Why would they kill Harry in the same movie he is being introduced in?
Except this is Harry Osborn we're talking about. He shouldn't be killed off so soon only after one movie. Plus, I really doubt Peter would scream like that over the death of Harry. That's a face reserved for Gwen:Same reason they kill anyone in the first movie they're introduced? They served their purpose and it benefits the plot?
The only ones who will pick up on it are us fans. You show the average person the trailers and they still wouldn't guess that Gwen is going to die. She appears to be the "damsel in distress," and Spider-Man is probably going to save her.
The Super Bowl spot ended with Spider-Man catching her, so it gave the illusion that she survives.Watch the SuperBowl to find out Gwen's fate? C'mon, the GA knows what's going on.
Yep that`s what`s going to happen !!!! LOLI think this is what happens.

You got it. The only popular comic book film that I can think of where the love interest dies is TDK, otherwise the "damsel in distress" tends to get saved. Also looking back at just Spider-Man films, Mary Jane was kidnapped and "almost killed" in all three Raimi films. I think people are used to that by now, so Gwen's death will break the formula a bit as far as Spider-Man films go.so much of the GA still calls emma mj, they don't have a clue about gwen's fate. what they're showing us is no different than an iron man trailer with tony saying "i have to keep you safe" to pepper and then cut to a few shots of her in danger. no one expects the love interest to die.

That still doesn't determine anything. Honestly, we're just going to have to agree to disagree at this point because none of this matters. What DOES matter is what we see when watching the actual film. They're not going to kill her in the trailer lol? I'm just saying they're putting a lot of emphasis on that scene.

I still LOL when I hear people say, "blonde Mary Jane."
I reckon Harry tries to kill her but fails. Norman will step up to the plate in the third movie and finish what his son couldn't

None of what you said amounts to a "gigantic and costly misinformation campaign." Stars making leading comments costs exactly zero dollars for the studio. Stars do that all the time, sometimes under contract. Cumberbatch couldn't reveal that he was Kahn, so he openly lied about it. Liam Neeson did for BB, and the same happened with Talia in TDKR.
And it's not like they shot the footage we're seeing isn't going to be used. All I'm suggesting is that they don't have Gwen die during the climatic battle with Harry. And, again, it does serve a purpose. It throws fans like us, who know Gwen's fate, for a bit of a loop. If they're following in SSM's footsteps, they would then start doing things to make us think Gwen might actually not die in this series, (maybe have Peter propose to her) only to kill her in one of the following movies when we don't expect it.
What would the point of that be? To retain the same element of surprise for the fans who expect Gwen to die that the original fans reading the original comic had over thirty years ago.
But going back to the original point, what they've done isn't costly or complicated in the least. It's no more costly or complicated than the number of films that have hidden a certain aspect of their film from the general public in the past.
If they do a fake-out in TASM2, her death won't mean as much in TASM3. So if Gwen survives this film, its going to go in two possible directions:
1. Gwen dies in TASM3 and might feel cheapened.
2. Gwen survives TASM3 as well and never actually gets killed.
