Yes, but what made THAT work was the build up and the execution of it.

The build up and execution wasn't exactly top notch either, in my book. It was decent.

This movie just kind of thrust the idea of cops VS Bane’s mercenaries running at each other into the film. There was no decent buildup, no strategy…it was just really poorly handled for being a climactic element.

On some levels, the finale felt unclimatic but it was never poorly handled and executed. I'd say TDKR's finale was on par with The Avengers -- both featured no strategy at all.

Eh.

Half the “logic” issues aren’t even logic issues. They’re issues of pure stupidity.

"Let's send all the cops underground at once!"

Pure stupidity? It's a CBM. Half of the logic in these movies is 'questionable'.

There were women at the dance ball. And then there's that random chick that entered the stock exchange that made you think she was someone important and then that other one that Bane smacked. :p

But they got eaten.

oh yea and Selinas needless partner

I missed some of Nolan's interviews, but just to be clear...

Did he officially declare that he won't be involved in the Batman reboot/Justice League in ANY capacity?

Is he just completely done?

Poor women. Even when two of you are lead characters, you can't win either. :funny:

If he didn't actually say it, I think it's safe to assume that he is. And good for him...he should do more of his original projects and superhero movies could use some more new blood.

I'd be hard pressed to come up with an example of the police in a comic book movie doing something stupider than sending their entire police force into the sewers during a time of crisis.

Or stopping the chasing of a terrorist/stock exchange robber to pursue a vigilante, when they could easily do both.

I agree about there being moments that didnt seem like something Nolan would come up with. As much as i like the film i find it to be an odd beast.

No wonder Gotham needs Batman....look at their cops!

In a lot of ways, it felt like he had too much A-B-C to cover and wrap things up in a tidy bow, when he could have used less elements and let them sink in and grow more.

Not that I don't agree but... what time of crisis? **** all has happened in 8 years and few knew about Bane.

Or you could do things like have the dialogue say "Half the city's cops" instead of "All the city's cops". Then, later in the film, when Bane's men are hunting cops down, it still makes sense, and explains why there isn't a huge rebel/cop presence despite half the city's cops still being around.

Hmm...

The stock exchange terrorist act/murder spree/mass kidnapping? The police Commissioner discovering there is a secret underground plot, and having been shot?

Its just obvious they didn't think some of this stuff through, or worse, they went with stupid ideas for the sheer melodrama of them.

Yeah... I'll miss his steady hand with Batman. But I'm such a huge fan of his that I'm excited for whats in store for him next.

I don't think they ever said "all". Gordon said send "every available" officer down there, so there had to be some who weren't down there. The priest warned Blake that they were hunting down cops like dogs, and I thought that was enough. I think seeing Bane's mercs on rooftops sniping leftover cops in the street would have been one step too bleak.

Do you really want to go down this road?

Ahem..

• Tony Stark constructing an arc reactor and suit of armor... in a cave

• The Joker falling in a tank of chemical waste, and shortly after sporting premawhite skin.

• Harvey Dent + third degree burns on half of his face.

• The Hulk's shorts never tearing during his transformation.

Shall I keep going? :o

A very high majority of cops (say 95% or so) are down in the tunnels. It is just idiotic to think that every single cop is down there. What about injured cops? Ill ones?

A lot yeah but not every single cop.

The stock exchange terrorist act/murder spree/mass kidnapping? The police Commissioner discovering there is a secret underground plot, and having been shot?

It is hardly a murder spree or mass kidnapping. About 3 people were killed and 5 kidnapped. The commissioner knew nothing about a plot only that something was building underground. I know it is bad but it hardly the worst crime in humanity. Hardly a time of crisis.

Well, to be fair to The Guard I think he was specifically referring to scenes of the police doing something outlandish.

And to that I counter...in Batman 89, the police doing nothing and allowing The Joker to conduct a parade right in the middle of the city after he's already well-established as a homicidal maniac that's been poisoning Gotham.

Gordan said everyone. On duty, off duty, everyone. Then later when Blake warns Foley of the explosives and the trap Foley exclaims "every cop in the city is in those tunnels!"
