your Honda floated like a boat???

I wish....I used to live down by the Yacht Harbor in Santa Cruz and always wanted a boat. Unfortunately, I didn't have a friend who was desperate to get rid of theirs and give me a good deal on it.

I don't think he was talking about any studio but BvS is quite possibly the closest thing to destruction porrn outside of Michael Bay. I don't know how Metropolis could be standing after MoS and BvS.

Nah, Apocalypse was an orchestra of 100% absolute pointless destruction. Literally the entire earth was being put through an electromagnetic blender. Just dumb.

I agree but BvS is not far from it. No way anyone should be standing after Doomsday morphed or whatever the F he was doing. Metropolis and Gotham should be dust afterwards.

Well, my argument isn't even about which film had more destruction. I love destruction...I absolutely love it...when there is a great reason for it.

There was absolutely zero reason for the world to be turning over on itself, other than "lets use some special effects guys". They understand they cannot make a good fight scene to save there lives, so it forces them to find other ways to up the anti in effects and they have to resort to just mindless, actors, destruction scenes that just make you want to cry.

Hurts to think that if the property had been in Marvel's hands back then, we would have had the perfect Dr Doom. :(

I'm just imagining someone of his talent and experience walking in and being confronted with the Trank/Kinberg brain-trust.

I'm imagining him sitting there with a look of complete befuddlement as Kinberg and Trank are playing dress-up and pretending to be real, grown-up film-makers in front of someone who actually knows a thing or two.

And then the thought of him standing up, saying "excuse me a moment" then walking out and never coming back has me rolling.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm just gonna throw a bombshell out there. A possibility many of you ignore. What if Fox reboots again and the movie is actually good? Not great, but good and makes decent profit. That basically kills every chance Marvel has to get it back.

We don't ignore the possibility, we just think it's the least likely scenario.

Here's some interesting trivia: Mass Mikklesen auditioned for Fant4stic but walked out: https://www.shortlist.com/entertainment/films/mads-mikkelsen-interview

Fascinating! 4stic collects yet another "L" to add to the archive of Fox's Fantastic Failures!

And with Trank's whining that his scrapped version was better and Kinberg recently hinting or fishing for the release of a "directors cut" in order to promote hype for a 4stic 2.... I like to add this as evidence overruling the request since auditions would've been privy to scripting before Simon Kinberg started really changing things from Tranks cut! Wasn't Trank handling this project like 2-3 years before Kinberg jumped on board?!

If so then let the record show that if Mikklesen went over an early script, paused, said "NOPE!" and left. Shouldn't that confirm that this film was DOA from the start?

It does make me curious about when he had his audition since he does not seem to fit with the Ultimate FF version of Doom that FFINO ended up using. Having an older Doom while the rest are younger doesn't really fit with what they went with in the film. Unless his audition was based on an earlier script which used a different kind of Doom.

He might have auditioned for Storm for all we know

Might as well worry that a meteor lands on top of Marvel Studios HQ and kills most of the brain trust. Its probably more likely.

We ignore this possibility because its so vanishingly unlikely as to be irrelevant.

Also, we know the movie went through a bunch of scripts. I wouldn't be shocked if one of the earlier ones was at least broadly more faithful. You know, one of the scripts Fox vetoed because it couldn't be done on a $20 and a week of dumpster diving.

Yep. It's unlikely they'll try again, but super unlikely they'd actually invest what it would take to make a great film and super, super, SUPER unlikely that a talented director and talented actors would sign on.

And even if they defied all the odds and made a great film, who would see it? Not me, and I'm a huge FF fan who has wanted nothing but a good FF film for nearly 50 years.

Mads has not had much luck with Marvel properties. He dodged 2 bullets with Malekith and Doom and eventually ended up playing the forgettable eye shadow man in Doc Strange.

Actually it's not that unlikely. As much as Fox has been inconsistent it has to be noted they have been more hit than miss in the past years. Yes, you still have movies like Wolverine or Apocalypse or Fan4stic but they don't miss like in the early years. So if we are going by chances there is a pretty decent chance the next Fox F4 film will be solid...

they had 2 good movies in the last couple of years. I really wouldn't call that 'more hit than miss'
