I think it would've been awesome (for the 2 parter movie idea) if there are several levels in climbing the pit and there are more obstacles (maybe Bane/Ra's added those later on). Like I want to see Bruce use his mind too to figure out how to escape it. And I would've loved it if there were some hostile prisoners too. I love me some Bruce fight scenes.

I've never been good with quantifying my love for movies through ratings but here's my personal preference:

BB
TDK
TDKR

My ratings:

BB - 10/10
TDK - 10/10
TDKR - 10/10

I actually love this idea. Dammit Nolan you should have just made a 4 hour epic movie.

That sounds more like a video game scenario than an actual movie. I'd be bored to bits watching Bruce climb through a pit and fighting his way through it.

The reason I loved the entire trilogy was the fact there weren't pointless action set pieces. Everything had a reason to be there.

In full agreement we are.

Yeah I'm not a fan of that idea either. Sorry kvz5! :yay:

The pit escape was the closest we got to a good old-fashioned "deathtrap". I always wanted one, but maybe next time it will be one more elaborate for Batman instead of Bruce Wayne in a future film. It shouldn't last too long either so Batman has more time to interact with other characters unless some of them are with him.

While the film could stand for some breathing room I wouldn't have been in favour of it being split into two parts. I hate that.

When I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 in theatres the air was just sucked out of the room when Voldemort raised that wand and the credits hit. You could hear a collective groan in the audience... and folks were well aware that the final book was going to be split into two parts years in advance. Critics were also very lukewarm towards Pt. 1 because of the split. It left them wanting.

Overall, splitting a movie into two parts isn't particularly satisfying until you have your hands on both of the DVD's/Blu-ray's and you can watch them back-to-back.

Rises has some irritating flaws but the finale left me wholly satisfied.

Deathly Hallows didnt really have a choice. Have you read the book? Heyman has said if they hadnt split the book the hallows would have been entirely removed along with other bits and pieces. The book is called deathly hallows and they were going to cut them lol. Granted the camping wasnt thrilling but when combining both films the campibg is a small part and when viewed back to back they work as one film. Ideal solution would have been both released together with an intermission. Also something to note, the ending for Part 1 wasnt always Voldemort getting the wand. There were other choices and it wasnt until closer to release that they changed it to Voldemort stealing the wand. Personally i feel Part 1 could have had a stronger ending, but ill take a flat ending to Part 1 over a truncated butchered singular film adaption of that tome of a book. I can watch both films back to back as one film so Part 1s ending is a nonissue now. With the other books i didnt mind but the final book had so much necessary info and plot mechinations that i shudder to think what would have happened to the plot in a single film.

What other endings did they have in mind for part 1?

Sydney IMAX is going to be screening The Dark Knight Trilogy on the 30th of August.

So damn tempted! But I'm already going to Soundwave Festival in February next year and that costs enough. Oh well :(

BB 9.5 (perfection except for 2 or 3 really stupid one-liners and the fact that some scenes clearly filmed indoors look cheap)

TDK 8.5 (thanks to Heath Ledger!!)

TDKR 4 (that may even be too high because I can't find something that I like about it)

I believe, originally, they were going to end at the trio being kidnapped by the Snatchers and taken to Malfoy Manor. Before Hermione's torture by Bellatrix, etc. I'm not quite sure if any other ideas for the ending were made public.

I loved Part 1 for the most part actually. I enjoyed it more than Part 2. But I wasn't entirely happywith Hermione's torture. I was wishing it had been more brutal as it had been in the book. LOL. I'm sick that way I guess. And I didn't get to see Ron acting absolutely frantic as he did in the book. I REALLY wanted to see all of it play out.

I stand by my statement that Daniel and Emma had better chemistry than Rupert ever had with her :p

I always liked the chemistry Emma had with both boys, and the chemistry the trio had together, even Rupert and Dan together.

I hated all of the Harry Potter films bar a few random moments of brilliance. Most of it seemed to pretentious and far too forced.

A lot of it felt like 'Hey look, we're making this movie because we have to!'

If you hated them, why did you continue to see them? lol

Batman

After all my viewing, and my sinked opinions, the only things I hated about this movie was Bane's death and that Talia was only used for a chase scene.

This is still a 9/10 movie for me.

Batman Begins: 10/10
The Dark Knight: 9.5/10
The Dark Knight Rises: 9/10

I'd rate it -

Batman Begins - 10/10
The Dark Knight - 10/10
The Dark Knight Rises - 9/10

I would have the blackgate speech and the montage of the raids and rich being deposed end the first film. Imagine if you will, the speech and the riots, raids and that whole montage then Bane says "Gotham will survive. Gotham will endure." It cuts to the bomb being loaded into the truck and as the doors close cut to credits. That would be one hell of an ending. Have the second film open with a flyover of a smoking devestated gotham. No music or voices just silence and the shadow of a child scampering quickely into an alley. Show people on the streets in dirty rags burning fires in oil barrels searching for food. Truly show the depravity and devestation by cutting to various interiors and streets and show the hovels the people are living in. A kid draws a batsymbol on a wall. A parent says to come inside and the kid asks his mom where is batman. Then cut to a closeup of the rocky ground and a shadow being dragged along cut to bruce's cut and worn feet and so on from there. Or something along those lines. They could have the arrival of Bruce to the prison in the first movie and the first time we see bruce in the second movie is him training.

This I'd have loved to see.

Have we ever seen this pic?

This one I think is the one used in the movie?

Yeah, from TDK's viral marketing. You can see them in the GCN videos.

Ah nice! I forgot about that.

With those pics, in my mind, I have these thoughts of Lucius dealing with Thomas Wayne in the company and Alfred dealing with both Waynes. I wonder how allt hese characters interacted.

The Dark Knight Rises - 9/10. :disbelief:

I absolutely adore Nolan's trilogy, but anyone who says that Rises is one star from being a perfect movie is just plain wrong. This is coming from one of Nolan's greatest defenders too.
