Of course they'll keep making Deadpool movie. The question is, will they be set in the MCU? Fingers crossed that they won't.

Doctor Strange is Feige's favorite hero. Have you seen the movie? Not exactly one of Marvel's best efforts.

Disagree wholeheartedly. It's my favorite MCU origin movie.

Yeah that would actually be a nifty explanation for the sudden appearance of mutants. A movie where you find out the origin and then you flash forward to present day at the Xavier School.

Sidebar, but I hope we get a Nate Grey movie somewhere down the line. That whole Summers family drama with Cykes, Jean, Cable and all of them would be good.

Jean Grey, Nate Grey. Only need 48 more shades.

But...it's Feige's MJ!!! Lord Feige makes no mistakes with any characters :o

Sorry man, but I just had to say that given past conversation on the Netflix guys :oldrazz:
I'd like to believe Sony is the reason because otherwise, if somebody truly thought Mary Jane was played out becuz of the Raimi version then it demonstrates a lack of understanding of the character. Feige isn't known for this

Sony at the end of the day has to sign off on everything, but I don't see any evidence that they forced very much on Marvel when they were making Homecoming, so I operate under the assumption that it was a Marvel decision, whether it be Feige or Watts that came up with it first.

I suspect Donner and Kinberg will have minimal creative say when Marvel starts making X-Men films.

Kinberg will march into Feige's office with a script that's a sequel to Dark Phoenix that he's been working on all this time.

This will be the reaction:

MCU Fantastic Four or X-Men is not expected until after 2021 but when will they get pushed in merchandise, games and theme parks?

I think it'll still be separate in a way, but not completely.
Doctor Strange reviews would disagree with you. I think it did what it set out to do for an origin story and I really enjoyed it

It probably wasn't Feige. Maybe Jon Watts or one of the writers

Again, if that was the case then how would you explain Marvel still being able to re-use Flash and Betty? In Flash’s case, there’s an even better reason to omit him from the films considering he’s been in two iterations of the franchise but they still used them in the MCU despite that.

Mary Jane by comparison hasn’t been seen or done in over ten years and they still eschewed use of the character in favor of creating an original stand-in that will take her place.

So we may end up with an Avi Arad/Matt Tolmach situation. Both executive producers on Homecoming but zero creative control.

Orrrr Disney will just buy their contract out as the article suggests

It's not my opinion, it's the general consensus on the movie.

The average rating on RT is 7.3/6.7

I said "Not one of Marvel's best efforts", not that it was bad. Are we seriously going to act like the movie was universally beloved

It was indeed one of the writers who initiated the idea but it’s kind of a moot point since Feige could’ve easily vetoed the idea if he wasn’t on board. The fact he allowed this creative decision to happen on his watch shows he was all for the change.

His first suggestion for the MCU’s first X-Men film will be... Dark Phoenix 3.

Both Flash and Betty were drastically different from their comic book interpretations. Betty had no reason to be, really. This suggests to me that Feige WANTED to use these classic characters but had to work around the parameters that Sony had established for them.

Right, when Homecoming came out - MJ had been absent for a decade. And the one we got was poorly done. This is why the decision made no sense and probably wasn't Feige's choice. Someone who did not understand who Mary Jane is from the comics probably made this decision not Feige

Exactly. If anything it’s out of respect in Donner’s case since she opened the door for Feige to get his Infinity Stones.

The student is now the master.

Welp, I knew it. Feige probably didnt care enough to say no but I take comfort in knowing he wasn't the one who came up with the idea

I know how most feel about Kinberg, and a lot of it is warranted. But, the guy it well connected and seems to be well liked in Hollywood. How else would he have been able to get that directing gig despite all his faults? Lol. I'm not surprised he might retain some kind of EP credit. I don't think for a second that he'll have any creative input, but I also don't think they'll completely ice him out.

It will work exactly like they will make money to have their names on it, but have zero power.

Right, but he still said okay to it.

I'm over the whole MCU MJ thing. It's dumb and sucks but I guess there was a reason for an original character and he nickname is whatever. We know for a fact this girl isn't Mary Jane or meant to be and so it's not that bad compared to a butchered established character . This character is her own and I doubt she'll constantly be exclusive called MJ

You can only imagine how little I care about the general consenus. But just for the sake of argument however, if you go to the rate Doctor Strange thread in here, you will see no shortage of those who rated it in the 8, 9 and 10 range. I'm hardly alone in my opinion that it was better than a middling effort.
