The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 8

It pains me that Fox still has the rights to cosmic characters like Silver Surfer and Galactus. They're not going to anything with them anytime soon... or at all, honestly.

Yeah. It kinda sucks when you see characters wasted or not used. I actually liked the first 2 FF theater releases (but had very little to compare them to and was just glad to see the FF on screen in a way that wasn't totally embarrassing), but what they did with Galactus was, well, stupid.

Agreed! They just don't get it! Now they are making changes to Deadpool as well. Fox just can't help themselves!

What are they doing? I really liked DP. It was very fresh and funny. I agree that you can't stand still, but I hope they don't totally frell things up on the sequel.

Isn't there a rumor going around that the next X-Men film or films will be taking place in Space? That could be bad news...

If they do, they will not be able to use Silver Surfer or Galactus or any FF characters since the FF and X-Men contracts are 2 different entities.

Miller is gone.

Well we know that, but not the character itself. That's less a change to Deadpool and more just a change of direction. Plus, they got David Leitch and he did some great work with John Wick, and with the Reese and Wernick still attached, there's a guarantee we'll get some great fight choreography and gun play with the sequel.

If anything, Miller's always got his upcoming Sonic film he can work his magic on, even if it is a Sonic film.

Miller didn't leave because of Fox. He left because of "creative differences" with Reynolds.

I still blame Fox! :argh:

They really do need a Feige though to make sure everyone is "on board" for their vision.

I enjoyed the original two films for what they were, which was dumb fun. They went all-out comic book-y in some cases, so it still surprises me that we didn't at least get a glimpse of classic Galactus. Apparently... they were saving him for a Silver Surfer solo film. I'd pay to see that.

A dispute in which Fox took sides with RR and their PR didn't mind the spreading notion that TM wanted a film that was triple the budget of the last one which TM disputed soon after which still begs the question to why he left then if the budget wasn't the issue.

What are they doing?

Judging by recent interviews from Logan's Director and Hugh Jackman it sounds like they're Nerfing the overall feel of what an Wolverine/X-men film should be with the excuse for nixing Mr. Sinister and making this film it's own universe being the desire to "Make it as real as possible" (aka cheaper and simpler).

In other words, what they couldn't do in the last Wolverine with source material, their own continuity or with VFX, they'll substitute with more slow motion pull wires and gore while hoping the majority won't be bothered by Wolverine being portrayed as a post-chemo Walter White (I'm sure being Rated R will help).

That and Gambit is still w/o a script 4 months after it was originally supposed to be released.

I'm still hopeful for DP 2, but I can't get really excited for it since Miller left. Especially the way it played out, it just rubbed me the wrong way. I hope for the best though.

This is all I want I hope Fantastic Four is giving back in a hurry they were never worth the hassle it caused X-MEN Franchise!!!

I have been informed, from sources close to the previously-mentioned Marvel creative summit from last week that, as well as return to the fore for X-Men comics with X-Men ResurrXion, we should expect a lot more from the mutants in 2017.

Specific details are scant. Marvel dialled down their X-Men exposure after a massive fallout between Marvel and Fox Studios, who own the Fantastic Four and X-Men movies rights. The Fantastic Four titles were cancelled and the X-Men titles, while still published, saw them removed from almost all licensing – games, toys, statues, posters, clothing, cartoons and the like. They weren’t used by any Marvel-generated promotional operations and were notably absent from Marvel’s promotions of their own comic book line.

Since then, Marvel’s own civil war between Marvel Studios and the rest of the company, that saw the Studios split from Marvel and report directly to Disney, has seen a bit of a ceasefire. Peace hasn’t exactly broken out, but co-operation over the new Fox X-Men TV shows like the upcoming Legion, and even cooperation over the movie Deadpool, has seen a return from the comics division to the X-Men titles.

And yes, that also means licenses, games, toys, statues, posters, T-shirts, and being acknowledged by the publisher on the front of catalogues, promotional outreaches…

…and a cartoon.

The X-Men animated series has been much missed and, although the characters have appeared in other Marvel cartoons of late, they haven’t held their own series, even as the movies have performed well in cinemas.

I understand that, later in 2017, we will get the announcement of a cartoon as well.

And, yes, as part of Marvel’s meat-and-potatoes in the comics, you’ll be getting Wolverine back too.

Yep, if all of that went down and Fox gets to make a cartoon...

Post from the site that shall not be named:

I really think fox gave marvel the rights to the fantastic four in exchange for the x-men t.v rights. Look at the clues.

-Gun got permission from fox to use Ego.

-Gun has been talking about wanting annihilus as the villian for gardians 3, even though he knows it's a fantastic four villian.

- Fox is now able to make t.v shows out of x-men propertys.

- Marvel has been pushing X-men comics after years of trying to push them towards the back of entertainment.

- Now today we heard there might be a new x- men animated show in development.

I don't know maybe I'm just seeing connections I want to see, but damn would it be icing on the big ass cake that is the MCU.
