The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 4

Simon Kinberg needs, in the following order:

1. Punched in the face
2. Strapped to a chair and forced to rewatch Fant4stic for 1 month straight - Clockwork Orange style
3. Punched in the face
4. Fired
5. Punched in the face

I really hope Feige can rescue the First Family and hire someone like a Brad Bird (The Incredibles) to finally do justice to Marvel's The Fantastic Four.

I think we can put the Marvel already having the rights back rumor to rest now

The thing is, why then did Disney - DISNEY! - hand over TV rights to FOX? I suppose Legion and Hellfire may throw off a few shekles, but we're talking about a company that just closed down its in-house gaming studio because while it was making money, it wasn't making ENOUGH money. Disney is all about franchises, and I can't see the Mouse squandering the opportunity to expand the wildly successful MCU in exchange for a couple of bucks.

I am convinced that Disney would not have expanded FOX's rights to the X-Men character family without getting character rights in exchange. And the ramblings of a clearly delusional hack won't sway my opinion.

Fox desperately needs to be rid of this clown.

Yeah, it makes no sense whatsoever. And Kimberg should be fired ASAP.

One would think that this tactic would turn off more moviegoers who are reluctant about this upcoming X-men film (thanks to the mix reviews) than bring them on board.

Kinberg is not a very smart man. Answering questions about the status of Gambit would've made more sense.

I wouldn't go that far. Common sense tells us there's zero chance Fox will make a sequel or that any of the actors would come back.

So we know Kinberg, for whatever reason, is completely talking out of his ass.

We can't make any assumptions about reality based on comments that have no basis in reality.

I've thought little of this Kinberg hack ever since I saw Mr & Mrs Smith. I thought it was not only a badly written movie with stupid dialogue, but worst of all, it was a tremendous bore.
But I gave him a chance when I heard of his involvement with The Last Stand, or as I like to call it The Crap Stand.
Needless to say, not only did that reinforce what I thought of him from his previous movie, it cemented that notion firmly.
But now, now he's really pissing me off. I'm starting to hate his guts :argh:

Can anyone think of a film that was both a critical and financial flop that got a sequel?

I mean we are talking about a film that did so poorly that it was singled out by Rupert Murdock as the reason for the company's poor financial performance.

This guy cannot be serious. Maybe he's just trying to promote it since it's going to premiere on HBO this weekend. (or did it already premiere? I saw a commercial for it a week or two ago)

Either way, I find it hard to believe he's this stupid to think they can make another one with the same cast thinking they can lighten the mood and people will accept it.

Go home Kinberg, you're drunk
It premiered on HBO last weekend.

Here's the thing about Kinberg -- he's running Star Wars Rebels.

How is it possible he can work for Fox with their Marvel properties, and Disney for their Star Wars properties, without Disney bosses pressuring him to just shut up about Fantastic Four?

Isn't there some conflict of interest there?

Iger and Horn allow their studio heads (Kennedy, Feige, Lasseter, Catmull) an awful lot of autonomy. Some of this created a problem with the licensing of characters for Disney Infinity. If Kathleen Kennedy decides she wants to work with that hack Kinberg I doubt anyone is going over her head.

Im not even worried about what this hack has to say regarding FF. That was partially his baby and he knows it sucked. He wishes he could get another chance to redeem himself. These guys have to say these things to save face when asked about it. FOX knows there are very very very few people if any clamoring for any new FF film made by them with absolutely no connection to or cooperation with Marvel.

Move along people......nothing to see here.

I think you nailed it. I think he would like a second chance to show everybody he can do it. That's not happening, so he's paying lip service to something everybody knows he'll never do. Then when it never happens, he'll claim: "I could have done it better if they had given me the chance."

Can I just say: I can't think of a single person on this planet that I have less respect for than Simon Kinberg.

And, yes, I'm fully aware these people are also on the planet:

wow. There is no way MBJ has been allowed to sign on to another superhero franchise unless FF is dead.

There are contractual things going on there.

Think Kinsberg's just spewing nonsense.

FOX: we need MBJ to keep ****ing up the Fantastic Four.

Black Panther : I don't care.
