The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion Thread - - - - - - - - - Part 141

There were quite a few moments in TDKR that rivaled the best of BB/TDK for me.

The Joker said:
Am I the only one who doesn't feel that way? Who thinks Bruce was just as prominent in the story, and Bale was very underrated next to scene stealing Heath?

I was just as immersed in Bruce's conflict in TDK as I was with the Joker and Dent. He provided so many of the subtle emotional moments. For example one of my favorites was in the final scene with Two Face, Gordon, and Gordon's family.

Batman: "What happened to Rachel wasn't chance. We decided to act. We three"
Dent: "Then why was it me who was the only one who lost everything?"
Batman: ".....it wasn't"

The quiet way Batman said that, the look of pain in his face. He lost Rachel, too. He wants to share his pain with Dent. Let him know he's not the only one who suffered, but he can't.

It was the nuanced moments like these from Bale that fare not always appreciated.
Oh man, they're all incredible in that scene. Harvey's "You think I want to escape from this?" always sends a shiver down my spine.

I was being a little facetious, While I feel like BB and TDK were in a league of their own, TDKR is a decent movie and had some good stuff.

Bane- His characterization was great and I liked him just as much as the Joker. But his motives were generic/stupid and his plan was just :whatever:. Sure, neither Ra's Al Ghul nor the Joker (especially the former) had the most logical plans but at least I could buy in to them. The whole leaving Bruce and Gotham alive for 5 months just to torture the citizens.....Even though the citizens have no idea he is going to blow up the city no matter what

Catwoman- I really liked the toned down version of Catwoman, the fact that she is a career criminal and has a long record and everything. I just wish we had spent more time with John Blake (a character I hate) and more time with her. I do think her and Bruce's romance were undeveloped, I don't get why he would end up with her even after she betrayed him the way he did. Yes, I get that he "saw something more in her" or whatever, but it all seemed a little convenient for my taste

The Bat- I really, REALLY did not like the Bat. At least the Tumbler and Batpod were somewhat credible, every time I saw the Bat on screen I remembered I was watching a comic book movie

I dunno...the tormenting aspect of Bane's plan made sense to me. The guy took over the city and is dangling a nuke over Gotham's head. Sure, some of Gotham's poor went along with his revolution, but I'd say the vast majority of Gothamites do not trust a guy who destroyed a football stadium and is keeping the world at bay with a nuke. That's why most of the city ends up staying in their homes basically just praying for a miracle.

So, I was on iTunes, and I found screenshots of the Blu-ray menus, and they look horribly generic.

Good god...I hope this isn't the dvd/blu ray menu we get.

This is what the movie shows. Empty streets and crowded interiors. Bane was the biggest and the strongest and said that someone out there had their hand on the button. If nothing else he was torturing the police in a similar fashion to Bruce by keeping them alive under the city and powerless.

Ha, that looks horrible. I hope that's just for the iPad or something....

No way that can be the actual Blu-ray menu...just no way.

It made sense to me as well.

Some will argue that Bane's plan made no sense since Bruce didn't see any Gothamite 'clamoring' over the other, but we didn't see the entirety of the five months either, so we only see no clamoring within the film's POV. But seeing a desolate Gotham City was still enough pain for Bruce to see.

That looks like a 1997 dvd menu. I cant believe they would release something like that.

It's how they've handled all their menus for the past 6 months or so...

What the hell? Are they letting the interns build the menus now?

Gill? lol

Heh, my original Matrix DVD looks much better than that, and I bought that back in '99-2000.

I must be immune to that poster. Just bring on the damn Blu-Ray!

"Bland...generic...dangerous. Designing boring menus for the masses is too much power for one person."

Type in your name, Fox!

Damnit, destroy the bland menus for us all!!!!!!

windows DVD maker has about....every one of its menu styles that are batter than that. lmao WOW

It's just...so bland. It's hard to believe WB is ditching the customized menus for that.

I know how I'm gonna feel when I go and pick it up.

Those screenshots are from the "iTunes Extras" menu, included in the iTunes downloaded version only. They aren't from the Blu-ray or DVD menu.

That being said... The Dark Knight's "iTunes Extras" menu was a lot better looking, and was themed appropriately.

True but the Blu Ray menu will look very similar. WB has gone very basic with their menus on Blu Ray as of late. This is the new template.

Rises' Blu Ray will look very similar, if not exact.
