The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 9

I almost kind of want to see the crud storm that would happen if they do try.

A part of me does and it certainly helps that I don't even particularly like the Fantastic Four, but then I remember the long-suffering fanbase and realize I'm not cruel enough to wish them to endure more torture.

Feige and Gun;s quote prove now more than ever that treating some people here like me or Vile like the ENEMY because we tell you things how they are even if you don't like them, is plain wrong.

You aren't doing good to anyone hyping up "rights reversions" every Comic-con and trying make tv deals more complicated than they are. You are raising people hopes only to crush them down in the process. The rights aren't coming back for a while and this is the reality.

Trying to call people out saying they are making double profiles to try and bring the whole mood down is idiotic and pedantic. If i say that the economy of a country sucks, i;m honest not evil. It's time to face the music. The rights aren't back and the tv deal is just for extra influence and revenue. Simple as that. Face the damn music.

Nothing has been proven and you have no way of "knowing" "how things are" unless you were part of the negotiations. You could be right. I freely admit that, but you could be dead wrong and there are always alternative explanations for "facts".

Unless you know exactly what's been negotiated you are in the dark with the rest of us. Good guesses (which yours may be) are just that; good guesses.

May the sun continue to shine on your state. :woot:

I remember last year, on boards such as this one, a lot of fans holding out hope that Marvel would make some kind of FF-related announcement at SDCC 2016, but nothing came of it. I can't help but expect a similar cycle of speculation, news, and disappointment to occur all over again this year.

Clickbait websites fanned those flames with a lot of fake news.

Eh, I believe that no news is still good news, because even if there isn't any news regarding the FF rights in SDCC17, then it just means one more year before it automatically reverts to Marvel.

I have hope of something big being announced this year, as they have SDCC and the week before D23, but, I understand that it might not happen this year. I really don't see a need for both unless the Hall H is just a panel discussion, not an announcement about something revealed at D23.

That said, what they announce probably won't be FF related, unless Eternity reaches down and blesses us, or Uatu is back in the fold as well as his fellow watchers. (I still say Fiege could be a watcher down the road, taking over the cameo role from Stan, he has the look, and that would be a nice, funny reveal, especially if he complains about being thrust back into college party scene, ala the Toga Party from Animal House, as a joke).

Every day FF fans hope we will get news and we come on to this thread to talk about it. When events occur, it increases the chances that we will hear something, but I think those events are much more meaningful to people who want to come into this thread and say "I told you so" because that fills some need in their lives, than it is meaningful to those of us who continue to hope every day.

I don't go to bed every evening disappointed that we didn't get news. I go to bed every evening happy that we are inevitably closer to the real day - whenever that may be.

Hopefully that day will come before I die, but if it doesn't, I won't regret the anticipation.

The anticipation has added to my enjoyment of life, not taken anything away. Some people don't get that, but it's easy enough to ignore those people.

All I'm really thinking about is Stan Lee hopefully having a cameo in a MCU F4 film. Should he reach 100 years of age, then he really will be'The Man.' ;)

I'm starting to suspect that the posters who are concerned with us "getting our hopes up" and "being disappointed again" are delighted whenever disappointing news is posted to this thread.

Please, everyone, save your sympathy for starving children and fans of the DCEU. This thread has stood the test of time because FF fans - Yes, we exist! - enjoy talking about the First Family and the possibility of their joining the golden age of superhero movies. We enjoy the speculation, shrug off the disappointments and look for the next tin foil hat theory. So don't lose another moment of sleep worrying about us.

 We've been on this thread for four years and on the forum longer than that, and we'll be here for the next ten years or more - even through another Fox film if that's what it takes.

And if some people want to pop in on occasion when some news item pops and pretend they know something we don't... whatever.

Well, at least SOME-one equated it to tin foil hat theories.

We're have you been? The majority of the theories on these boards are presented as speculation and flat out leaps in logic. There's no need to clutch ones pearls when folks are trying to connect the dots on licensing agreements that haven't been disclosed and no one posting has the slightest clue what they entail.

The thread won thread of the year. It was closed down during Fant4stic because those defenders thought it was no longer necessary to have this thread. The thread was rebooted when Fant4stic flopped big time. It was the only thread to survive that forum after it was closed.

So it looks like i continue to be right that Fox will never give the rights back. Good.

Even if they make a deal early I wouldn't expect news for a good while yet. Maybe 2019 at the earliest. If it comes down to reversion from the deadline passing later still, around 2022, before there would be actual confirmation.

I still believe Marvel Disney would be well within legal authority to litigate Fantastic Four from ever being made again by Fox for breaking the quality clause.

I think Doom might go to Marvel before the FF themselves. With the trades that the two companies have been doing with specific characters rather than wholesale properties, I could see Marvel and Fox agreeing to swap certain X-Men rights (perhaps a percentage of merchandising or more tv rights) for the character of Victor Von Doom, who, IMO is pretty much the best place you can go after Thanos.

Taking some weird satisfaction from Fox still having the FF is simply sad.

But it is nice to to catch up with one of the "FOX First" posters who cheered every awful decision regarding Fant4stic and then tucked their collective tails between their legs and hid after FFINO entered theaters. Im looking forward to him being disappointed again.
