The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion Thread - Part 127 (NO SPOILERS)

The result, in Christopher Nolan's conclusion to his Batman trilogy, is an ambitious superhero movie with two surprises: It isn't very much fun, and it doesn't have very much Batman. I'm thinking of the over-the-top action sequences of the earlier films that had a subcurrent of humor, and the exhilarating performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker. This movie is all serious drama, with a villain named Bane whose Hannibal Lecterish face-muzzle robs him of personality. And although we see a good deal of Bruce Wayne, his alter-ego Batman makes only a few brief appearances before the all-out climax.

dammit. this was my main fear with Bane. The mask robs Hardy of one of his major strengths as an actor.

With Bruce being retired, spurned back into action and then imprisoned, I thought less Batman was to be expected. It's possible they had more or less the same screen time in the suit as BB and TDK, but the longer length of Rises comes into play, putting the percentage down.

I think one of the concerns for me after reading Ebert and other reviews is that John Blake is going to make the film less enjoyable.

I sure hope I enjoy him because he's in the movie A LOT from what people say. Just as much as Bruce, Bane, and Selina.

Now that we lost the backing of the critics, and oscar buzz seems fading away with every passing minute and review coming out, do you understand why i want this movie to break all records? That's all we've got, folks, all what's remaining for us to talk about.

I hope it breaks the OW.

BB and TDK had the same amount of bat-percentage per film. I think it was around 16%? I was hoping TDKR would have the same, if not more, especially since its the longer of the three.

lol, really? Alright, now I'm worried. Even though from all the Batman scenes we have seen thus far, they look intense. First fight with Bane, introducing Catwoman to the bat-pod, jumping off the roof and laying waste to some goons on a rooftop, in the bat, final battle during the climax of the film, POV/Upside down sequence, meeting Gordon with the flares.

It can't have less Bat-time than BB and TDK.....:csad:

Might as well change the name to bruce wayne rises...he better not have less time as batman in this film considering its almost a 3hr film

I'm confused how it can be as long as it is and not have very much Batman or Bane.

You need to re-evaluate your priorities. Big time.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Who knows, it may just seem that way. I'll time it once it comes out on DVD.

I just have a feeling that not seeing Batman too much is gonna make his scenes feel even more grander. It may be a negative for him but it may end up just helping the emotional connection to the story even more for us. You never know.

LOL...Good one! :yay: At least we know he rises when he's with Miranda Tate.

What are you talking about? 8.7 average after almost 60 reviews and it's doing better with the top critics than TDK did.

Inception was one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2010 and it had it's detractors too. It happens.

And here i was blowing my horns and trumpets saying this movie will be the best since The God Father and Shawshank Redemption.

It's not spoilers that spoil the movie, it's God Damn Awful Critics!. Thank God for the Embargo! Great Strategy by WB.

Apparently it has a lot of Bane and a lot of Bruce Wayne (but not as Batman). Not to mention Catwoman, Miranda Tate, Alfred, Luscious, and John Blake.

If nothing else you are entertaining me son, do go on.

:lmao: Dude, you need to learn to have your own opinion before you embarrass yourself some more.

His comeback will be more satisfying, I think.

When they make the next Batman film you should be The Joker.

Aren't you the same guy who was saying that WB should buy 20 million dollars worth of tickets just so they can take the OW record away from the Avengers ?

This is what I'm hoping for. Now when Batman is seen, you know something's about to go down.
