily just build on the backstory of Kun Lun and such with the existing story where it left off if you so choose.

It's not so much that folks are bothered by the lack of a Spidey-DD team-up as we are willing to acknowledge that the Netflix Defenders and the cinematic MCU exist in completely different fictional realities (Oxymoron Alert!) and the characters in these two distinct universes will never co-exist. There are stronger ties between the Indiana Jones cinematic universe, which was actually referenced in CA:TFA, and the MCU than there are with the MCU and the Netflix shows. I remember reading the"two way" contracts covering TV and film were pushed heavily by Ike and was a sore spot for Feige in negotiating with talent. They likely became moot after Marvel Studios split with Marvel Entertainment.

I personally wouldn't mind if Feige put the Netflix characters in the movies. But he is a notorious micro-manager, which is great for running a cinematic universe but not so great for adding someone else's work to the mix. I think there's an equal chance of the Singer-verse merging with the MCU as there is the Netflix Defenders appearing in Avengers 5.

The Defenders have a much better chance at being in Avengers 5 than the Singer X-Men. Though I would agree they won't be in it either. The Singer X-Men are conclusively done when this sale completes. The Defenders may be done at Netflix, or some shows may still be going. We still don't know. But I don't see them being rebooted by Feige, either. Again, I know I am beating a dead horse, but if he had plans for those characters, they would have been movies day 1. We know the X-Men will be rebooted. How the relationship between Marvel Studios and Marvel TV will evolve is anyone's guess. But at worst, I see the shows being left alone as they are now where they mention movie stuff but don't get referenced in movies (which I am again fine with) or maybe we will finally see TV guys in movies. Who knows. But I don't see us having 2 Daredevils or anything. Or another alternative, we get a recast Daredevil and co, but they're already established and they will keep the shows as loose backstory that we never see (similar to Ruffallo with TIH). That would be the only 3rd thing I could see happening.

As for the part you mention about the contracts being an Ike idea that Feige was mad about, we don't know really. We know Ike and Feige had disagreements on the direction of the company and that it got fractured. Whether the Defenders having movies in their contracts is one such point of that we simply don't know.

100% agreed. Even if they do reboot or recast, I have no interest in seeing the same basic plot again. That killed interest in TASM before it even got started filming.

It is already frustrating that we won't see where Luke Cage is going since Season 2 ended in a fascinating spot for going forward.

Yeah, I am more upset about that than them not following up on where IF left off. LC had a very interesting 3rd season to move forward with :csad:

It was a mistake to dump Iron Fist on the television side with Loeb. Iron Fist has such a rich lore that would’ve brought something really unique to the MCU. It pains me that we’ll never see the character done on big screen(at least not until the MCU is completely rebooted).

The MCU will never be completely rebooted and if anybody will get a soft-reboot, it's Irom Fist. Both Jones and Colter were miscast in their roles imo

I would prefer an ongoing MCU (film) continuity long term with no reboot. Iron Fist should be done totally differently for film too.

For those that don't frequent the other forums, Stan the Man Lee has left us :csad:

Boy this sucks.

I almost feel like I’ve lost a father..

I know it’s kind of weird to say that but I’m tearing up right now for a guy I never met.

It’s gonna be strange living in a world without Stan Lee.

Celeb deaths rarely get to me. But, as I stated in another Stan Lee thread, there is no other celeb who has had as profound an impact on my life than Stan Lee. I couldn't even tell you when I started reading comics. As far back as I can remember, Spider-Man, Captain America, the FF, the Avengers, etc. Basically Marvel has been in my life. I learned so much from reading from reading them and so much of my core was partly shaped by reading about these costumed adventurers. They def had a huge impact on my life. So this is one of the few celeb deaths that hurts.

Thanks for everything, Stan Lee.

It seems like quite a strange place to stop.

It is an ending at least. If Luke's story ends here, it is a complete journey. There have been many shows that ended on cliffhangers or don't resolve anything.

But it is disappointing because there was so much more they could have told from this scenario and it would have been completely different for a superhero story.

True, I'm just very curious what the intended direction would have been from this point. Although I guess there was some conflict over that from what we heard.
