I hope Sally Field as Aunt May could be like Q in the James Bond franchise. Despite the fact that Bond himself was being recast several times over, the same actor was there playing 'Q' throughout most of the series.

Well done super Jim, your prediction was bloody close by all reports

Did Harry-Goblin get away, using Gwen's fall as the destraction, like I surmised?

Your prediction was pretty close.

...but I read that [BLACKOUT]Harry is shown in prison after Gwen dies[/BLACKOUT]

No Spidey renders Harry Unconcious, web snaps, Gwen falls. we next see Harry in a cell at Ravencroft

Is Harry still a Goblin in his cell or is he normal?

He appears normal, but Friers says to Harry "You're looking Better" Harry replies, "It comes and goes"

Take the "S" out of the last bracket. ^

You guys think he will get more Goblin-like in the sequels? I'm not a huge fan of his appearance.

You know, I was never really convinced Aunt May had much if any idea that Peter may be Spider-man in the first one, but there was one line in this one that made me think she could have an inkling. Though whether that's because she knew for a while now or put the picture together recently is another thing (in my mind). I personally wouldn't mind if Sally Fields kept playing up that ambiguity.

They could only play it off for so long though. If they go with the ambiguity for a while it would be fine, but I think she should officially find out by movie 3.

Also, did the knife thing used by Gobbie turn out to just be a knife, or was it to get Peter's blood?

Yeah, I wouldn't like to see it dragged out either. But it would be interesting to see it played with for a bit. Sort of play up the worried, but trusting parent who is trying to let their child go out into the world and make their own mistakes angle in a way.

Yeah, just a knife he busts out for the fight. Nothing special at all really.

I got the impression she knows, or at least knows he's keepin something from her. you're referring to the secret talk right?, if not the other clue was during the Rhino news report. of course she must know now either way. but i do like how it's wrapped in ambiguity

First movie I felt it was more she knew he was being evasive/secretive, but not that she necessarily knew. The news report and her words near the end of this film are what felt to me like she could perhaps have a real idea of what's going on.

Though getting back to Gwen Stacy... spoilers incoming...

Not too much spoilers, but I did feel they really mishandled her death. I would say the way in which she died worked well enough and I thought Garfield and Stone were admirable in the scene. However the 'sight gag' (whatever you'd call it) with the outstretched hand at the end of the web-line and the hammy Green Goblin just made it really hard to appreciate that moment or even care that Garfield as Peter Parker was distraught over Gwen's death. While I keep saying that I had a lot of fun with the movie I do think the flaws present really managed to mar this moment quite a bit (for me).

It's got to be powerful.

From what I've read, she falls because the cog that the web is attached to falls. I think I would have rathered see the web snap because the turning cog cuts it. That would be more suspenseful.

Either way, like I said, I'm bringing tissues for those unsuspecting viewers.

Now, can we get Mysterio into the Sinister Six and make him use hallucinagenic gas or holograms to make Peter see Gwen? That would be fantastic!!!

I assumed she knew at the end of the first one. when he comes home with the eggs and looks like crap I figured she found out then but might not of told him that's why shes goes so easy on him because she realized who he really was and what hed been up to.

The web snaps? It gets caught in the gears of the clockwork tower and Spidey tries to stop the gears from cutting it by ramming his foot into them. The gears grind hard and break and that's when the gears the webline got caught in cut it and she falls. He was holding the webline the whole time in his right hand trying to not let go but he couldn't stop the webline from eventually being cut due to Harry pinning him down.

Ok, so it's kind of what I was hoping for!

So looking forward to that scene!

And I so wanna say "I told ya so!", but I won't.

Terrible paint diagram I drew to show how the scene looked where it happened, so people can see where the confusion of the whole [BLACKOUT]her head touched the ground, her head didn't touch the ground[/BLACKOUT] thing came from:

I liked how jamming the cogs was like Peter and Gwen trying to stop time, but it eventually caught up with them and she died.
