Such a shame that there is such a slim chance of any TDKR acting noms.

- Bale disappears for quite a bit of the second act even though he is awesome in every scene he is in. Plus I think the academy would rather shut themselves down than give the major acting award to a Batman performance.
- Hardy gives a great performance but he isn't really in it THAT much after the blackgate speech
- Hathaway also disappears a great deal in the second act
- Cotillard. Nah. She does well with what she has though.
- Oldman. Also does brilliantly with what he has but really not a patch on TDK plus his character isn't given much to do and doesn't really get any resolution.
- Freeman. Not in it enough.
- Caine disappears for a good hour and a half

The only real contender is Levitt as he is given a full arc and a lot to do and a decent/balanced portion of screentime throughout the film. But its never gonna happen.

Judi Dench won an Oscar for 8 minutes of work in Shakespeare in Love.

So not out of the realm of possiblity for Caine.

(But I agree with you...a very long shot).

I think it has a very strong chance to get nominated, but I think it has a zero chance of winning. Still, as others have said, this conversation wouldn't even be happening if it wasn't for TDK and it simply being nominated would be a huge accomplishment, so all things considered, A few big nominations and a few wins in smaller categories is fairly likely and would be pretty damn amazing.

Agreed. Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy was monumental for the genre, so a nomination seems probable. It deserves recognition from the academy.

...and Les Miserables. Hopefully. :yay:

I will campaign day and night for Anne Hathaway. :woot:

It's really not about how much screen time you have. It's always quality over quantity.

:wow::wow:

I knew she wasn't in it long.... but was the 8 minutes really the greatest piece of support acting of the entire year???

And Anthony Hopkins for 11 minutes in Silence of the Lambs.

Wasn't Ledger only in TDK for like 12 minutes or something? So it's definitely quality over quantity like kvz pointed out.

Anne still has a chance if her performance as Fantine in Les Miserables wows them enough despite being in the film for a short amount of time. Not an Oscar for TDKR but it would still be pretty cool nonetheless.

Anne is a lock for a nod for Les Miserables. No way they'll give her something for TDKR when Les Miserables is there. The only debate right now is if she'll win it (and I bet she will).

Too bad Bale won a year earlier. If he won last year, he'll be presenting the award to her. [/full circle]

I feel bad for my girl Amy Adams though. It looks like another year for her where she'll get a nod but no win. :(

I've got my fingers and toes crossed!

No way.

- Prologue
- Mob meeting
- Why so Serious?
- Truck chase
- Dent party
- Interrogation
- Bats/Joker end fight
- Burning money
- two news sections
- Hospital

But yeah it is quality over quantity I still don't think there will be any TDKR noms though.

You're right I just looked it up and it was around 33 minutes. So never mind then. :funny:

I actually think if anyone's likely for a nomination, it's Michael Caine.

:woot: However, I do remember there was a rumour floating around on the IMDB boards (probably on here too) from a supposed insider that Ledger was only in it for 12 minutes.

I'd say Bane is probably in it less. He only has one scene in between the blackgate speech and final battle if I remember correctly which the "hang them where the world can see". Other than that it is little tiny glimpses than scenes.

Out of TDKR? Yeah probably.

Out of all the actors not including their role in TDKR? Probably not. I'd say Anne is a bigger contender for an Oscar if we consider the role and movie she's starring in (Les Mes). Then again it's not like Caine really had another Oscar type movie this year.

The more important question is... Will TDKR even win a single MTV Movie Award? :p

*cough*Twilight*cough*TheAvengers*cough*

Uhhh no I doubt it :woot::woot::woot: the best thing about this MTV awards is that I don't have to stay up till 4am for a TDKR trailer :funny:

When he presented the award last year and Octavia Spencer thanked the Acadeny for putting her alongside "the hottest man in the room", I first thought she was talking about Christian Bale and not her Oscar. :oldrazz:

I'd love to see Anne win...a first nomination for Hugh would be nice too.

Haha I think everyone thought of that. I still do. Pffftt the Oscar! Bale's hotter than the Oscar. :oldrazz:

I think if there ever was a Batman movie that could have won the Oscars, it would have been TDK.

Of course.

And I don't think TDKR will be winning Best Picture at all, but I simply want that recognition that TDK didn't get when it should have. Imo, TDK is the reason TDKR can get a nomination because of there being ten choices now instead of the regular five.

The academy is really fickle. I don't think a movie like the hurt locker should have won a best picture for example.

I loved The Hurt Locker. So glad it won Best Picture and not Avatar. Plus, it was kinda awesome seeing Cameron's ex win the award for that and Directing, haha. And if not Hurt Locker, I would've place Inglourious Basterds to be the very next film to get Best Film.

It's sad, very sad, but yes....Avengers will rule....at the MTV Movie Awards :funny:

That is the only reason I watched it as well. And Bale shedding some tears over Ledger :csad:

TDKR will receive quite a few noms in the tech categories.

This is indeed a fact:up:

If they didnt give TDK much recognition I dont see them giving many to TDKR for "sentimental" reasons to recognise the trilogy. Sad but probably true.
